El sacrificio de Cristo, ofrecido una vez y para siempre
10 La ley es solo una sombra de los bienes venideros, y no la presencia[a] misma de estas realidades. Por eso nunca puede, mediante los mismos sacrificios que se ofrecen sin cesar año tras año, hacer perfectos a los que adoran. 2 De otra manera, ¿no habrían dejado ya de hacerse sacrificios? Pues los que rinden culto, purificados de una vez por todas, ya no se habrían sentido culpables de pecado. 3 Pero esos sacrificios son un recordatorio anual de los pecados, 4 ya que es imposible que la sangre de los toros y de los machos cabríos quite los pecados.
5 Por eso, al entrar en el mundo, Cristo dijo:
«A ti no te complacen sacrificios ni ofrendas;
en su lugar, me preparaste un cuerpo;
6 no te agradaron ni holocaustos
ni sacrificios por el pecado.
7 Por eso dije: “Aquí me tienes
—como el libro dice de mí—.
He venido, oh Dios, a hacer tu voluntad”».[b]
8 Primero dijo: «Sacrificios y ofrendas, holocaustos y expiaciones no te complacen ni fueron de tu agrado» (a pesar de que la ley exigía que se ofrecieran). 9 Luego añadió: «Aquí me tienes: He venido a hacer tu voluntad». Así quitó lo primero para establecer lo segundo. 10 Y en virtud de esa voluntad somos santificados mediante el sacrificio del cuerpo de Jesucristo, ofrecido una vez y para siempre.
11 Todo sacerdote celebra el culto día tras día ofreciendo repetidas veces los mismos sacrificios, que nunca pueden quitar los pecados. 12 Pero este sacerdote, después de ofrecer por los pecados un solo sacrificio para siempre, se sentó a la derecha de Dios, 13 en espera de que sus enemigos sean puestos por estrado de sus pies. 14 Porque con un solo sacrificio ha hecho perfectos para siempre a los que está santificando.
15 También el Espíritu Santo nos da testimonio de ello. Primero dice:
16 «Este es el pacto que haré con ellos
después de aquel tiempo —dice el Señor—:
Pondré mis leyes en su corazón,
y las escribiré en su mente».[c]
17 Después añade:
«Y nunca más me acordaré de sus pecados y maldades».[d]
18 Y, cuando estos han sido perdonados, ya no hace falta otro sacrificio por el pecado.
Llamada a la perseverancia
19 Así que, hermanos, mediante la sangre de Jesús, tenemos plena libertad para entrar en el Lugar Santísimo, 20 por el camino nuevo y vivo que él nos ha abierto a través de la cortina, es decir, a través de su cuerpo; 21 y tenemos además un gran sacerdote al frente de la familia de Dios. 22 Acerquémonos, pues, a Dios con corazón sincero y con la plena seguridad que da la fe, interiormente purificados de una conciencia culpable y exteriormente lavados con agua pura. 23 Mantengamos firme la esperanza que profesamos, porque fiel es el que hizo la promesa. 24 Preocupémonos los unos por los otros, a fin de estimularnos al amor y a las buenas obras. 25 No dejemos de congregarnos, como acostumbran hacerlo algunos, sino animémonos unos a otros, y con mayor razón ahora que vemos que aquel día se acerca.
26 Si después de recibir el conocimiento de la verdad pecamos obstinadamente, ya no hay sacrificio por los pecados. 27 Solo queda una terrible expectativa de juicio, el fuego ardiente que ha de devorar a los enemigos de Dios. 28 Cualquiera que rechazaba la ley de Moisés moría irremediablemente por el testimonio de dos o tres testigos. 29 ¿Cuánto mayor castigo pensáis que merece el que ha pisoteado al Hijo de Dios, que ha profanado la sangre del pacto por la cual había sido santificado y que ha insultado al Espíritu de la gracia? 30 Pues conocemos al que dijo: «Mía es la venganza; yo pagaré»;[e] y también: «El Señor juzgará a su pueblo».[f] 31 ¡Terrible cosa es caer en las manos del Dios vivo!
32 Recordad aquellos días pasados cuando vosotros, después de haber sido iluminados, sostuvisteis una dura lucha y soportasteis mucho sufrimiento. 33 Unas veces os visteis expuestos públicamente al insulto y a la persecución; otras veces os solidarizasteis con los que eran tratados de igual manera. 34 También os compadecisteis de los encarcelados y, cuando a vosotros os confiscaron vuestros bienes, lo aceptasteis con alegría, conscientes de que teníais un patrimonio mejor y más permanente.
