Jakobs hela familj flyttar till Egypten
46 Israel gav sig alltså iväg med alla sina tillhörigheter. När han kom till Beer Sheva offrade han slaktoffer till sin far Isaks Gud. 2 Under natten talade Gud i en syn till Israel. ”Jakob! Jakob!” sa han. ”Ja, här är jag”, svarade Jakob. 3 ”Jag är Gud”, sa Gud, ”din fars Gud. Var inte rädd för att resa ned till Egypten, för jag ska göra dig till ett stort folk där. 4 Jag ska följa dig till Egypten, och jag ska föra dig tillbaka därifrån. Josefs hand kommer att sluta dina ögon.”
5 Då lämnade Jakob Beer Sheva. Israels söner tog med sig sin far Jakob, tillsammans med sina barn och hustrur, och de reste med de vagnar som farao hade skickat för att hämta dem.
6 De tog med sig sina djur och alla de ägodelar som de samlat i Kanaans land, och så kom Jakob och hela hans familj till Egypten. 7 Jakob tog med sig alla sina barn, söner och döttrar, sonsöner och sondöttrar, hela sin släkt.
8 Här följer namnen på Israels söner som kom till Egypten, Jakob och hans söner, av vilka Ruben var den förstfödde:
9 Rubens söner var Henok, Pallu, Hesron och Karmi.
10 Simons söner var Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jakin, Sochar och Saul, vars mor var en kanaaneisk kvinna.
11 Levis söner var Gershon, Kehat och Merari.
12 Judas söner var Er, Onan, Shela, Peres och Serach. Er och Onan hade dock dött i Kanaan. Peres söner hette Hesron och Hamul.
13 Isaskars söner var Tola, Puva, Jashuv och Shimron.
14 Sebulons söner var Sered, Elon och Jachleel.
15 Dessa var alla ättlingar till Jakob och Lea, och tillsammans med dottern Dina, som också föddes åt Jakob i Paddan Aram, var de trettiotre personer.
16 Gads söner var Sifjon, Haggi, Shuni, Esbon, Eri, Arodi och Areli.
17 Ashers söner var Jimna, Jishva och Jishvi, Beria och de hade en syster som hette Serach. Berias söner hette Hever och Malkiel.
18 Dessa sexton personer var barn till Jakob och Silpa, den slavflicka som Lea fått av sin far Laban.
19 Jakobs och hans hustru Rakels söner var Josef och Benjamin.
20 Josefs söner var Manasse och Efraim, födda i Egypten av Asenat, dotter till Poti Fera, präst i On.
21 Benjamins söner var Bela, Beker, Ashbel, Gera, Naaman, Echi, Rosh, Muppim, Huppim[a] och Ard.
22 Dessa var Rakels och Jakobs söner, sammanlagt fjorton personer.
23 Dans son var Hushim.
24 Naftalis söner var Jachseel, Guni, Jeser och Shillem.
25 Dessa var Jakobs söner med Bilha, Rakels slavflicka som Laban gett sin dotter, sammanlagt sju personer.
26 De ättlingar som reste med Jakob till Egypten var sextiosex till antalet, sönernas hustrur oräknade. 27 Om man också räknar med Josefs två söner som föddes åt honom i Egypten, utgjorde Jakobs hela familj i Egypten totalt sjuttio personer.
28 Jakob sände Juda i förväg till Josef för att hitta fram till Goshen. När de kom till Goshen, 29 gjorde Josef sig beredd med sin vagn och mötte dem där. Så snart han fick se sin far kastade han sig i hans famn. De kramade om varandra och grät länge.
30 Sedan sa Israel till Josef: ”Nu är jag beredd att dö, för jag har sett dig igen och vet att du lever.”
31 Josef sa sedan till sina bröder och till hela sin fars familj: ”Jag ska gå och berätta för farao att mina bröder och hela min fars familj har kommit hit till mig från Kanaans land 32 och att ni är herdar och att ni har fört med er era hjordar och allt ni äger. 33 När sedan farao kallar på er och frågar er om ert yrke, 34 så ska ni säga till honom: ’Vi, dina tjänare, har varit herdar ända sedan ungdomen, vi liksom våra förfäder.’ När han hör detta, kommer han att låta er bo här i Goshens land.” Herdar var nämligen avskydda av egypterna.

