God test Abrahams vertrouwen
22 Op een keer wilde God Abrahams vertrouwen in Hem testen. Hij zei tegen hem: "Abraham!" 2 Abraham zei: "Ja, Heer." God zei: "Izaäk is je enige zoon en je houdt heel veel van hem. Ga nu met hem naar het gebied Moria en offer hem daar aan Mij op één van de bergen. Het moet een brand-offer worden. Ik zal je later zeggen op welke berg."
3 Abraham stond 's morgens vroeg op, zadelde zijn ezel en ging met twee knechten en zijn zoon Izaäk op weg. Ook nam hij hout mee voor het brand-offer. Zo ging hij op weg naar de plaats die God had genoemd. 4 Op de derde dag zag hij die plaats in de verte. 5 Toen zei Abraham tegen zijn knechten: "Jullie blijven hier met de ezel. De jongen en ik gaan daar heen. Als we klaar zijn met aanbidden, komen we weer bij jullie terug." 6 Abraham legde het hout voor het brand-offer op Izaäks schouders. Ook nam hij vuur en een mes mee. Zo gingen ze samen verder. 7 Toen zei Izaäk tegen zijn vader Abraham: "Vader?" En hij zei: "Ja, mijn zoon?" Izaäk zei: "Hier zijn het vuur en het hout. Maar waar is het lam voor het offer?" 8 Abraham antwoordde: "God zal Zelf zorgen voor een lam voor het offer, mijn zoon." Zo gingen ze samen verder.
9 Ze kwamen op de plaats die God hem had genoemd en Abraham bouwde daar het altaar. Hij legde het hout er op, bond zijn zoon Izaäk vast en legde hem op het hout op het altaar. 10 Toen nam Abraham het mes om zijn zoon te slachten. 11 Maar de Engel van de Heer riep tegen hem vanuit de hemel: "Abraham! Abraham!" En hij zei: "Ja, Heer." 12 En Hij zei: "Raak de jongen niet aan! Doe hem niets! Nu weet Ik, dat je werkelijk diep ontzag voor Mij hebt. Je hebt zelfs je enige zoon aan Mij willen geven!"
13 Abraham keek op en draaide zich om. Toen zag hij een mannetjes-schaap achter zich. Het zat met zijn horens vast in de struiken. Abraham liep erheen, haalde het schaap en offerde het als brand-offer in de plaats van zijn zoon. 14 En hij noemde die plaats: 'De Heer zal geven wat nodig is.' Daarom wordt ook vandaag nog gezegd: 'Op de berg van de Heer zal de Heer geven wat nodig is.'
15 Toen sprak de Engel van de Heer voor de tweede keer vanuit de hemel tegen Abraham. 16 Hij zei: "De Heer zegt: Ik zweer bij Mijzelf: omdat je dit hebt gedaan en je zelfs je enige zoon aan Mij hebt willen geven, 17 zal Ik je een heel grote zegen geven. Je familie zal zo ontelbaar worden als de sterren aan de hemel, en zo ontelbaar als het zand op het strand. En ze zullen de steden van hun vijanden veroveren en er voor altijd wonen. 18 En door de zegen die op jouw zoon is,[a] zullen alle mensen van de aarde gezegend worden, omdat jij Mij hebt gehoorzaamd."
19 Toen ging Abraham terug naar zijn knechten en samen reisden ze naar Berseba terug. Daar bleef hij wonen.
De familie van Abrahams broer Nahor
20 Hierna kreeg Abraham bericht dat ook Milka, de vrouw van zijn broer Nahor, zonen had gekregen. 21 De oudste zoon heette Uz, zijn broer heette Buz en zijn andere broer heette Kemuël. Kemuël had een zoon: Aram. 22 Verder kreeg Milka Chesed, Hazo, Pildas, Jidlaf en Betuël. Betuël kreeg een dochter: Rebekka. 23 Dit zijn de acht zonen van Milka, de vrouw van Abrahams broer Nahor. 24 Ook Nahors bijvrouw[b] Reüma kreeg zonen: Tebach, Gaham, Tahas en Maächa.

