⁷ therefore the Lord is about to bring against them
    the mighty floodwaters^(A) of the Euphrates—
    the king of Assyria^(B) with all his pomp.^(C)
It will overflow all its channels,
    run over all its banks^(D)

⁸ and sweep on into Judah, swirling over it,^(A)
    passing through it and reaching up to the neck.
Its outspread wings^(B) will cover the breadth of your land,
    Immanuel^[a]!”^(C)

¹⁸ The splendor of his forests^(A) and fertile fields
    it will completely destroy,^(B)
    as when a sick person wastes away.

³³ See, the Lord, the Lord Almighty,
    will lop off^(A) the boughs with great power.
The lofty trees will be felled,^(B)
    the tall^(C) ones will be brought low.^(D)

³⁴ He will cut down^(A) the forest thickets with an ax;
    Lebanon^(B) will fall before the Mighty One.^(C)

⁸ Even the junipers^(A) and the cedars of Lebanon
    gloat over you and say,
“Now that you have been laid low,
    no one comes to cut us down.”^(B)