46 Och Israel bröt upp med allt vad honom tillhörde. Och när han kom till Beer-Seba, offrade han slaktoffer åt sin fader Isaks Gud.
2 Och Gud talade till Israel i en syn om natten; han sade: »Jakob! Jakob!» Han svarade: »Här är jag.»
3 Då sade han: »Jag är Gud, din faders Gud; frukta icke för att draga ned till Egypten, ty där skall jag göra dig till ett stort folk.
4 Jag skall själv draga ned med dig till Egypten, jag skall ock föra dig åter upp därifrån; och Josefs hand skall tillsluta dina ögon.»
5 Och Jakob bröt upp från Beer-Seba; och Israels söner satte sin fader Jakob och sina späda barn och sina hustrur på vagnarna som Farao hade sänt för att hämta honom.
6 Och de togo sin boskap och de ägodelar som de hade förvärvat i Kanaans land och kommo så till Egypten, Jakob och alla hans avkomlingar med honom.
7 Sina söner och sonsöner, sina döttrar och sondöttrar, alla sina avkomlingar, förde han med sig till Egypten.
8 Dessa äro namnen på Israels barn som kommo till Egypten: Jakob och hans söner. Jakobs förstfödde var Ruben,
9 och Rubens söner voro Hanok, Pallu, Hesron och Karmi.
10 Simeons söner voro Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jakin, Sohar och Saul, den kananeiska kvinnans son.
11 Levis söner voro Gerson, Kehat och Merari.
12 Judas söner voro Er, Onan, Sela, Peres och Sera -- men Er och Onan dogo i Kanaans land -- och Peres' söner voro Hesron och Hamul.
13 Isaskars söner voro Tola, Puva, Job och Simron.
14 Sebulons söner voro Sered, Elon och Jaleel.
15 Dessa voro Leas söner, de som hon födde åt Jakob i Paddan-Aram; tillika födde hon åt honom dottern Dina. Söner och döttrar utgjorde tillsammans trettiotre personer.

18 Dessa voro söner till Silpa, som Laban hade givit åt sin dotter Lea, och dessa födde hon åt Jakob, sexton personer.
19 Rakels, Jakobs hustrus, söner voro Josef och Benjamin.
20 Och de söner som föddes åt Josef i Egyptens land voro Manasse och Efraim; de föddes åt honom av Asenat, dotter till Poti-Fera, prästen i On.
21 Och Benjamins söner voro Bela, Beker och Asbel, Gera och Naaman, Ehi och Ros, Muppim och Huppim och Ard.
22 Dessa voro Rakels söner, de som föddes åt Jakob, tillsammans fjorton personer.
23 Dans söner voro Husim.
24 Naftalis söner voro Jaseel, Guni, Jeser och Sillem.
25 Dessa voro söner till Bilha, som Laban hade givit åt sin dotter Rakel, och dessa födde hon åt Jakob, tillsammans sju personer.
26 De som kommo med Jakob till Egypten, de som hade utgått från hans länd, utgjorde alla tillsammans sextiosex personer, förutom Jakobs sonhustrur.
27 Och Josefs söner, vilka föddes åt honom i Egypten, voro två. De personer av Jakobs hus, som kommo till Egypten, utgjorde tillsammans sjuttio.
28 Och han sände Juda framför sig till Josef, för att denne skulle visa honom vägen till Gosen. Så kommo de till landet Gosen.
29 Och Josef lät spänna för sin vagn och for upp till Gosen för att möta sin fader Israel. Och när han kom fram till honom, föll han honom om halsen och grät länge vid hans hals.
30 Och Israel sade till Josef: »Nu vill jag gärna dö, sedan jag har sett ditt ansikte och sett att du ännu lever.»
31 Därefter sade Josef till sina bröder och sin faders folk: »Jag vill fara upp och berätta för Farao och säga till honom: 'Mina bröder och min faders folk, som hittills hava bott i Kanaans land, hava kommit till mig.
32 Och dessa män äro fårherdar, ty de hava idkat boskapsskötsel; och sina får och fäkreatur och allt vad de äga hava de fört med sig.'
33 När sedan Farao kallar eder till sig och frågar: 'Vad är edert yrke?',
34 skolen I svara: 'Vi, dina tjänare, hava idkat boskapsskötsel från vår ungdom ända till nu, vi såväl som våra fäder.' Så skolen I få bo i landet Gosen; ty alla fårherdar äro en styggelse för egyptierna.»

Jacob Goes to Egypt
46 So Israel(A) set out with all that was his, and when he reached Beersheba,(B) he offered sacrifices(C) to the God of his father Isaac.(D)
2 And God spoke to Israel(E) in a vision at night(F) and said, “Jacob! Jacob!”
“Here I am,”(G) he replied.
3 “I am God, the God of your father,”(H) he said. “Do not be afraid(I) to go down to Egypt,(J) for I will make you into a great nation(K) there.(L) 4 I will go down to Egypt with you, and I will surely bring you back again.(M) And Joseph’s own hand will close your eyes.(N)”
5 Then Jacob left Beersheba,(O) and Israel’s(P) sons took their father Jacob and their children and their wives in the carts(Q) that Pharaoh had sent to transport him. 6 So Jacob and all his offspring went to Egypt,(R) taking with them their livestock and the possessions(S) they had acquired(T) in Canaan. 7 Jacob brought with him to Egypt(U) his sons and grandsons and his daughters and granddaughters—all his offspring.(V)
8 These are the names of the sons of Israel(W) (Jacob and his descendants) who went to Egypt:
Reuben the firstborn(X) of Jacob.
9 The sons of Reuben:(Y)
Hanok, Pallu,(Z) Hezron and Karmi.(AA)
10 The sons of Simeon:(AB)
Jemuel,(AC) Jamin, Ohad, Jakin, Zohar(AD) and Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman.
11 The sons of Levi:(AE)
Gershon,(AF) Kohath(AG) and Merari.(AH)
12 The sons of Judah:(AI)
Er,(AJ) Onan,(AK) Shelah, Perez(AL) and Zerah(AM) (but Er and Onan had died in the land of Canaan).(AN)

