Pacto de Dios con Noé
9 Dios bendijo a Noé y a sus hijos, y les dijo:
«Reprodúzcanse y multiplíquense: ¡llenen la tierra!(A) 2 El temor y el miedo a ustedes estarán en todo animal de la tierra, en toda ave de los cielos, en todo lo que se mueva sobre la tierra, y en todos los peces del mar. Quedan en las manos de ustedes. 3 Todo lo que se mueve y tiene vida les servirá de alimento, lo mismo las legumbres que las plantas verdes. Yo les he dado todo. 4 Pero la carne con su vida, que es su sangre, no la comerán.(B) 5 Porque ciertamente yo demandaré de la vida de ustedes esa sangre; la demandaré de las manos de todo animal, y de las manos del hombre; demandaré la vida del hombre de manos del hombre, su hermano. 6 La sangre del que derrame sangre humana(C) será derramada por otro hombre, porque el hombre ha sido hecho a imagen de Dios.(D) 7 Pero ustedes, reprodúzcanse y multiplíquense;(E) procreen abundantemente y multiplíquense en la tierra.»
8 Dios habló también a Noé y a sus hijos con él. Les dijo:
9 «Miren, yo establezco mi pacto con ustedes y con sus descendientes que les nazcan después. 10 Y también con todos los seres vivos que están con ustedes: las aves, los animales y todas las bestias de la tierra que están con ustedes, tanto los que salieron del arca como todos los animales de la tierra. 11 Estableceré mi pacto con ustedes, y no volveré a exterminar a ningún ser con aguas de diluvio, ni habrá otro diluvio que destruya la tierra.»
12 Dios también dijo:
«Ésta es la señal del pacto que yo establezco con ustedes, y con todo ser vivo que está con ustedes, por los siglos y para siempre: 13 He puesto mi arco en las nubes, el cual servirá como señal de mi pacto con la tierra. 14 Cuando yo haga venir nubes sobre la tierra, entonces mi arco se dejará ver en las nubes 15 y me acordaré de mi pacto, el pacto que he hecho con ustedes y con todo ser vivo, de cualquier especie; no volverá a haber un diluvio de aguas que destruya a todo ser vivo. 16 El arco estará en las nubes, y yo lo veré y me acordaré de mi pacto perpetuo. Es el pacto entre Dios y todo ser vivo, con todos los seres que hay sobre la tierra.»
17 Dios también le dijo a Noé:
«Ésta es la señal del pacto que he establecido con todos los seres vivos que habitan sobre la tierra.»
Embriaguez de Noé
18 Los hijos de Noé que salieron del arca fueron Sem, Cam (que es el padre de Canaán), y Jafet. 19 Estos tres son los hijos de Noé. Con ellos se pobló toda la tierra. 20 Después Noé comenzó a labrar la tierra y plantó una viña, 21 y bebió del vino, y se embriagó, y se quedó desnudo en medio de su tienda. 22 Cuando Cam, padre de Canaán, vio la desnudez de su padre, se lo dijo a sus dos hermanos, que estaban afuera. 23 Entonces Sem y Jafet tomaron ropa, la pusieron sobre sus propios hombros y, caminando hacia atrás, cubrieron la desnudez de su padre, mientras volvían el rostro para no ver la desnudez de su padre. 24 Al despertar Noé de su embriaguez, se enteró de lo que le había hecho su hijo más joven, 25 y dijo:
«Maldito sea Canaán.
Será siervo de siervos para sus hermanos.»
26 También dijo:
«Que el Señor mi Dios bendiga a Sem,
y que Canaán sea su siervo.
27 »Que engrandezca Dios a Jafet;
que habite en las tiendas de Sem,
y que Canaán sea su siervo.»
28 Después del diluvio Noé vivió trescientos cincuenta años, 29 y todos los días de Noé fueron novecientos cincuenta años. Entonces murió.

