Confesión de la maldad de Israel
59 He aquí, no se ha acortado la mano del Señor para salvar(A);
ni se ha endurecido su oído para oír(B).
2 Pero vuestras iniquidades han hecho separación entre vosotros y vuestro Dios(C),
y vuestros pecados le han hecho esconder su rostro[a] de vosotros para no escucharos(D).
3 Porque vuestras manos[b] están manchadas de sangre(E),
y vuestros dedos de iniquidad;
vuestros labios hablan mentira(F),
vuestra lengua murmura maldad.
4 No hay quien clame con justicia(G) ni quien abogue con honestidad[c](H).
Confían en la confusión, y hablan falsedades(I);
conciben malicia, y dan a luz iniquidad(J).
5 Incuban huevos de áspides y tejen telas de araña(K);
el que come de sus huevos muere,
y del[d] que es aplastado sale una víbora.
6 Sus telas no servirán de vestidos,
ni se cubrirán con sus obras(L);
sus obras son obras de iniquidad(M),
y actos de violencia hay en sus manos[e](N).
7 Sus pies corren al mal,
y se apresuran a derramar sangre inocente(O);
sus pensamientos son pensamientos de iniquidad(P),
desolación y destrucción hay en sus caminos.
8 Camino de paz no conocen(Q),
y no hay justicia[f] en sus senderos(R);
han torcido a su favor las sendas,
cualquiera que ande en ellas[g] no conoce la paz(S).
9 Por tanto el derecho está lejos de nosotros,
y no nos alcanza la justicia(T);
esperamos luz, y he aquí tinieblas,
claridad, pero andamos en oscuridad(U).
10 Vamos palpando la pared como ciegos,
y andamos a tientas como los que no tienen ojos(V);
tropezamos al mediodía como al anochecer(W),
entre los robustos somos como muertos(X).
11 Todos nosotros gruñimos como osos,
y gemimos tristemente como palomas(Y);
esperamos la justicia[h], pero no la hay,
la salvación, pero está lejos de nosotros(Z).
12 Porque se han multiplicado nuestras transgresiones delante de ti(AA),
y nuestros pecados testifican[i] contra nosotros;
porque nuestras transgresiones están con nosotros(AB),
y conocemos nuestras iniquidades:
13 transgredir y negar al Señor(AC),
apartarse de nuestro Dios,
hablar de opresión y rebelión(AD),
concebir y proferir en el corazón palabras mentirosas(AE).
14 Se ha vuelto atrás el derecho,
y la justicia permanece lejos;
porque ha tropezado en la plaza la verdad,
y la rectitud no puede entrar(AF).
15 Sí, falta la verdad,
y el que se aparta del mal es hecho presa(AG).
Y lo vio el Señor,
y desagradó[j] a sus ojos que no hubiera derecho(AH).
16 Vio que no había nadie(AI),
y se asombró de que no hubiera quien intercediera.
Entonces su brazo le trajo salvación,
y su justicia le sostuvo(AJ).
17 Se puso la justicia como coraza(AK),
y el yelmo de salvación en su cabeza(AL);
como vestidura se puso ropas de venganza(AM),
y se envolvió de celo como de un manto(AN).
18 Conforme a los hechos[k], así Él pagará:
furor para sus adversarios, justo pago[l] para sus enemigos;
a las islas[m] dará[n] su pago[o](AO).
19 Y temerán desde el occidente el nombre del Señor(AP)
y desde el nacimiento del sol su gloria(AQ),
porque Él vendrá como torrente impetuoso[p](AR),
que el viento del Señor impele.
20 Y vendrá un Redentor a Sión(AS)
y a los que en Jacob se aparten de la transgresión —declara el Señor(AT).
21 En cuanto a mí —dice el Señor—, este es mi pacto con ellos(AU): Mi Espíritu que está sobre ti(AV), y mis palabras que he puesto en tu boca, no se apartarán de tu boca(AW), ni de la boca de tu descendencia[q], ni de la boca de la descendencia[r] de tu descendencia[s] —dice el Señor— desde ahora y para siempre.

Sin, Confession and Redemption
59 Surely the arm(A) of the Lord is not too short(B) to save,
nor his ear too dull to hear.(C)
2 But your iniquities have separated(D)
you from your God;
your sins have hidden his face from you,
so that he will not hear.(E)
3 For your hands are stained with blood,(F)
your fingers with guilt.(G)
Your lips have spoken falsely,(H)
and your tongue mutters wicked things.
4 No one calls for justice;(I)
no one pleads a case with integrity.
They rely(J) on empty arguments, they utter lies;(K)
they conceive trouble and give birth to evil.(L)
5 They hatch the eggs of vipers(M)
and spin a spider’s web.(N)
Whoever eats their eggs will die,
and when one is broken, an adder is hatched.
6 Their cobwebs are useless for clothing;
they cannot cover themselves with what they make.(O)
Their deeds are evil deeds,
and acts of violence(P) are in their hands.
7 Their feet rush into sin;
they are swift to shed innocent blood.(Q)
They pursue evil schemes;(R)
acts of violence mark their ways.(S)
8 The way of peace they do not know;(T)
there is no justice in their paths.
They have turned them into crooked roads;(U)
no one who walks along them will know peace.(V)
9 So justice is far from us,
and righteousness does not reach us.
We look for light, but all is darkness;(W)
for brightness, but we walk in deep shadows.
10 Like the blind(X) we grope along the wall,
feeling our way like people without eyes.
At midday we stumble(Y) as if it were twilight;
among the strong, we are like the dead.(Z)
11 We all growl like bears;
we moan mournfully like doves.(AA)
We look for justice, but find none;
for deliverance, but it is far away.
12 For our offenses(AB) are many in your sight,
and our sins testify(AC) against us.
Our offenses are ever with us,
and we acknowledge our iniquities:(AD)
13 rebellion(AE) and treachery against the Lord,
turning our backs(AF) on our God,
inciting revolt and oppression,(AG)
uttering lies(AH) our hearts have conceived.
14 So justice(AI) is driven back,
and righteousness(AJ) stands at a distance;
truth(AK) has stumbled in the streets,
honesty cannot enter.
15 Truth(AL) is nowhere to be found,
and whoever shuns evil becomes a prey.
The Lord looked and was displeased
that there was no justice.(AM)
16 He saw that there was no one,(AN)
he was appalled that there was no one to intervene;(AO)
so his own arm achieved salvation(AP) for him,
and his own righteousness(AQ) sustained him.
17 He put on righteousness as his breastplate,(AR)
and the helmet(AS) of salvation on his head;
he put on the garments(AT) of vengeance(AU)
and wrapped himself in zeal(AV) as in a cloak.
18 According to what they have done,
so will he repay(AW)
wrath to his enemies
and retribution to his foes;
he will repay the islands(AX) their due.
19 From the west,(AY) people will fear the name of the Lord,
and from the rising of the sun,(AZ) they will revere his glory.(BA)
For he will come like a pent-up flood
that the breath(BB) of the Lord drives along.[a]
20 “The Redeemer(BC) will come to Zion,(BD)
to those in Jacob who repent of their sins,”(BE)
declares the Lord.
21 “As for me, this is my covenant(BF) with them,” says the Lord. “My Spirit,(BG) who is on you, will not depart from you,(BH) and my words that I have put in your mouth(BI) will always be on your lips, on the lips of your children and on the lips of their descendants—from this time on and forever,” says the Lord.