35 Así que no perdáis la confianza, porque esta será grandemente recompensada. 36 Necesitáis perseverar para que, después de haber cumplido la voluntad de Dios, recibáis lo que él ha prometido. 37 Pues dentro de muy poco tiempo,
«el que ha de venir vendrá, y no tardará.
38 Pero mi justo[g] vivirá por la fe.
Y, si se vuelve atrás,
no será de mi agrado».[h]
39 Pero nosotros no somos de los que se vuelven atrás y acaban por perderse, sino de los que tienen fe y preservan su vida.

10 σκιαν γαρ εχων ο νομος των μελλοντων αγαθων ουκ αυτην την εικονα των πραγματων κατ ενιαυτον ταις αυταις θυσιαις ας προσφερουσιν εις το διηνεκες ουδεποτε δυνανται τους προσερχομενους τελειωσαι
2 επει ουκ αν επαυσαντο προσφερομεναι δια το μηδεμιαν εχειν ετι συνειδησιν αμαρτιων τους λατρευοντας απαξ κεκαθαρισμενους
3 αλλ εν αυταις αναμνησις αμαρτιων κατ ενιαυτον
4 αδυνατον γαρ αιμα ταυρων και τραγων αφαιρειν αμαρτιας
5 διο εισερχομενος εις τον κοσμον λεγει θυσιαν και προσφοραν ουκ ηθελησας σωμα δε κατηρτισω μοι
6 ολοκαυτωματα και περι αμαρτιας ουκ ευδοκησας
7 τοτε ειπον ιδου ηκω εν κεφαλιδι βιβλιου γεγραπται περι εμου του ποιησαι ο θεος το θελημα σου
8 ανωτερον λεγων οτι θυσιας και προσφορας και ολοκαυτωματα και περι αμαρτιας ουκ ηθελησας ουδε ευδοκησας αιτινες κατα νομον προσφερονται
9 τοτε ειρηκεν ιδου ηκω του ποιησαι το θελημα σου αναιρει το πρωτον ινα το δευτερον στηση
10 εν ω θεληματι ηγιασμενοι εσμεν δια της προσφορας του σωματος ιησου χριστου εφαπαξ
11 και πας μεν ιερευς εστηκεν καθ ημεραν λειτουργων και τας αυτας πολλακις προσφερων θυσιας αιτινες ουδεποτε δυνανται περιελειν αμαρτιας
12 ουτος δε μιαν υπερ αμαρτιων προσενεγκας θυσιαν εις το διηνεκες εκαθισεν εν δεξια του θεου
13 το λοιπον εκδεχομενος εως τεθωσιν οι εχθροι αυτου υποποδιον των ποδων αυτου
14 μια γαρ προσφορα τετελειωκεν εις το διηνεκες τους αγιαζομενους
15 μαρτυρει δε ημιν και το πνευμα το αγιον μετα γαρ το ειρηκεναι
16 αυτη η διαθηκη ην διαθησομαι προς αυτους μετα τας ημερας εκεινας λεγει κυριος διδους νομους μου επι καρδιας αυτων και επι την διανοιαν αυτων επιγραψω αυτους
17 και των αμαρτιων αυτων και των ανομιων αυτων ου μη μνησθησομαι ετι
18 οπου δε αφεσις τουτων ουκετι προσφορα περι αμαρτιας
19 εχοντες ουν αδελφοι παρρησιαν εις την εισοδον των αγιων εν τω αιματι ιησου
20 ην ενεκαινισεν ημιν οδον προσφατον και ζωσαν δια του καταπετασματος τουτ εστιν της σαρκος αυτου
21 και ιερεα μεγαν επι τον οικον του θεου
22 προσερχωμεθα μετα αληθινης καρδιας εν πληροφορια πιστεως ρεραντισμενοι τας καρδιας απο συνειδησεως πονηρας και λελουσμενοι το σωμα υδατι καθαρω
23 κατεχωμεν την ομολογιαν της ελπιδος ακλινη πιστος γαρ ο επαγγειλαμενος
24 και κατανοωμεν αλληλους εις παροξυσμον αγαπης και καλων εργων
25 μη εγκαταλειποντες την επισυναγωγην εαυτων καθως εθος τισιν αλλα παρακαλουντες και τοσουτω μαλλον οσω βλεπετε εγγιζουσαν την ημεραν
26 εκουσιως γαρ αμαρτανοντων ημων μετα το λαβειν την επιγνωσιν της αληθειας ουκετι περι αμαρτιων απολειπεται θυσια
27 φοβερα δε τις εκδοχη κρισεως και πυρος ζηλος εσθιειν μελλοντος τους υπεναντιους
28 αθετησας τις νομον μωυσεως χωρις οικτιρμων επι δυσιν η τρισιν μαρτυσιν αποθνησκει
29 ποσω δοκειτε χειρονος αξιωθησεται τιμωριας ο τον υιον του θεου καταπατησας και το αιμα της διαθηκης κοινον ηγησαμενος εν ω ηγιασθη και το πνευμα της χαριτος ενυβρισας
30 οιδαμεν γαρ τον ειποντα εμοι εκδικησις εγω ανταποδωσω και παλιν κρινει κυριος τον λαον αυτου
31 φοβερον το εμπεσειν εις χειρας θεου ζωντος
32 αναμιμνησκεσθε δε τας προτερον ημερας εν αις φωτισθεντες πολλην αθλησιν υπεμεινατε παθηματων
33 τουτο μεν ονειδισμοις τε και θλιψεσιν θεατριζομενοι τουτο δε κοινωνοι των ουτως αναστρεφομενων γενηθεντες
34 και γαρ τοις δεσμιοις συνεπαθησατε και την αρπαγην των υπαρχοντων υμων μετα χαρας προσεδεξασθε γινωσκοντες εχειν εαυτους κρειττονα υπαρξιν και μενουσαν
35 μη αποβαλητε ουν την παρρησιαν υμων ητις εχει μεγαλην μισθαποδοσιαν
36 υπομονης γαρ εχετε χρειαν ινα το θελημα του θεου ποιησαντες κομισησθε την επαγγελιαν
37 ετι γαρ μικρον οσον οσον ο ερχομενος ηξει και ου χρονισει
38 ο δε δικαιος [μου] εκ πιστεως ζησεται και εαν υποστειληται ουκ ευδοκει η ψυχη μου εν αυτω
39 ημεις δε ουκ εσμεν υποστολης εις απωλειαν αλλα πιστεως εις περιποιησιν ψυχης
Hebrews 10
New King James Version
