God’s Vengeance on the Nations
63 Who is this who comes from (A)Edom,
With (B)garments of [a]glowing colors from (C)Bozrah,
This One who is majestic in His apparel,
[b]Marching in the greatness of His strength?
“It is I, the One who speaks in righteousness, (D)mighty to save.”
2 Why is Your apparel red,
And Your garments like one who (E)treads in the wine press?
3 “(F)I have trodden the wine trough alone,
And from the peoples there was no one with Me.
I also (G)trod them in My anger
And (H)trampled them in My wrath;
And (I)their [c]lifeblood is sprinkled on My garments,
And I [d]stained all My clothes.
4 For the (J)day of vengeance was in My heart,
And My year of redemption has come.
5 I looked, but there was (K)no one to help,
And I was astonished and there was no one to uphold;
So My (L)own arm brought salvation to Me,
And My wrath upheld Me.
6 I (M)trampled down the peoples in My anger
And made them (N)drunk with My wrath,
And I [e]poured out their lifeblood on the earth.”
God’s Ancient Mercies Recalled
7 I will make mention of the (O)mercies of the Lord, and the praises of the Lord,
According to all that the Lord has granted us,
And the great (P)goodness toward the house of Israel,
Which He has granted them according to His (Q)compassion
And according to the abundance of His mercies.
8 For He said, “Certainly they are (R)My people,
Sons who will not deal falsely.”
So He became their (S)Savior.
9 In all their distress [f](T)He was distressed,
And the (U)angel of His presence saved them;
In His (V)love and in His mercy He (W)redeemed them,
And He (X)lifted them and carried them all the days of old.
10 But they (Y)rebelled
And grieved His (Z)Holy Spirit;
Therefore He turned Himself to become their enemy,
He fought against them.
11 Then (AA)His people remembered the days of old, of Moses.
Where is (AB)He who brought them up out of the sea with the [g]shepherds of His flock?
Where is He who (AC)put His Holy Spirit in the midst of [h]them,
12 Who caused His (AD)glorious arm to go at the right hand of Moses,
Who (AE)divided the waters before them to make for Himself an everlasting name,
13 Who led them through the depths?
Like the horse in the wilderness, they did not (AF)stumble;
14 Like the cattle which go down into the valley,
The Spirit of the (AG)Lord gave [i]them rest.
So You (AH)led Your people,
To make for Yourself a glorious name.
You Are Our Father
15 (AI)Look down from heaven and see from Your holy and glorious (AJ)lofty habitation;
Where are Your (AK)zeal and Your mighty deeds?
The (AL)stirrings of Your heart and Your compassion are restrained toward me.
16 For You are our (AM)Father, though (AN)Abraham does not know us
And Israel does not recognize us.
You, Lord, are our Father,
Our (AO)Redeemer from ancient times is Your name.
17 Why, Lord, do You (AP)cause us to stray from Your ways
And (AQ)harden our heart from fearing You?
(AR)Return for the sake of Your servants, the tribes of Your heritage.
18 Your holy people possessed Your sanctuary for a little while,
Our adversaries have (AS)trampled it down.
19 We have become like those over whom You have never ruled,
Like those who were not called by Your name.

63 ¿Quién es este que viene de Edom,
desde Bosra, con ropas teñidas de rojo?
¿Quién es este de espléndido ropaje,
que avanza[a] con fuerza arrolladora?
«Soy yo, el que habla con justicia,
el que tiene poder para salvar».
2 ¿Por qué están rojos tus vestidos,
como los del que pisa las uvas en el lagar?
3 «He pisado el lagar yo solo;
ninguno de los pueblos estuvo conmigo.
Los he pisoteado en mi enojo;
los he aplastado en mi ira.
Su sangre salpicó mis vestidos,
y me manché toda la ropa.
4 ¡Ya tengo planeado el día de la venganza!
¡El año de mi redención ha llegado!
5 Miré, pero no hubo quien me ayudara,
me asombró que nadie me diera apoyo.
Mi propio brazo me dio la victoria;
mi propia ira me sostuvo.
6 En mi enojo pisoteé a los pueblos
y los embriagué con la copa de mi ira;
hice correr su sangre sobre la tierra».
Alabanza y oración
7 Recordaré las misericordias del Señor,
y sus hechos dignos de alabanza,
por todo lo que hizo por nosotros,
por su compasión y gran amor.
¡Sí, por la multitud de cosas buenas
que ha hecho por los descendientes de Israel!
8 Declaró: «Verdaderamente son mi pueblo,
hijos que no me engañarán».
Así se convirtió en el Salvador de ellos.
