Profecía contra Damasco
17 Oráculo[a] contra[b] Damasco(A):
«Damasco dejará de ser ciudad(B),
Y vendrá a ser un montón de ruinas(C).
2 -»Abandonadas están las ciudades de Aroer[c](D).
Serán para los rebaños, para que se echen[d] en ellas(E),
Y no habrá quien los espante(F).
3 -»Desaparecerá la fortaleza de Efraín
Y la soberanía[e] de Damasco(G),
Y el resto de Aram
Vendrá a ser como la gloria de los israelitas(H)»,
Declara el Señor de los ejércitos.
Juicio sobre Israel
4 ¶«En aquel día la gloria de Jacob disminuirá(I),
Y enflaquecerá la gordura de su cuerpo[f](J).
5 -»Será como cuando el segador recoge la cosecha[g](K),
Y su brazo cosecha las espigas.
O será como el que recoge espigas
En el valle de Refaim(L).
6 -»Pero quedarán en él rebuscos como cuando se varea el olivo(M):
Dos o tres aceitunas en la rama más alta,
Cuatro o cinco en las ramas de un árbol fructífero»,
Declara el Señor, Dios de Israel.
7 En aquel día el hombre tendrá en estima a su Hacedor,
Y sus ojos mirarán al Santo de Israel(N).
8 No tendrá en estima los altares(O), obra de sus manos,
Ni mirará a lo que sus dedos hicieron(P):
Las Aseras[h] y los altares de incienso[i](Q).
9 Aquel día tus[j] ciudades fuertes serán como lugares
Abandonados en el bosque,
O como ramas[k] que fueron abandonadas[l] delante de los israelitas.
La tierra será una desolación.
10 Porque te olvidaste(R) del Dios de tu salvación(S)
Y no te acordaste de la Roca(T) de tu refugio.
Por tanto, siembras plantas deleitosas
Y les injertas[m] sarmientos de un dios extraño.
11 El día que las plantes las cercarás con cuidado,
Y por la mañana harás que florezca tu semilla(U).
Pero la cosecha será un montón inservible
En el día de enfermedad y de dolor incurable(V).
12 ¶¡Ay!, bramar de muchos pueblos
Que braman como el bramido de los mares(W);
Rugir de naciones
Que rugen como el rugido de violentas aguas(X).
13 Las naciones rugen como el rugido de muchas aguas(Y),
Pero Él las reprenderá(Z) y huirán lejos.
Serán perseguidas como la paja de los montes delante del viento,
Y como polvo de torbellino delante del vendaval(AA).
14 Al tiempo de la tarde, hay terror.
Antes de la mañana ya no existen(AB).
Tal[n] será la porción de los que nos despojan,
Y la suerte de los que nos saquean.

Ang Mensahe Tungkol sa Damascus
17 Ang mensaheng itoʼy tungkol sa Damascus:[a] “Makinig kayo! Ang Damascus ay hindi na magiging lungsod dahil magigiba ito. 2 Wala nang titira sa lungsod ng Aroer. Magiging pastulan na lamang ito ng mga hayop, at walang gagambala sa kanila roon. 3 Mawawasak ang mga napapaderang mga lungsod ng Israel,[b] at mawawala ang kapangyarihan ng Damascus. Ang sasapitin ng mga matitira sa Aram[c] ay katulad ng sinapit ng mga taga-Israel. Ako, ang Panginoong Makapangyarihan, ang nagsasabi nito.
4 “Pagdating ng araw na iyon, mawawala na ang kapangyarihan ng Israel, at ang kanyang kayamanan ay mapapalitan ng kahirapan. 5 Matutulad siya sa taniman ng mga butil na ginapas na ng mga nag-aani, tulad ng taniman sa Lambak ng Refaim pagkatapos ng anihan. 6 Iilan lang ang matitira sa kanyang mga mamamayan. Matutulad siya sa puno ng olibo pagkatapos pitasin ang mga bunga. Maaaring dalawa o tatlo lamang ang bungang matitira sa pinakamataas na mga sanga, at apat o limang bunga sa ibang mga sanga. Ako, ang Panginoong Dios ng Israel, ang nagsasabi nito.”
