Ngôi Lời Trở Nên Xác Thịt
1 Ban đầu Ngôi Lời[a] đã hiện hữu, Ngôi Lời đã hiện hữu với Ðức Chúa Trời, và Ngôi Lời là Ðức Chúa Trời. 2 Ngài đã hiện hữu với Ðức Chúa Trời từ ban đầu. 3 Mọi vật do Ngài tạo nên; chẳng vật chi đã được tạo nên mà không bởi Ngài. 4 Trong Ngài sự sống đã hiện hữu, và sự sống là ánh sáng của nhân loại. 5 Ánh sáng chiếu vào bóng tối, và bóng tối chẳng thắng hơn được ánh sáng.
6 Có một người được Ðức Chúa Trời sai đến tên là Giăng. 7 Ông đến để làm nhân chứng; ông làm chứng về ánh sáng, để nhờ ông mọi người có thể tin. 8 Ông không phải là ánh sáng, nhưng ông đến để làm chứng về ánh sáng. 9 Ðó là ánh sáng thật đã đến thế gian soi sáng mọi người.
10 Ngài đã vào thế gian, thế gian đã được tạo nên bởi Ngài, nhưng thế gian chẳng biết Ngài. 11 Ngài đã đến với dân Ngài, nhưng dân Ngài chẳng nhận Ngài. 12 Nhưng hễ ai đã nhận Ngài, Ngài ban cho quyền phép trở nên con cái Ðức Chúa Trời, tức cho những ai tin vào danh Ngài. 13 Ðó là những người được sinh ra không bởi khí huyết, không bởi dục vọng xác thịt, không bởi ý người, nhưng bởi Ðức Chúa Trời.
14 Ngôi Lời đã trở nên xác thịt và ngự[b] giữa chúng ta. Chúng tôi đã chiêm ngưỡng vinh quang Ngài, thật là vinh quang của Con Một đến từ Ðức Chúa Cha, tràn đầy ân sủng và chân lý.
15 Giăng đã làm chứng về Ngài và công bố rằng, “Ðây là Ðấng tôi đã nói, ‘Ðấng đến sau tôi cao trọng hơn tôi, vì Ngài hiện hữu trước tôi.’”
16 Từ sự phong phú của Ngài tất cả chúng ta đã nhận hết ân sủng này đến ân sủng khác. 17 Luật Pháp đã được ban cho qua Môi-se, nhưng ân sủng và chân lý thì đến từ Ðức Chúa Jesus Christ. 18 Chưa có ai thấy Ðức Chúa Trời bao giờ, ngoại trừ Con Một của Ðức Chúa Trời, Ðấng ở trong lòng Ðức Chúa Cha; Ngài đã bày tỏ cho chúng ta biết về Ðức Chúa Cha.
Lời Chứng của Giăng Báp-tít
(Mat 3:1-12; Mác 1:1-8; Lu 3:1-18)
19 Ðây là lời chứng của Giăng khi người Do-thái phái mấy vị tư tế và người Lê-vi từ Giê-ru-sa-lem đến hỏi ông, “Ông là ai?”
20 Giăng xưng nhận và chẳng chối chi hết. Ông xưng nhận rằng, “Tôi không phải là Ðấng Christ.”[c]
21 Họ lại hỏi, “Vậy ông là ai? Ông có phải là Ê-li chăng?”
Ông đáp, “Không phải.”
“Ông có phải là một đấng tiên tri chăng?”
Ông trả lời, “Không.”
22 Họ hỏi ông, “Vậy thì ông là ai? Xin nói cho chúng tôi biết để chúng tôi có thể trả lời cho những người đã sai chúng tôi. Ông tự cho mình là ai?”
23 Giăng đáp, “Tôi là tiếng kêu trong đồng hoang rằng, ‘Hãy làm bằng thẳng con đường của Chúa,’
24 Trong những người được sai đến có mấy người Pha-ri-si. 25 Họ hỏi Giăng, “Nếu ông không phải là Ðấng Christ, cũng không phải là Ê-li, và không phải là một đấng tiên tri, ông lấy tư cách gì làm báp-têm?”
26 Giăng trả lời họ, “Tôi làm báp-têm bằng nước, nhưng có một Ðấng ở giữa các người mà các người không biết. 27 Ngài là Ðấng đến sau tôi, tôi không xứng đáng mở dây giày cho Ngài.”
