Restaurazione promessa a Israele

30 Parola che fu rivolta a Geremia da parte del Signore: ²Dice il Signore, Dio di Israele: «Scriviti in un libro tutte le cose che ti dirò, ³perché, ecco, verranno giorni - dice il Signore - nei quali cambierò la sorte del mio popolo, di Israele e di Giuda - dice il Signore -; li ricondurrò nel paese che ho concesso ai loro padri e ne prenderanno possesso». ⁴Queste sono le parole che il Signore pronunziò per Israele e per Giuda:

⁵Così dice il Signore:
«Si ode un grido di spavento,
terrore, non pace.
⁶Informatevi e osservate se un maschio può partorire.
Perché mai vedo tutti gli uomini
con le mani sui fianchi come una partoriente?
Perché ogni faccia è stravolta,
impallidita? Ohimè!
⁷Perché grande è quel giorno,
non ce n'è uno simile!
Esso sarà un tempo di angoscia per Giacobbe,
tuttavia egli ne uscirà salvato.

⁸In quel giorno - parola del Signore degli eserciti - romperò il giogo togliendolo dal suo collo, spezzerò le sue catene; non saranno più schiavi di stranieri. ⁹Essi serviranno il Signore loro Dio e Davide loro re, che io susciterò loro.

¹⁰Tu, poi, non temere, Giacobbe, mio servo.
Oracolo del Signore.
Non abbatterti, Israele,
poichè io libererò te dal paese lontano,
la tua discendenza dal paese del suo esilio.
Giacobbe ritornerà e godrà la pace,
vivrà tranquillo e nessuno lo molesterà.
¹¹Poichè io sono con te
per salvarti, oracolo del Signore.
Sterminerò tutte le nazioni,
in mezzo alle quali ti ho disperso;
ma con te non voglio operare una strage;
cioè ti castigherò secondo giustizia,
non ti lascerò del tutto impunito».
¹²Così dice il Signore: «La tua ferita è incurabile.
la tua piaga è molto grave.
¹³Per la tua piaga non ci sono rimedi,
non si forma nessuna cicatrice.
¹⁴Tutti i tuoi amanti ti hanno dimenticato,
non ti cercano più;
poichè ti ho colpito come colpisce un nemico,
con un castigo severo,
per le tue grandi iniquità,
per i molti tuoi peccati.
¹⁵Perchè gridi per la tua ferita?
Incurabile è la tua piaga.
A causa della tua grande iniquità, dei molti tuoi peccati,
io ti ho fatto questi mali.
¹⁶Però quanti ti divorano saranno divorati,
i tuoi oppressori andranno tutti in schiavitù;
i tuoi saccheggiatori saranno abbandonati al saccheggio
e saranno oggetto di preda quanti ti avranno depredato.
¹⁷Farò infatti cicatrizzare la tua ferita
e ti guarirò dalle tue piaghe.
Parola del Signore.
Poichè ti chiamano la ripudiata, o Sion,
quella di cui nessuno si cura»,
¹⁸così dice il Signore:
«Ecco restaurerò la sorte delle tende di Giacobbe
e avrò compassione delle sue dimore.
La città sarà ricostruita sulle rovine
e il palazzo sorgerà di nuovo al suo posto.
¹⁹Ne usciranno inni di lode,
voci di gente festante.
Li moltiplicherò e non diminuiranno,
li onorerò e non saranno disprezzati,
²⁰i loro figli saranno come una volta,
la loro assemblea sarà stabile dinanzi a me;
mentre punirò tutti i loro avversari.
²¹Il loro capo sarà uno di essi
e da essi uscirà il loro comandante;
io lo farò avvicinare ed egli si accosterà a me.
Poichè chi è colui che arrischia la vita
per avvicinarsi a me? Oracolo del Signore.
²²Voi sarete il mio popolo
e io il vostro Dio.
²³Ecco la tempesta del Signore, il suo furore si scatena,
una tempesta travolgente;
si abbatte sul capo dei malvagi.
²⁴Non cesserà l'ira ardente del Signore,
finché non abbia compiuto e attuato
i progetti del suo cuore.
Alla fine dei giorni lo comprenderete!