Animal Sacrifices Insufficient
10 For the law, having a (A)shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, (B)can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect. 2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? For the worshipers, once [a]purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins. 3 But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. 4 For (C)it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins.
Christ’s Death Fulfills God’s Will(D)
5 Therefore, when He came into the world, He said:
(E)“Sacrifice and offering You did not desire,
But a body You have prepared for Me.
6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin
You had no pleasure.
7 Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come—
In the volume of the book it is written of Me—
To do Your will, O God.’ ”
8 Previously saying, “Sacrifice and offering, burnt offerings, and offerings for sin You did not desire, nor had pleasure in them” (which are offered according to the law), 9 then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will, [b]O God.” He takes away the first that He may establish the second. 10 (F)By that will we have been [c]sanctified (G)through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
Christ’s Death Perfects the Sanctified
11 And every priest stands (H)ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 (I)But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down (J)at the right hand of God, 13 from that time waiting (K)till His enemies are made His footstool. 14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being [d]sanctified.
15 But the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us; for after He had said before,
16 (L)“This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,” 17 then He adds, (M)“Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” 18 Now where there is [e]remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin.
Hold Fast Your Confession
19 Therefore, brethren, having (N)boldness[f] to enter (O)the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and (P)living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21 and having a High Priest over the house of God, 22 let us (Q)draw near with a true heart (R)in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for (S)He who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 (T)not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and (U)so much the more as you see (V)the Day approaching.
The Just Live by Faith
26 For (W)if we sin willfully (X)after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there (Y)no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and (Z)fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. 28 Anyone who has rejected Moses’ law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three (AA)witnesses. 29 (AB)Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, (AC)counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, (AD)and insulted the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know Him who said, (AE)“Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” [g]says the Lord. And again, (AF)“The Lord will judge His people.” 31 (AG)It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
32 But (AH)recall the former days in which, after you were [h]illuminated, you endured a great struggle with sufferings: 33 partly while you were made (AI)a spectacle both by reproaches and tribulations, and partly while (AJ)you became companions of those who were so treated; 34 for you had compassion on [i]me (AK)in my chains, and (AL)joyfully accepted the plundering of your [j]goods, knowing that (AM)you have a better and an enduring possession for yourselves [k]in heaven. 35 Therefore do not cast away your confidence, (AN)which has great reward. 36 (AO)For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, (AP)you may receive the promise:
37 “For (AQ)yet a little while,
And (AR)He[l] who is coming will come and will not [m]tarry.
38 Now (AS)the[n] just shall live by faith;
But if anyone draws back,
My soul has no pleasure in him.”
39 But we are not of those (AT)who draw back to [o]perdition, but of those who (AU)believe to the saving of the soul.
