Jeremiah 4:8-10
New American Standard Bible
8 For this, (A)put on sackcloth,
Mourn and wail;
For the (B)fierce anger of the Lord
Has not turned away from us.”
9 “And it shall come about on that day,” declares the Lord, “that the (C)heart of the king and the hearts of the leaders will fail; and the priests will tremble, and the (D)prophets will be astonished.”
10 Then I said, “Oh, Lord [a]God! Surely You have utterly (E)deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, ‘(F)You will have peace’; yet a sword touches the [b]throat.”

lament(B) and wail,

“the king and the officials will lose heart,(D)
the priests will be horrified,
and the prophets will be appalled.”(E)
10 Then I said, “Alas, Sovereign Lord! How completely you have deceived(F) this people and Jerusalem by saying, ‘You will have peace,’(G) when the sword is at our throats!”
