When the days of mourning(A) had passed, Joseph said to Pharaoh’s court,(B) “If I have found favor in your eyes,(C) speak to Pharaoh for me. Tell him, ‘My father made me swear an oath(D) and said, “I am about to die;(E) bury me in the tomb I dug for myself(F) in the land of Canaan.”(G) Now let me go up and bury my father;(H) then I will return.’”

Pharaoh said, “Go up and bury your father, as he made you swear to do.”

Now when the days of his mourning were past, Joseph spoke to (A)the household of Pharaoh, saying, “If now I have found favor in your eyes, please speak in the hearing of Pharaoh, saying, (B)‘My father made me swear, saying, “Behold, I am dying; in my grave (C)which I dug for myself in the land of Canaan, there you shall bury me.” Now therefore, please let me go up and bury my father, and I will come back.’ ”

And Pharaoh said, “Go up and bury your father, as he made you swear.”