Pacto de Dios con Noé
9 Bendijo Dios a Noé y a sus hijos, y les dijo: Fructificad y multiplicaos, y llenad la tierra.(A) 2 El temor y el miedo de vosotros estarán sobre todo animal de la tierra, y sobre toda ave de los cielos, en todo lo que se mueva sobre la tierra, y en todos los peces del mar; en vuestra mano son entregados. 3 Todo lo que se mueve y vive, os será para mantenimiento: así como las legumbres y plantas verdes, os lo he dado todo. 4 Pero carne con su vida, que es su sangre, no comeréis.(B) 5 Porque ciertamente demandaré la sangre de vuestras vidas; de mano de todo animal la demandaré, y de mano del hombre; de mano del varón su hermano demandaré la vida del hombre. 6 El que derramare sangre de hombre,(C) por el hombre su sangre será derramada; porque a imagen de Dios es hecho el hombre.(D) 7 Mas vosotros fructificad y multiplicaos;(E) procread abundantemente en la tierra, y multiplicaos en ella.
8 Y habló Dios a Noé y a sus hijos con él, diciendo: 9 He aquí que yo establezco mi pacto con vosotros, y con vuestros descendientes después de vosotros; 10 y con todo ser viviente que está con vosotros; aves, animales y toda bestia de la tierra que está con vosotros, desde todos los que salieron del arca hasta todo animal de la tierra. 11 Estableceré mi pacto con vosotros, y no exterminaré ya más toda carne con aguas de diluvio, ni habrá más diluvio para destruir la tierra. 12 Y dijo Dios: Esta es la señal del pacto que yo establezco entre mí y vosotros y todo ser viviente que está con vosotros, por siglos perpetuos: 13 Mi arco he puesto en las nubes, el cual será por señal del pacto entre mí y la tierra. 14 Y sucederá que cuando haga venir nubes sobre la tierra, se dejará ver entonces mi arco en las nubes. 15 Y me acordaré del pacto mío, que hay entre mí y vosotros y todo ser viviente de toda carne; y no habrá más diluvio de aguas para destruir toda carne. 16 Estará el arco en las nubes, y lo veré, y me acordaré del pacto perpetuo entre Dios y todo ser viviente, con toda carne que hay sobre la tierra. 17 Dijo, pues, Dios a Noé: Esta es la señal del pacto que he establecido entre mí y toda carne que está sobre la tierra.
Embriaguez de Noé
18 Y los hijos de Noé que salieron del arca fueron Sem, Cam y Jafet; y Cam es el padre de Canaán. 19 Estos tres son los hijos de Noé, y de ellos fue llena toda la tierra. 20 Después comenzó Noé a labrar la tierra, y plantó una viña; 21 y bebió del vino, y se embriagó, y estaba descubierto en medio de su tienda. 22 Y Cam, padre de Canaán, vio la desnudez de su padre, y lo dijo a sus dos hermanos que estaban afuera. 23 Entonces Sem y Jafet tomaron la ropa, y la pusieron sobre sus propios hombros, y andando hacia atrás, cubrieron la desnudez de su padre, teniendo vueltos sus rostros, y así no vieron la desnudez de su padre. 24 Y despertó Noé de su embriaguez, y supo lo que le había hecho su hijo más joven, 25 y dijo:
Maldito sea Canaán;
Siervo de siervos será a sus hermanos.
26 Dijo más:
Bendito por Jehová mi Dios sea Sem,
Y sea Canaán su siervo.
27 Engrandezca Dios a Jafet,
Y habite en las tiendas de Sem,
Y sea Canaán su siervo.
28 Y vivió Noé después del diluvio trescientos cincuenta años. 29 Y fueron todos los días de Noé novecientos cincuenta años; y murió.