9 Si ellos se angustiaban, él también se angustiaba;
el ángel de su presencia los salvó.[b]
En su amor y misericordia los rescató;
los levantó y los llevó
en los tiempos de antaño.
10 Pero ellos se rebelaron
y afligieron a su Santo Espíritu.
Por eso se convirtió en su enemigo
y luchó él mismo contra ellos.
11 Su pueblo recordó los tiempos pasados,
los tiempos de Moisés:
¿Dónde está el que los hizo subir del mar,
con el pastor de su rebaño?
¿Dónde está el que puso
su santo Espíritu entre ellos,
12 el que hizo que su glorioso brazo
marchara a la derecha de Moisés,
el que separó las aguas a su paso,
para ganarse renombre eterno?
13 ¿Dónde está el que los guio a través del mar profundo,[c]
como a caballo en el desierto,
sin que ellos tropezaran?
14 El Espíritu del Señor les dio descanso,
como a ganado que pasta en la llanura.
Fue así como guiaste a tu pueblo,
para hacerte un nombre glorioso.
15 Mira bien desde el cielo;
observa desde tu morada santa y gloriosa.
¿Dónde están tu celo y tu poder?
¡Se nos niega tu abundante compasión y ternura!
16 Pero tú eres nuestro Padre,
aunque Abraham no nos conozca
ni nos reconozca Israel;
tú, Señor, eres nuestro Padre;
¡tu nombre ha sido siempre «nuestro Redentor»!
17 ¿Por qué, Señor, nos desvías de tus caminos
y endureces nuestro corazón para que no te temamos?
Vuelve por amor a tus siervos,
por las tribus que son tu herencia.
18 Tu pueblo poseyó por un tiempo tu santuario,
pero ahora lo han pisoteado nuestros enemigos.
19 Estamos como si nunca nos hubieras gobernado,
como si nunca hubiéramos llevado tu nombre.

The Lord’s Day of Vengeance
63 Who is this coming from Edom(A)
in crimson-stained garments from Bozrah –
this one who is splendid in his apparel,
striding in his formidable[a] might?
It is I, proclaiming vindication,[b]
powerful to save.
2 Why are your clothes red,
and your garments like one who treads a winepress?(B)
3 I trampled the winepress alone,
and no one from the nations was with me.
I trampled them in my anger
and ground them underfoot in my fury;
their blood spattered my garments,
and all my clothes were stained.
4 For I planned the day of vengeance,(C)
and the year of my redemption[c] came.
5 I looked, but there was no one to help,(D)
and I was amazed that no one assisted;
so my arm accomplished victory for me,
and my wrath assisted me.
6 I crushed nations in my anger;
I made them drunk with my wrath(E)
and poured out their blood on the ground.(F)
Remembrance of Grace
7 I will make known the Lord’s faithful love
and the Lord’s praiseworthy acts,
because of all the Lord has done for us –
even the many good things
he has done for the house of Israel,
which he did for them based on his compassion
and the abundance of his faithful love.
8 He said, ‘They are indeed my people,
children who will not be disloyal,’
and he became their Saviour.
9 In all their suffering, he suffered,[d](G)
and the angel of his presence saved them.
He redeemed them
because of his love and compassion;(H)
he lifted them up and carried them
all the days of the past.(I)
10 But they rebelled
and grieved his Holy Spirit.(J)
So he became their enemy
and fought against them.
11 Then he[e] remembered the days of the past,
the days of Moses and his people.
Where is he who brought them out of the sea
with the shepherds[f] of his flock?
Where is he who put his Holy Spirit among the flock?
12 He made his glorious strength
available at the right hand of Moses,
divided the water before them(K)
to make an eternal name for himself,
13 and led them through the depths
like a horse in the wilderness,
so that they did not stumble.
14 Like cattle that go down into the valley,
the Spirit of the Lord gave them[g] rest.
You led your people this way
to make a glorious name for yourself.
Israel’s Prayer
15 Look down from heaven and see(L)
from your lofty home – holy and beautiful.
Where is your zeal and your might?
Your yearning[h] and your compassion
are withheld from me.
16 Yet you are our Father,
even though Abraham does not know us
and Israel doesn’t recognise us.
You, Lord, are our Father;
your name is Our Redeemer(M)
from Ancient Times.
17 Why, Lord, do you make us stray from your ways?
You harden our hearts so that we do not fear[i] you.(N)
Return, because of your servants,
the tribes of your heritage.
18 Your holy people had a possession[j]
for a little while,
but our enemies have trampled down
your sanctuary.(O)
19 We have become like those you never ruled,
like those who did not bear your name.(P)