7 Sa araw na iyon, lalapit na ang mga tao sa lumikha sa kanila, sa Banal na Dios ng Israel. 8 Hindi na nila papansinin ang mga altar na sila mismo ang gumawa. Hindi na rin nila papansinin ang mga posteng simbolo ng diosang si Ashera, pati ang mga altar na pinagsusunugan nila ng insenso na gawa rin lang ng kanilang mga kamay. 9 Sa araw na iyon, ang matitibay nilang lungsod ay mawawasak at iiwan na lang nila, katulad ng mga lungsod ng mga Amoreo at Hiveo[d] na iniwan ng mga ito nang dumating ang mga Israelita.
10 Kinalimutan ninyo ang Dios na inyong Tagapagligtas at Bato na kanlungan. Kaya kahit na magtanim kayo ng magagandang klaseng tanim, katulad ng ubas na galing sa ibang lugar, 11 at kahit na tumubo ito at mamulaklak sa araw din na inyong itinanim, wala kayong makukuhang bunga. Nagpagod lang kayo at naghirap.
12 Tingnan nʼyo! Nagkakagulo ang napakaraming tao mula sa mga bansa. Ang ingay nila ay parang ugong ng malalaking alon. 13 Pero kahit na katulad sila ng malalaking alon na umuugong, tatakas sila kapag sinaway sila ng Dios. Matutulad sila sa ipa sa mga burol na ipinapadpad ng hangin at ng dayaming tinatangay ng ipu-ipo. 14 Sa gabiʼy naghahasik sila ng lagim, pero kinaumagahan nilipol sila. Iyan ang mangyayari sa mga sumasalakay sa atin at mananamsam ng mga ari-arian natin.

An Oracle against Damascus
17 An oracle(A) against Damascus:(B)
Look, Damascus is no longer a city.
It has become a ruined heap.
2 The cities of Aroer are forsaken;
they will be places for flocks.
They will lie down without fear.
3 The fortress disappears from Ephraim,(C)
and a kingdom from Damascus.
The remnant of Aram will be
like the splendor of the Israelites.
This is the declaration of the Lord of Hosts.
Judgment against Israel
4 On that day
the splendor of Jacob will fade,
and his healthy body[a] will become emaciated.(D)
5 It will be as if a reaper had gathered standing grain—
his arm harvesting the heads of grain—
and as if one had gleaned heads of grain
in the Valley of Rephaim.(E)
6 Only gleanings will be left in Israel,(F)
as if an olive tree had been beaten—
two or three berries at the very top of the tree,
four or five on its fruitful branches.
This is the declaration of the Lord,
the God of Israel.
7 On that day people will look to their Maker and will turn their eyes to the Holy One of Israel.(G) 8 They will not look to the altars(H) they made with their hands or to the Asherahs and incense altars(I) they made with their fingers.
9 On that day their strong cities will be
like the abandoned woods and mountaintops[b]
that were abandoned because of the Israelites;
there will be desolation.
10 For you have forgotten the God of your salvation,
and you have failed to remember
the rock of your strength;(J)
therefore you will plant beautiful plants
and set out cuttings from exotic vines.
11 On the day that you plant,
you will help them to grow,
and in the morning
you will help your seed to sprout,
but the harvest will vanish
on the day of disease and incurable pain.
Judgment against the Nations
12 Ah! The roar of many peoples—
they roar like the roaring of the seas.
The raging of the nations—
they rage like the raging of mighty waters.(K)
13 The nations rage like the raging of many waters.(L)
He rebukes them, and they flee far away,(M)
driven before the wind like chaff on the hills(N)
and like tumbleweeds before a gale.
14 In the evening—sudden terror!
Before morning—it is gone!
This is the fate of those who plunder us
and the lot of those who ravage us.
