Genesis 22:11

New English Translation

¹¹But the angel of the Lord^[a] called to him from heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!” “Here I am!” he answered.

Genesis 22:11 sn Heb “the messenger of the Lord” (also in v. 15). Some identify the angel of the Lord as the preincarnate Christ because in some texts the angel is identified with the Lord himself. However, see the note on the phrase “the angel of the Lord” in Gen 16:7.

¹¹But the angel of the Lord^(A) called out to him from heaven,^(B) “Abraham! Abraham!”^(C)

“Here I am,”^(D) he replied.

¹¹But the ^(A)Angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!”

So he said, “Here I am.”
