²⁰ and Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah, ^(A)the daughter of Bethuel the Aramean of ^(B)Paddan-aram, ^(C)the sister of Laban the Aramean, to be his wife.

²⁹ Rebekah had a brother whose name was ^(A)Laban. Laban ran out toward the man, to the spring.

⁶⁷ Then Isaac brought her into the tent of Sarah his mother and took Rebekah, and she became his wife, and he loved her. So Isaac was ^(A)comforted after his mother's ^(B)death.

²³ (^(A)Bethuel fathered Rebekah.) These eight Milcah bore to Nahor, Abraham's brother.

⁵ “And you shall make response before the Lord your God, ‘A ^(A)wandering Aramean was my father. And he went down into Egypt and sojourned there, ^(B)few in number, and there he became a nation, great, mighty, and populous.

²⁴ But God came to Laban the Aramean ^(A)in a dream by night and said to him, “Be careful not to say anything to Jacob, ^(B)either good or bad.”

²⁰ And Jacob tricked^[a] Laban the Aramean, by not telling him that he intended to flee.

¹⁸ He drove away all his livestock, all his property that he had gained, the livestock in his possession that he had acquired in ^(A)Paddan-aram, to go to the land of Canaan to his father Isaac.

⁵ Thus Isaac sent Jacob away. And he went to Paddan-aram, to Laban, the son of Bethuel the Aramean, the brother of Rebekah, Jacob's and Esau's mother.

Esau Marries an Ishmaelite

⁶ Now Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob and sent him away to Paddan-aram to take a wife from there, and that as he blessed him he directed him, “You must not take a wife from the Canaanite women,”

²⁷ And ^(A)there were many lepers^[a] in Israel in the time of the prophet Elisha, and none of them was cleansed, ^(B)but only Naaman the Syrian.”