22 这些事以后，上帝要考验亚伯拉罕，就呼唤他：“亚伯拉罕！”他回答说：“我在这里。” 2 上帝说：“带着你的儿子，你的独生子，你疼爱的以撒前往摩利亚，在我指示你的山上把他献为燔祭。” 3 亚伯拉罕清早起来，准备好驴，劈好献燔祭用的柴，带着两个仆人和儿子以撒动身前往上帝指示他的地方。 4 到了第三天，亚伯拉罕远远看见那地方， 5 就对仆人说：“你们和驴在这里等着，我和孩子到那边敬拜上帝，然后便回来。”
6 于是，亚伯拉罕把献燔祭用的柴放在儿子以撒肩上，自己手里拿着火种和刀。父子二人一同向前走。 7 以撒说：“父亲。”亚伯拉罕说：“孩子，什么事？”以撒说：“你看，火种和柴都有了，但献燔祭用的羊羔在哪里呢？” 8 亚伯拉罕说：“孩子，上帝自己会预备献燔祭的羊羔。”二人就继续向前走。
9 他们到了上帝指示的地方，亚伯拉罕就筑起祭坛，把柴摆在上面，然后把以撒捆起来放在柴上。 10 亚伯拉罕伸手拿起刀来，要杀他的儿子。 11 耶和华的天使从天上呼唤他说：“亚伯拉罕！亚伯拉罕！”他回答说：“我在这里。” 12 天使说：“不要动孩子，不可伤害他！现在我知道你敬畏上帝，因为你不惜献上你的儿子——你的独生子。” 13 这时亚伯拉罕抬起头来，突然看见有一只公绵羊两角卡在稠密的树丛中，于是把羊取来代替他的儿子献为燔祭。 14 亚伯拉罕称那地方为“耶和华以勒”[a]。直到今天人们还说：“在耶和华的山上必有预备。”
15 耶和华的天使再次从天上呼唤亚伯拉罕， 16 对他说：“耶和华说，‘你既然愿意把你的儿子，你的独生子献给我，我凭自己向你起誓， 17 我必赐福给你，使你的后裔多如天上的星和海边的沙。你的后裔必占领仇敌的城池， 18 天下万国必因你的后裔而蒙福，因为你听从了我的话。’” 19 于是，亚伯拉罕回到仆人等候的地方，他们一同返回亚伯拉罕居住的别示巴。
拿鹤的后代
20 后来，有人告诉亚伯拉罕：“密迦为你的兄弟拿鹤生了几个儿子， 21 长子乌斯、乌斯的弟弟布斯、亚兰的父亲基姆利、 22 基薛、哈琐、必达、益拉和利百加的父亲彼土利。” 23 密迦为亚伯拉罕的兄弟拿鹤生了八个儿子。 24 拿鹤的妾流玛生了提八、迦含、他辖和玛迦。

22 And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.
2 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.
3 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.
4 Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.
5 And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.
6 And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.
7 And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?
8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.
9 And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.
10 And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.
11 And the angel of the Lord called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.
12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.
13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen.
15 And the angel of the Lord called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,
16 And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:
17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;
18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.
19 So Abraham returned unto his young men, and they rose up and went together to Beersheba; and Abraham dwelt at Beersheba.
20 And it came to pass after these things, that it was told Abraham, saying, Behold, Milcah, she hath also born children unto thy brother Nahor;
21 Huz his firstborn, and Buz his brother, and Kemuel the father of Aram,
22 And Chesed, and Hazo, and Pildash, and Jidlaph, and Bethuel.
23 And Bethuel begat Rebekah: these eight Milcah did bear to Nahor, Abraham's brother.
24 And his concubine, whose name was Reumah, she bare also Tebah, and Gaham, and Thahash, and Maachah.

22 Sau đó, Đức Chúa Trời thử nghiệm Áp-ra-ham. Chúa gọi: “Áp-ra-ham.” Người thưa: “Có con đây.”
2 Chúa bảo: “Hãy dắt Y-sác, đứa con một mà con yêu quý, đem đến vùng Mô-ri-a và dâng nó làm tế lễ thiêu trên một ngọn núi mà Ta sẽ chỉ cho con.”
