Non, nou te resevwa Sentespri a lè nou te tande mesaj la epi nou te kwè l. Nou kòmanse viv nouvo lavi a dapre Sentespri a. Kòman nou fè panse nou ka vin pafè nèt avèk yon bagay san fòs kon sa tankou sikonsizyon[a]? Èske nou te fè tout eksperyans sa yo pou granmesi? Mwen panse se pa t pou granmesi. Bondye ki te ba nou Sentespri a epi ki te fè tout mirak sa yo nan mitan nou, èske li te fè sa paske nou te fè sa lalwa mande, oubyen paske nou te kwè nan mesaj nou te tande a?

Konsènan Abraram, men sa Bib la di: Abraram te mete konfyans li nan Bondye, poutèt sa, Bondye te aksepte li tankou yon moun ki mache dwat devan li.(A) Alò, nou bezwen konnen, moun ki mete konfyans yo nan Bondye, se yo menm ki vrè pitit Abraram. Depi lontan, Bib la te gentan di Bondye t apral deklare moun ki pa Juif yo dwat devan l poutèt lafwa yo. Se poutèt sa, Bondye te gentan anonse Abraram bòn nouvèl sa a. Li di l: “Tout nasyon ki sou latè ap jwenn benediksyon pa mwen ou menm.”(B) Konsa, moun ki gen lafwa, yo jwenn benediksyon nan men Bondye, ansanm ak Abraram ki te gen lafwa tou.

10 Men, tout moun ki patisipe nan fè sa lalwa mande, yo anba malediksyon. Paske Bib la di: “Malediksyon Bondye ap tonbe sou tout moun ki pa toujou pratike tout sa ki ekri nan liv lalwa a.”(C) 11 Bon! Nou tout konnen Bondye p ap deklare pèsonn dwat devan l paske moun nan obeyi lalwa. Men sa Bib la di: “Moun ki dwat devan Bondye, l ap viv dapre lafwa li.”[b]

12 Lavi ki baze sou lalwa a pa menm ditou ak sa k baze sou lafwa a. Depi yon moun fin fè yon testaman, epi testaman sa a ratifye, pèsonn pa ka ni anile l, ni ajoute bagay ladan l. 16 Se menm jan an tou, Bondye te fè pwomès li yo pou Abraram ak pou desandan li a. Gade byen, li pa di “pou desandan l yo”. Si se te sa, li ta vle di plis pase yon sèl moun. Kòm l ap pale de yon sèl moun, li di: “ak pou desandan li a”, sa vle di Kris. 17 Men sa m vle di: Bondye te fè yon testaman, epi li te ratifye l. Katsantrantan apre sa, Bondye vin bay lalwa Moyiz la. Konsa, lalwa ki vin apre a, pa kapab anile testaman an pou pwomès la ta vin pa kenbe ankò.

18 Vrèman, si eritaj Bondye di l ap ban nou an se nan obsève lalwa n ap jwenn li, li pa yon pwomès ankò. Okontrè, Bondye te fè Abraram favè l dapre yon pwomès.

19 Alò, pou kisa Bondye te bay lalwa a? Bondye te ajoute l sou pwomès la pou nou te ka konnen lè nou peche. Lalwa te nesesè pou jouktan desandan Abraram nan te vini. Bondye te sèvi ak anj pou l bay Moyiz lalwa a, epi Moyiz te sèvi kòm medyatè pou bay pèp Bondye a lalwa a. 20 Men lè Bondye te bay pwomès la, pa gen medyatè, paske pa bezwen medyatè lè se yon sèl desandan ki genyen, Bondye se yon sèl, epi gen yon sèl desandan an.[e]

Bi Lalwa Moyiz la

21 Alò, èske sa vle di lalwa pa dakò ak pwomès Bondye te fè yo? Pa ditou! Paske, si lalwa Bondye te bay la te kapab bay moun lavi, se lalwa sa a ki t ap fè moun dwat devan Bondye. 22 Okontrè, Bib la mete tout sa ki egziste nan lemonn nan yon prizon anba kontwòl peche. Konsa, sèl fason pou moun resevwa pwomès la, se nan mete konfyans yo nan Jezikris,[f] li menm ki fidèl.

23 Anvan lafwa te vini, nou te plase anba siveyans lalwa, se kòmsi nou te prizonye jouktan Bondye te fè nou wè lafwa ki te gen pou vini an. 24 Konsa, lalwa te tankou yon gadò pou nou jouktan Kris vini pou Bondye te ka deklare nou dwat devan l dapre lafwa nou. 25 Kounye a, lafwa vini, nou pa anba siveyans lalwa a ankò.

26 Sa k fè m di sa a, se paske nou tout nou se pitit Bondye pa mwayen lafwa nou mete nan Jezikris. 27 Nou tout ki te batize nan Kris nou te abiye ak Kris. 28 Pa gen diferans ankò ant moun ki Juif ak moun ki pa Juif. Mwen di sa, paske nou tout nou se yon sèl fanmi an nan Jezikris. 29 Poutèt nou se moun pa Kris, nou se desandans Abraram. Nou se eritye dapre pwomès la.

Faith or Works of the Law

You foolish(A) Galatians!(B) Who has bewitched you?(C) Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified.(D) I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit(E) by the works of the law,(F) or by believing what you heard?(G) Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?[a] Have you experienced[b] so much in vain—if it really was in vain? So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles(H) among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard?(I) So also Abraham “believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”[c](J)

Understand, then, that those who have faith(K) are children of Abraham.(L) Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.”[d](M) So those who rely on faith(N) are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.(O)

10 For all who rely on the works of the law(P) are under a curse,(Q) as it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.”[e](R) 11 Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God,(S) because “the righteous will live by faith.”[f](T) 12 The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, it says, “The person who does these things will live by them.”[g](U) 13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law(V) by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.”[h](W) 14 He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus,(X) so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.(Y)

The Law and the Promise

15 Brothers and sisters,(Z) let me take an example from everyday life. Just as no one can set aside or add to a human covenant that has been duly established, so it is in this case. 16 The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed.(AA) Scripture does not say “and to seeds,” meaning many people, but “and to your seed,”[i](AB) meaning one person, who is Christ. 17 What I mean is this: The law, introduced 430 years(AC) later, does not set aside the covenant previously established by God and thus do away with the promise. 18 For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on the promise;(AD) but God in his grace gave it to Abraham through a promise.

19 Why, then, was the law given at all? It was added because of transgressions(AE) until the Seed(AF) to whom the promise referred had come. The law was given through angels(AG) and entrusted to a mediator.(AH) 20 A mediator,(AI) however, implies more than one party; but God is one.

21 Is the law, therefore, opposed to the promises of God? Absolutely not!(AJ) For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law.(AK) 22 But Scripture has locked up everything under the control of sin,(AL) so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe.

Children of God

23 Before the coming of this faith,[j] we were held in custody(AM) under the law, locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed.(AN) 24 So the law was our guardian until Christ came(AO) that we might be justified by faith.(AP) 25 Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.(AQ)

26 So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God(AR) through faith, 27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ(AS) have clothed yourselves with Christ.(AT) 28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free,(AU) nor is there male and female,(AV) for you are all one in Christ Jesus.(AW) 29 If you belong to Christ,(AX) then you are Abraham’s seed,(AY) and heirs(AZ) according to the promise.(BA)