Hezron and Hamul.(AP)
13 The sons of Issachar:(AQ)
Tola, Puah,[a](AR) Jashub[b](AS) and Shimron.
14 The sons of Zebulun:(AT)

15 These were the sons Leah bore to Jacob in Paddan Aram,[c](AU) besides his daughter Dinah.(AV) These sons and daughters of his were thirty-three in all.
16 The sons of Gad:(AW)
Zephon,[d](AX) Haggi, Shuni, Ezbon, Eri, Arodi and Areli.
17 The sons of Asher:(AY)
Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi and Beriah.
Their sister was Serah.
The sons of Beriah:
Heber and Malkiel.
18 These were the children born to Jacob by Zilpah,(AZ) whom Laban had given to his daughter Leah(BA)—sixteen in all.
19 The sons of Jacob’s wife Rachel:(BB)
Joseph and Benjamin.(BC) 20 In Egypt, Manasseh(BD) and Ephraim(BE) were born to Joseph(BF) by Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On.[e](BG)
21 The sons of Benjamin:(BH)
Bela, Beker, Ashbel, Gera, Naaman, Ehi, Rosh, Muppim, Huppim and Ard.(BI)
22 These were the sons of Rachel(BJ) who were born to Jacob—fourteen in all.
25 These were the sons born to Jacob by Bilhah,(BN) whom Laban had given to his daughter Rachel(BO)—seven in all.
26 All those who went to Egypt with Jacob—those who were his direct descendants, not counting his sons’ wives—numbered sixty-six persons.(BP) 27 With the two sons[f] who had been born to Joseph in Egypt,(BQ) the members of Jacob’s family, which went to Egypt, were seventy[g] in all.(BR)
28 Now Jacob sent Judah(BS) ahead of him to Joseph to get directions to Goshen.(BT) When they arrived in the region of Goshen, 29 Joseph had his chariot(BU) made ready and went to Goshen to meet his father Israel.(BV) As soon as Joseph appeared before him, he threw his arms around his father[h] and wept(BW) for a long time.(BX)
30 Israel(BY) said to Joseph, “Now I am ready to die, since I have seen for myself that you are still alive.”(BZ)
31 Then Joseph said to his brothers and to his father’s household, “I will go up and speak to Pharaoh and will say to him, ‘My brothers and my father’s household, who were living in the land of Canaan,(CA) have come to me.(CB) 32 The men are shepherds;(CC) they tend livestock,(CD) and they have brought along their flocks and herds and everything they own.’(CE) 33 When Pharaoh calls you in and asks, ‘What is your occupation?’(CF) 34 you should answer, ‘Your servants(CG) have tended livestock from our boyhood on, just as our fathers did.’(CH) Then you will be allowed to settle(CI) in the region of Goshen,(CJ) for all shepherds are detestable to the Egyptians.(CK)”

46 And Israel took his journey with all that he had, and came to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices unto the God of his father Isaac.
2 And God spake unto Israel in the visions of the night, and said, Jacob, Jacob. And he said, Here am I.
3 And he said, I am God, the God of thy father: fear not to go down into Egypt; for I will there make of thee a great nation:
4 I will go down with thee into Egypt; and I will also surely bring thee up again: and Joseph shall put his hand upon thine eyes.
5 And Jacob rose up from Beersheba: and the sons of Israel carried Jacob their father, and their little ones, and their wives, in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him.
6 And they took their cattle, and their goods, which they had gotten in the land of Canaan, and came into Egypt, Jacob, and all his seed with him:

27 And the sons of Joseph, which were born him in Egypt, were two souls: all the souls of the house of Jacob, which came into Egypt, were threescore and ten.
28 And he sent Judah before him unto Joseph, to direct his face unto Goshen; and they came into the land of Goshen.
29 And Joseph made ready his chariot, and went up to meet Israel his father, to Goshen, and presented himself unto him; and he fell on his neck, and wept on his neck a good while.
30 And Israel said unto Joseph, Now let me die, since I have seen thy face, because thou art yet alive.
31 And Joseph said unto his brethren, and unto his father's house, I will go up, and shew Pharaoh, and say unto him, My brethren, and my father's house, which were in the land of Canaan, are come unto me;
32 And the men are shepherds, for their trade hath been to feed cattle; and they have brought their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have.
33 And it shall come to pass, when Pharaoh shall call you, and shall say, What is your occupation?
34 That ye shall say, Thy servants' trade hath been about cattle from our youth even until now, both we, and also our fathers: that ye may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination unto the Egyptians.