Restoration of Israel and Judah

30 The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying, ²“Thus speaks the Lord God of Israel, saying: ‘Write in a book for yourself all the words that I have spoken to you. ³For behold, the days are coming,’ says the Lord, ‘that ^(A)I will bring back from captivity My people Israel and Judah,’ says the Lord. ^(B)‘And I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.’ ”

⁴Now these are the words that the Lord spoke concerning Israel and Judah.

⁵“For thus says the Lord:

‘We have heard a voice of trembling,
Of ^[a]fear, and not of peace.
⁶Ask now, and see,
Whether a ^[b]man is ever in ^[c]labor with child?
So why do I see every man with his hands on his loins
^(C)Like a woman in labor,
And all faces turned pale?
⁷^(D)Alas! For that day is great,
^(E)So that none is like it;
And it is the time of Jacob’s trouble,
But he shall be saved out of it.

⁸‘For it shall come to pass in that day,’
Says the Lord of hosts,
‘That I will break his yoke from your neck,
And will burst your bonds;
Foreigners shall no more enslave them.
⁹But they shall serve the Lord their God,
And ^(F)David their king,
Whom I will ^(G)raise up for them.

¹⁰‘Therefore ^(H)do not fear, O My servant Jacob,’ says the Lord,
‘Nor be dismayed, O Israel;
For behold, I will save you from afar,
And your seed ^(I)from the land of their captivity.
Jacob shall return, have rest and be quiet,
And no one shall make him afraid.
¹¹For I am with ^(J)you,’ says the Lord, ‘to save you;
^(K)Though I make a full end of all nations where I have scattered you,
^(L)Yet I will not make a complete end of you.
But I will correct you ^(M)in justice,
And will not let you go altogether unpunished.’

¹²“For thus says the Lord:

^(N)‘Your affliction is incurable,
Your wound is severe.
¹³There is no one to plead your cause,
That you may be bound up;
^(O)You have no healing medicines.
¹⁴^(P)All your lovers have forgotten you;
They do not seek you;
For I have wounded you with the wound ^(Q)of an enemy,
With the chastisement ^(R)of a cruel one,
For the multitude of your iniquities,
^(S)Because your sins have increased.
¹⁵Why ^(T)do you cry about your affliction?
Your sorrow is incurable.
Because of the multitude of your iniquities,
Because your sins have increased,
I have done these things to you.

¹⁶‘Therefore all those who devour you ^(U)shall be devoured;
And all your adversaries, every one of them, shall go into ^(V)captivity;
Those who plunder you shall become ^(W)plunder,
And all who prey upon you I will make a ^(X)prey.
¹⁷^(Y)For I will restore health to you
And heal you of your wounds,’ says the Lord,
‘Because they called you an outcast saying:
“This is Zion;
No one seeks her.” ’

¹⁸“Thus says the Lord:

‘Behold, I will bring back the captivity of Jacob’s tents,
And ^(Z)have mercy on his dwelling places;
The city shall be built upon its own ^[d]mound,
And the palace shall remain according to its own plan.
¹⁹Then ^(AA)out of them shall proceed thanksgiving
And the voice of those who make merry;
^(AB)I will multiply them, and they shall not diminish;
I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small.
²⁰Their children also shall be ^(AC)as before,
And their congregation shall be established before Me;
And I will punish all who oppress them.
²¹Their nobles shall be from among them,
^(AD)And their governor shall come from their midst;
Then I will ^(AE)cause him to draw near,
And he shall approach Me;
For who is this who pledged his heart to approach Me?’ says the Lord.
²²‘You shall be ^(AF)My people,
And I will be your God.’ ”

²³Behold, the ^(AG)whirlwind of the Lord
Goes forth with fury,
A ^[e]continuing whirlwind;
It will fall violently on the head of the wicked.
²⁴The fierce anger of the Lord will not return until He has done it,
And until He has performed the intents of His heart.

^(AH)In the latter days you will consider it.