3 Vậy, Áp-ra-ham dậy sớm, thắng lừa, đem Y-sác con mình và hai đầy tớ đi theo. Ông chặt củi để dâng tế lễ thiêu, rồi đứng dậy, đi đến địa điểm Đức Chúa Trời đã chỉ định. 4 Ngày thứ ba, Áp-ra-ham ngước lên, nhìn thấy địa điểm ấy từ đằng xa, 5 liền bảo hai thanh niên: “Các anh cứ đứng lại đây và giữ lừa. Tôi và Y-sác sẽ lên đó thờ phượng Chúa, rồi sẽ trở lại.”
6 Áp-ra-ham lấy bó củi để dâng tế lễ thiêu chất trên vai Y-sác, con mình và cầm theo mồi lửa và một con dao. Rồi hai cha con cùng đi. 7 Y-sác nói: “Cha ơi!”
Áp-ra-ham đáp: “Có cha đây, con!”
Y-sác hỏi: “Củi lửa có sẵn rồi, nhưng chiên con ở đâu để dâng tế lễ thiêu?”
8 Áp-ra-ham đáp: “Con ơi, Đức Chúa Trời sẽ cung ứng chiên con làm tế lễ thiêu!” Hai cha con tiếp tục đi với nhau.
9 Đến chỗ Đức Chúa Trời đã chỉ định, Áp-ra-ham dựng một bàn thờ, sắp củi lên, rồi trói Y-sác, con mình và đem đặt lên lớp củi trên bàn thờ. 10 Áp-ra-ham đưa tay cầm dao để giết con mình. 11 Bỗng thiên sứ của CHÚA từ trên trời gọi: “Áp-ra-ham! Áp-ra-ham!”
Ông thưa: “Có con đây!”
12 Thiên sứ bảo: “Đừng giết đứa trẻ, cũng đừng làm gì nó cả! Vì bây giờ, ta biết ngươi kính sợ Đức Chúa Trời và không tiếc con ngươi với Ta, dù là con một của ngươi!”
13 Áp-ra-ham ngước mắt nhìn thấy một con chiên đực, sừng đang mắc vào bụi gai rậm phía sau mình. Ông liền bắt nó dâng tế lễ thiêu thay thế con trai mình. 14 Áp-ra-ham gọi địa điểm này là CHÚA Cung Ứng.[a] Vì thế, cho đến ngày nay, người ta vẫn nói; “Trên núi của CHÚA, điều ấy sẽ được cung ứng!”
15 Từ trời, thiên sứ của CHÚA lại gọi Áp-ra-ham lần thứ nhì, 16 mà bảo: “Ta đã lấy chính Ta mà thề, vì con đã làm điều ấy, không tiếc sinh mạng đứa con, dù là con một, 17 nên Ta sẽ ban phước hạnh cho con, gia tăng dòng dõi con như sao trên trời, như cát bãi biển, và dòng dõi con sẽ chiếm lấy cổng thành quân địch. 18 Tất cả các dân tộc trên thế giới sẽ nhờ dòng dõi con mà được phước, vì con đã vâng lời Ta.”
19 Vậy, Áp-ra-ham trở lại cùng hai thanh niên, rồi tất cả lên đường quay về Bê-a Sê-ba. Áp-ra-ham cư trú tại đó.
20 Sau đó, có người báo cáo cho Áp-ra-ham: “Minh-ca đã sinh con trai cho Na-cô, em ông!” 21 Con đầu lòng tên U-xơ, các con kế là Bu-xơ và Kê-mu-ên, cha của A-ram, 22 Kê-sết, Ha-xô, Phin-đát, Díp-láp và Bê-tu-ên, được tất cả tám người. 23 Kê-mu-ên sinh A-ram và Bê-tu-ên sinh Rê-bê-ca. 24 Ru-mân, vợ kế của Na-cô, sinh Tê-ba, Ga-ham, Ta-hách và Ma-a-ca.