28 Những điều ấy đã xảy ra tại Bê-tha-ni, bên kia Sông Giô-đanh, nơi Giăng làm báp-têm.
Chiên Con của Ðức Chúa Trời
29 Hôm sau khi Giăng thấy Ðức Chúa Jesus đang tiến về phía mình, ông nói, “Kìa, Chiên Con của Ðức Chúa Trời, Ðấng cất đi tội lỗi của thế gian! 30 Ấy là về Ngài mà tôi đã nói, ‘Ðấng đến sau tôi cao trọng hơn tôi, vì Ngài hiện hữu trước tôi.’ 31 Tôi không biết Ngài, nhưng vì để Ngài được tỏ ra cho dân I-sơ-ra-ên, tôi đến làm báp-têm bằng nước.”
32 Giăng làm chứng rằng, “Tôi đã thấy Ðức Thánh Linh từ trời ngự xuống trên Ngài như một chim bồ câu và cứ ở trên Ngài. 33 Tôi không biết Ngài, nhưng Ðấng sai tôi làm báp-têm bằng nước đã bảo tôi rằng, ‘Hễ ngươi thấy ai mà Ðức Thánh Linh ngự xuống và cứ ở trên thì đó là Ðấng sẽ làm báp-têm bằng Ðức Thánh Linh.’ 34 Vì tôi đã thấy như thế, nên tôi làm chứng rằng người này là Con Ðức Chúa Trời.”
Các Môn Ðồ Ðầu Tiên
(Mat 4:18-22; Mác 1:16-20; Lu 5:2-11)
35 Hôm sau Giăng đang đứng với hai môn đồ của ông, 36 khi thấy Ðức Chúa Jesus đi qua, ông nói, “Kìa, Chiên Con của Ðức Chúa Trời!”
37 Hai môn đồ nghe ông nói thế, họ đi theo Ðức Chúa Jesus. 38 Ðức Chúa Jesus quay lại và thấy hai người theo mình, Ngài hỏi, “Các ngươi tìm gì?”
Họ trả lời Ngài, “Ra-bi! ( nghĩa là, Thưa Thầy!) Thầy ở đâu?”
39 Ngài trả lời họ, “Hãy đến xem.”
Họ đến và thấy chỗ Ngài ở, và họ ở lại với Ngài hôm đó, vì lúc ấy đã khoảng bốn giờ chiều.[d]
40 Một trong hai người đã nghe Giăng nói và đi theo Ngài là Anh-rê em của Si-môn Phi-rơ. 41 Trước hết, Anh-rê đi tìm anh ông là Si-môn và nói, “Chúng tôi đã gặp Ðấng Mê-si-a” ( nghĩa là Ðấng Christ). 42 Rồi ông dẫn anh ông đến Ðức Chúa Jesus.
Ðức Chúa Jesus nhìn Si-môn và nói, “Ngươi là Si-môn con của Giăng. Ngươi sẽ được gọi là Sê-pha[e] ( nghĩa là Phi-rơ[f]).”
Chúa Gọi Phi-líp và Na-tha-na-ên
43 Hôm sau Ðức Chúa Jesus quyết định đến Ga-li-lê; Ngài tìm Phi-líp và nói với ông, “Hãy theo Ta.” 44 Phi-líp là người ở Bết-sai-đa, đồng thành với Anh-rê và Phi-rơ. 45 Phi-líp tìm Na-tha-na-ên và nói với ông, “Chúng tôi đã gặp Ðấng mà Môi-se đã viết trong Luật Pháp, và Các Tiên Tri cũng đã viết về Ngài, Ðức Chúa Jesus ở Na-xa-rét, con của Giô-sép.”
46 Na-tha-na-ên nói với ông, “Có gì tốt ra từ Na-xa-rét sao?”
Phi-líp đáp, “Mời bạn đến xem.”
47 Ðức Chúa Jesus thấy Na-tha-na-ên đến với mình, Ngài nói về ông, “Ðây là một người I-sơ-ra-ên thật, trong người ấy chẳng có điều chi gian dối.”
48 Na-tha-na-ên hỏi Ngài, “Làm sao Thầy biết con?”
Ðức Chúa Jesus trả lời và nói với ông, “Trước khi Phi-líp gọi ngươi, khi ngươi ở dưới cây vả, Ta đã thấy ngươi.”
49 Na-tha-na-ên nói với Ngài, “Thưa Thầy, Thầy là Con Ðức Chúa Trời, Thầy là Vua của I-sơ-ra-ên.”
50 Ðức Chúa Jesus đáp lời và nói với ông, “Vì Ta nói với ngươi rằng Ta đã thấy ngươi dưới cây vả, nên ngươi tin phải không? Ngươi sẽ thấy những việc lớn hơn thế nữa.” 51 Ðoạn Ngài nói tiếp với ông, “Quả thật, quả thật, Ta nói với các ngươi, các ngươi sẽ thấy trời mở ra, và các thiên sứ của Ðức Chúa Trời cất lên và ngự xuống trên Con Người.”

