Isaiah 62
Christian Standard Bible
Zion’s Restoration
62 I will not keep silent because of Zion,
and I will not keep still because of Jerusalem,(A)
until her righteousness shines like a bright light(B)
and her salvation, like a flaming torch.
2 Nations will see your righteousness(C)
and all kings, your glory.
You will be given a new name
that the Lord’s mouth will announce.(D)
3 You will be a glorious crown in the Lord’s hand,
and a royal diadem in the palm of your God’s hand.(E)
4 You will no longer be called Deserted,(F)
and your land will not be called Desolate;
instead, you will be called My Delight Is in Her,[a]
and your land Married;[b](G)
for the Lord delights in you,
and your land will be married.
5 For as a young man marries a young woman,
so your sons will marry you;
and as a groom rejoices over his bride,
so your God will rejoice over you.(H)
6 Jerusalem,
I have appointed watchmen on your walls;(I)
they will never be silent, day or night.
There is no rest for you,
who remind the Lord.
7 Do not give him rest
until he establishes and makes Jerusalem
the praise of the earth.(J)
8 The Lord has sworn with his right hand
and his strong arm:
I will no longer give your grain
to your enemies for food,(K)
and foreigners will not drink the new wine
for which you have labored.
9 For those who gather grain will eat it
and praise the Lord,
and those who harvest the grapes will drink the wine
in my holy courts.
10 Go out, go out through the city gates;
prepare a way for the people!
Build it up, build up the highway;(L)
clear away the stones!
Raise a banner for the peoples.(M)
11 Look, the Lord has proclaimed
to the ends of the earth,
“Say to Daughter Zion:(N)
Look, your salvation is coming,
his wages are with him,(O)
and his reward accompanies him.”
12 And they will be called[c] the Holy People,(P)
the Lord’s Redeemed;
and you will be called Cared For,
A City Not Deserted.

The Message
Look, Your Savior Comes!
62 1-5 Regarding Zion, I can’t keep my mouth shut,
regarding Jerusalem, I can’t hold my tongue,
Until her righteousness blazes down like the sun
and her salvation flames up like a torch.
Foreign countries will see your righteousness,
    and world leaders your glory.
You’ll get a brand-new name
straight from the mouth of God.
You’ll be a stunning crown in the palm of God’s hand,
a jeweled gold cup held high in the hand of your God.
No more will anyone call you Rejected,
and your country will no more be called Ruined.
You’ll be called Hephzibah (My Delight),
    and your land Beulah (Married),
Because God delights in you
and your land will be like a wedding celebration.
For as a young man marries his virgin bride,
    so your builder marries you,
And as a bridegroom is happy in his bride,
so your God is happy with you.
6-7 I’ve posted watchmen on your walls, Jerusalem.
Day and night they keep at it, praying, calling out,
    reminding God to remember.
They are to give him no peace until he does what he said,
until he makes Jerusalem famous as the City of Praise.
8-9 God has taken a solemn oath,
an oath he means to keep:
“Never again will I open your grain-filled barns
to your enemies to loot and eat.
Never again will foreigners drink the wine
that you worked so hard to produce.
No. The farmers who grow the food will eat the food
    and praise God for it.
And those who make the wine will drink the wine
    in my holy courtyards.”
10-12 Walk out of the gates. Get going!
Get the road ready for the people.
Build the highway. Get at it!
    Clear the debris,
hoist high a flag, a signal to all peoples!
Yes! God has broadcast to all the world:
“Tell daughter Zion, ‘Look! Your Savior comes,
Ready to do what he said he’d do,
prepared to complete what he promised.’”
Zion will be called new names: Holy People, God-Redeemed,
    Sought-Out, City-Not-Forsaken.