9 Además, Dios bendijo a Noé y a sus hijos, y les dijo:
«Quiero que tengan muchos hijos, y que sus descendientes llenen la tierra. 2 Pongo bajo el dominio de ustedes a todos los animales de la tierra, a todas las aves del cielo, a todos los reptiles y a todos los peces del mar. Ante ustedes, todos ellos temblarán de miedo. 3 Yo les entrego todo lo que tiene vida, y todas las plantas verdes, para que les sirvan de alimento. 4 Pero no coman nunca carne que todavía tenga sangre, pues en la sangre está la vida.
5-6 »Yo hice al hombre y a la mujer semejantes a mí mismo. Por eso, si algún animal los mata a ustedes, ese animal también tendrá que morir; y si alguno de ustedes mata a otra persona, también tendrá que morir.
7 »Lo que yo quiero es que ustedes tengan muchos hijos, y que sus descendientes llenen la tierra».
8 También les dijo Dios:
9 «Ahora mismo les hago una promesa a ustedes y a sus descendientes. 10 Esta promesa incluye a todas las aves y a todos los animales domésticos y salvajes que estaban con ustedes en la casa flotante. 11 Y ésta es mi promesa: Nunca más volveré a destruir la tierra con una inundación tan terrible».
12-13 También dijo Dios:
«Acabo de hacerles una promesa a ustedes y a todos los seres vivos de esta tierra, que incluye también a los que todavía no han nacido. Como prueba de esta promesa, pongo mi arco iris. 14 Cuando yo traiga nubes sobre la tierra, el arco iris aparecerá, 15-17 y me acordaré de mi promesa. Jamás volverá a haber una inundación tan grande como para acabar con toda la vida. El arco iris es la señal de esta promesa».
Los hijos de Noé
18 Los tres hijos de Noé que salieron con él de la casa flotante fueron Sem, Cam y Jafet. Cam tuvo un hijo llamado Canaán. 19 Con los descendientes de los hijos de Noé volvió a poblarse toda la tierra.
20 Noé era un hombre de campo, y fue el primero en cultivar uvas. 21 Un día bebió vino, se emborrachó y se quedó desnudo dentro de su tienda de campaña. 22 Cuando Cam vio desnudo a su padre, salió corriendo a contárselo a sus dos hermanos. Recordemos que Cam es el antepasado de los cananitas. 23 Entonces Sem y Jafet tomaron una manta para cubrir a su padre. Para no verlo desnudo, caminaron de espaldas llevando la manta, y la dejaron caer sobre su padre.
24 Cuando Noé despertó de su borrachera y supo lo que su hijo Cam le había hecho, 25 dijo:
«¡Malditos sean los cananitas,
tus descendientes!
¡Serán los esclavos
de los descendientes de Sem y Jafet!»
26 Y dijo también:
«¡Bendito sea el Dios de Sem!
¡Los cananitas serán sus esclavos!
27 »¡Que Dios haga más grande
el territorio de Jafet!
¡Que viva Jafet en las tiendas de Sem!
¡Los cananitas serán sus esclavos!»
28 Después de la inundación, Noé vivió trescientos cincuenta años más. 29 Así que murió cuando tenía novecientos cincuenta años.

God’s Covenant with Noah and Humankind
9 And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth. 2 And fear of you and dread of you shall be upon every animal of the earth, and on every bird of heaven,[a] and on everything that moves upon the ground, and on all the fish of the sea. Into your hand they shall be given. 3 Every moving thing that lives shall be for you as food. As I gave the green plants to you, I have now given you everything. 4 Only you shall not eat raw flesh with blood in it.[b] 5 And[c] your lifeblood[d] I will require; from every animal[e] I will require it. And from the hand of humankind, from the hand of each man to his brother I will require the life of humankind.
6 “As for the one shedding the blood of humankind,
by humankind his blood shall be shed,
for God made humankind in his own image.