1 太初，道已经存在，道与上帝同在，道就是上帝。 2 太初，道就与上帝同在。 3 万物都是借着祂造的[a]，受造之物没有一样不是借着祂造的。 4 祂里面有生命，这生命是人类的光。 5 光照进黑暗里，黑暗不能胜过[b]光。
6 有一个人名叫约翰，是上帝差来的。 7 他来是要为光做见证，叫世人可以借着他而相信。 8 约翰不是那光，他来是为那光做见证。 9 那照亮世人的真光来到了世上。 10 祂来到自己所创造的世界，世界却不认识祂。 11 祂来到自己的地方，自己的人却不接纳祂。 12 但所有接纳祂的，就是那些信祂的人，祂就赐给他们权利成为上帝的儿女。 13 这些人既不是从人的血缘关系生的，也不是从人的情欲或意愿生的，而是从上帝生的。

上帝的羔羊

他们说：“老师[e]，你住在哪里？”

The Word Became Flesh
1 In the beginning was the Word,(A) and the Word was with God,(B) and the Word was God.(C) 2 He was with God in the beginning.(D) 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.(E) 4 In him was life,(F) and that life was the light(G) of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness,(H) and the darkness has not overcome[a] it.(I)
6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John.(J) 7 He came as a witness to testify(K) concerning that light, so that through him all might believe.(L) 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.
9 The true light(M) that gives light to everyone(N) was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him,(O) the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.(P) 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed(Q) in his name,(R) he gave the right to become children of God(S)— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.(T)

John the Baptist Denies Being the Messiah
19 Now this was John’s(AG) testimony when the Jewish leaders[c](AH) in Jerusalem sent priests and Levites to ask him who he was. 20 He did not fail to confess, but confessed freely, “I am not the Messiah.”(AI)
21 They asked him, “Then who are you? Are you Elijah?”(AJ)
He said, “I am not.”
“Are you the Prophet?”(AK)
He answered, “No.”
22 Finally they said, “Who are you? Give us an answer to take back to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?”
23 John replied in the words of Isaiah the prophet, “I am the voice of one calling in the wilderness,(AL) ‘Make straight the way for the Lord.’”[d](AM)
24 Now the Pharisees who had been sent 25 questioned him, “Why then do you baptize if you are not the Messiah, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?”
26 “I baptize with[e] water,”(AN) John replied, “but among you stands one you do not know. 27 He is the one who comes after me,(AO) the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie.”(AP)
28 This all happened at Bethany on the other side of the Jordan,(AQ) where John was baptizing.
John Testifies About Jesus
29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God,(AR) who takes away the sin of the world!(AS) 30 This is the one I meant when I said, ‘A man who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’(AT) 31 I myself did not know him, but the reason I came baptizing with water was that he might be revealed to Israel.”
32 Then John gave this testimony: “I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him.(AU) 33 And I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water(AV) told me, ‘The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’(AW) 34 I have seen and I testify that this is God’s Chosen One.”[f](AX)
John’s Disciples Follow Jesus(AY)
35 The next day John(AZ) was there again with two of his disciples. 36 When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, “Look, the Lamb of God!”(BA)
37 When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus. 38 Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, “What do you want?”
They said, “Rabbi”(BB) (which means “Teacher”), “where are you staying?”
39 “Come,” he replied, “and you will see.”
So they went and saw where he was staying, and they spent that day with him. It was about four in the afternoon.
40 Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus. 41 The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, “We have found the Messiah” (that is, the Christ).(BC) 42 And he brought him to Jesus.
Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon son of John. You will be called(BD) Cephas” (which, when translated, is Peter[g]).(BE)
Jesus Calls Philip and Nathanael
43 The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip,(BF) he said to him, “Follow me.”(BG)
44 Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethsaida.(BH) 45 Philip found Nathanael(BI) and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law,(BJ) and about whom the prophets also wrote(BK)—Jesus of Nazareth,(BL) the son of Joseph.”(BM)
46 “Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?”(BN) Nathanael asked.
“Come and see,” said Philip.
47 When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said of him, “Here truly is an Israelite(BO) in whom there is no deceit.”(BP)
48 “How do you know me?” Nathanael asked.
Jesus answered, “I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you.”
49 Then Nathanael declared, “Rabbi,(BQ) you are the Son of God;(BR) you are the king of Israel.”(BS)
50 Jesus said, “You believe[h] because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You will see greater things than that.” 51 He then added, “Very truly I tell you,[i] you[j] will see ‘heaven open,(BT) and the angels of God ascending and descending(BU) on’[k] the Son of Man.”(BV)

1 1-2 Before anything else existed,[a] there was Christ, with God. He has always been alive and is himself God. 3 He created everything there is—nothing exists that he didn’t make. 4 Eternal life is in him, and this life gives light to all mankind. 5 His life is the light that shines through the darkness—and the darkness can never extinguish it.
