³⁰ So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel,^[a] saying, “For ^(A)I have seen God face to face, and yet my life has been delivered.”

¹¹ Thus ^(A)the Lord used to speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. When Moses turned again into the camp, his ^(B)assistant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, would not depart from the tent.

¹⁴ and they will tell the inhabitants of this land. ^(A)They have heard that you, O Lord, are in the midst of this people. For you, O Lord, are seen face to face, and ^(B)your cloud stands over them and you go before them, in a pillar of cloud by day and in a pillar of fire by night.