7 “And you, be fruitful and multiply, swarm on the earth and multiply in it.” 8 And God said to Noah and to his sons with him, 9 “As for me, behold, I am establishing my covenant with you and with your seed after you, 10 and with every living creature that is with you—the birds, the animals, and every animal of the earth with you, from all that came out of the ark to all the animals of the earth. 11 I am establishing my covenant with you, that never again will all flesh be cut off by the waters of a flood, nor will there ever be a flood that destroys the earth.” 12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant that I am making between me and you, and between every living creature that is with you for future generations. 13 My bow I have set in the clouds, and it shall be for a sign of the covenant between me and between the earth. 14 And when I make clouds appear over the earth the bow shall be seen in the clouds. 15 Then[f] I will remember my covenant that is between me and you, and between every living creature, with all flesh. And the waters of a flood will never again cause the destruction[g] of all flesh. 16 The bow shall be in the clouds, and I will see it, so as to remember the everlasting covenant between God and between every living creature, with all flesh that is upon the earth.” 17 And God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant which I am establishing between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.
Noah’s Descendants
18 Now[h] the sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. (Ham was the father of Canaan.) 19 These three were the sons of Noah, and from these the whole earth was populated.[i] 20 And Noah began to be a man of the ground, and he planted a vineyard. 21 And he drank some of the wine and became drunk, and he exposed himself in the midst of his tent. 22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and he told his two brothers outside. 23 Then[j] Shem and Japheth took a garment, and the two of them put it on their shoulders and, walking backward, they covered the nakedness of their father. And their faces were turned backward, so that[k] they did not see the nakedness of their father. 24 Then[l] Noah awoke from his drunkenness,[m] and he knew what his youngest son had done to him. 25 And he said,
“Cursed be Canaan,
a slave of slaves he shall be to his brothers.”
26 Then[n] he said,
“Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Shem,
and let Canaan be a slave to them.
27 May God make space for Japheth,
and let him dwell in the tents of Shem,
and let Canaan be a slave for him.”
28 And Noah lived three hundred and fifty years after the flood. 29 And all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years, and he died.

God’s Covenant With Noah
9 Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth.(A) 2 The fear and dread of you will fall on all the beasts of the earth, and on all the birds in the sky, on every creature that moves along the ground, and on all the fish in the sea; they are given into your hands.(B) 3 Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you.(C) Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.(D)
4 “But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it.(E) 5 And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting.(F) I will demand an accounting from every animal.(G) And from each human being, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of another human being.(H)
6 “Whoever sheds human blood,
by humans shall their blood be shed;(I)
for in the image of God(J)
has God made mankind.
7 As for you, be fruitful and increase in number; multiply on the earth and increase upon it.”(K)
8 Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him: 9 “I now establish my covenant with you(L) and with your descendants after you 10 and with every living creature that was with you—the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you—every living creature on earth. 11 I establish my covenant(M) with you:(N) Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.(O)”
12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant(P) I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come:(Q) 13 I have set my rainbow(R) in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow(S) appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant(T) between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.(U) 16 Whenever the rainbow(V) appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant(W) between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”
17 So God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant(X) I have established between me and all life on the earth.”
The Sons of Noah
18 The sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham and Japheth.(Y) (Ham was the father of Canaan.)(Z) 19 These were the three sons of Noah,(AA) and from them came the people who were scattered over the whole earth.(AB)
20 Noah, a man of the soil, proceeded[a] to plant a vineyard. 21 When he drank some of its wine,(AC) he became drunk and lay uncovered inside his tent. 22 Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father naked(AD) and told his two brothers outside. 23 But Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it across their shoulders; then they walked in backward and covered their father’s naked body. Their faces were turned the other way so that they would not see their father naked.
24 When Noah awoke from his wine and found out what his youngest son had done to him, 25 he said,
26 He also said,
“Praise be to the Lord, the God of Shem!(AH)
May Canaan be the slave(AI) of Shem.
27 May God extend Japheth’s[b] territory;(AJ)
may Japheth live in the tents of Shem,(AK)
and may Canaan be the slave of Japheth.”
28 After the flood Noah lived 350 years. 29 Noah lived a total of 950 years, and then he died.(AL)