6-7 God sent John the Baptist as a witness to the fact that Jesus Christ is the true Light. 8 John himself was not the Light; he was only a witness to identify it.
9 Later on, the one who is the true Light arrived to shine on everyone coming into the world.
10 But although he made the world, the world didn’t recognize him when he came. 11-12 Even in his own land and among his own people, the Jews, he was not accepted. Only a few would welcome and receive him. But to all who received him, he gave the right to become children of God. All they needed to do was to trust him to save them.[b] 13 All those who believe this are reborn!—not a physical rebirth[c] resulting from human passion or plan—but from the will of God.
14 And Christ[d] became a human being and lived here on earth among us and was full of loving forgiveness and truth. And some of us have seen his glory—the glory of the only Son of the heavenly Father!
15 John pointed him out to the people, telling the crowds, “This is the one I was talking about when I said, ‘Someone is coming who is greater by far than I am—for he existed long before I did!’” 16 We have all benefited from the rich blessings he brought to us—blessing upon blessing heaped upon us! 17 For Moses gave us only the Law with its rigid demands and merciless justice, while Jesus Christ brought us loving forgiveness as well. 18 No one has ever actually seen God, but, of course, his only Son has, for he is the companion of the Father and has told us all about him.
19 The Jewish leaders[e] sent priests and assistant priests from Jerusalem to ask John whether he claimed to be the Messiah.
20 He denied it flatly. “I am not the Christ,” he said.
21 “Well then, who are you?” they asked. “Are you Elijah?”
“No,” he replied.
“Are you the Prophet?”[f]
“No.”
22 “Then who are you? Tell us, so we can give an answer to those who sent us. What do you have to say for yourself?”
23 He replied, “I am a voice from the barren wilderness, shouting as Isaiah prophesied, ‘Get ready for the coming of the Lord!’”
24-25 Then those who were sent by the Pharisees asked him, “If you aren’t the Messiah or Elijah or the Prophet, what right do you have to baptize?”
26 John told them, “I merely baptize with[g] water, but right here in the crowd is someone you have never met, 27 who will soon begin his ministry among you, and I am not even fit to be his slave.”
28 This incident took place at Bethany, a village on the other side of the Jordan River where John was baptizing.
29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look! There is the Lamb of God who takes away the world’s sin! 30 He is the one I was talking about when I said, ‘Soon a man far greater than I am is coming, who existed long before me!’ 31 I didn’t know he was the one, but I am here baptizing with water in order to point him out to the nation of Israel.”
32 Then John told about seeing the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove descending from heaven and resting upon Jesus.
33 “I didn’t know he was the one,” John said again, “but at the time God sent me to baptize he told me, ‘When you see the Holy Spirit descending and resting upon someone—he is the one you are looking for. He is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’ 34 I saw it happen to this man, and I therefore testify that he is the Son of God.”
35 The following day as John was standing with two of his disciples, 36 Jesus walked by. John looked at him intently and then declared, “See! There is the Lamb of God!”
37 Then John’s two disciples turned and followed Jesus.
38 Jesus looked around and saw them following. “What do you want?” he asked them.
“Sir,” they replied, “where do you live?”
39 “Come and see,” he said. So they went with him to the place where he was staying and were with him from about four o’clock that afternoon until the evening. 40 (One of these men was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.)
41 Andrew then went to find his brother Peter and told him, “We have found the Messiah!” 42 And he brought Peter to meet Jesus.
Jesus looked intently at Peter for a moment and then said, “You are Simon, John’s son—but you shall be called Peter, the rock!”
43 The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and told him, “Come with me.” 44 (Philip was from Bethsaida, Andrew and Peter’s hometown.)
45 Philip now went off to look for Nathanael and told him, “We have found the Messiah!—the very person Moses and the prophets told about! His name is Jesus, the son of Joseph from Nazareth!”
46 “Nazareth!” exclaimed Nathanael. “Can anything good come from there?”
“Just come and see for yourself,” Philip declared.
47 As they approached, Jesus said, “Here comes an honest man—a true son of Israel.”
48 “How do you know what I am like?” Nathanael demanded.
And Jesus replied, “I could see you under the fig tree before Philip found you.”
49 Nathanael replied, “Sir, you are the Son of God—the King of Israel!”
50 Jesus asked him, “Do you believe all this just because I told you I had seen you under the fig tree? You will see greater proofs than this. 51 You will even see heaven open and the angels of God coming back and forth to me, the Messiah.”[h]
