Joseph Interprets Pharaoh’s Dreams

41 At the end of two years Pharaoh had a dream: He was standing beside the Nile,^(A)

⁸ When morning came, he was troubled,^(A) so he summoned all the magicians of Egypt and all its wise men.^(B) Pharaoh told them his dreams, but no one could interpret them for him.

6 That night sleep escaped^(A) the king, so he ordered the book recording daily events to be brought and read to the king.

¹⁸ Then the king went to his palace and spent the night fasting.^(A) No diversions^[a] were brought to him, and he could not sleep.^(B)
