Esau’s Wives

³⁴ When Esau was forty years old, he took as his wives Judith daughter of Beeri the Hethite, and Basemath daughter of Elon the Hethite.^{(A) 35} They made life bitter^[a] for Isaac and Rebekah.^(B)

⁴⁶ So Rebekah said to Isaac, “I’m sick of my life because of these Hethite girls.^(A) If Jacob marries someone from around here,^[a] like these Hethite girls, what good is my life?” ^(B)
