神殿から流れる川
47 それから、その人は私を神殿の入口に連れ戻しました。見ると、神殿の下から東に向かって、水が流れ出ているのです。水は祭壇の右側、すなわち南側を通って流れていました。 2 私は北の門を通って塀の外へ連れて行かれ、東の門へと回らされました。見ると、水は東の門の南端を流れていました。
3 その人は流れに沿って測りながら東に進み、一千キュビト行ったとき、その流れを渡るように私に命じました。水はくるぶしまでありました。 4 さらに一千キュビト行くと、また、渡るように命じられました。今度は、水はひざまでありました。 5 それから一千キュビト行くと、水の深さは腰までになりました。さらに一千キュビト先へ行くと、もう泳がなければ渡れないほどの川となっていました。深くて、とても歩いて渡ることはできなかったのです。 6 その人は、今見たことをよく脳裏に刻み込んでおくようにと言って、私をその川の岸に沿って連れ帰りました。 7 すると驚いたことに、川の両岸にたくさんの木が茂っているではありませんか。
8 その人はこう言いました。「この川は東に流れて、砂漠地帯とヨルダン渓谷を通って死海に注いでいる。こうして死海の塩分の多い水を浄化し、新鮮な水に変えるのだ。 9 この川の水に触れるものはすべて生き生きとする。魚が住める水に変えられるので、死海にも魚がいっぱいになる。この水が流れ込む所はどこでも、すべてのものが生かされる。 10 南はエン・ゲディから北はエン・エグライムに至るまで、死海の沿岸で漁師が漁をするようになる。岸には一面に網が干されるようになる。魚の種類も、地中海の魚と同じくらい豊富になる。 11 だが、沼地や湿地は相変わらず塩水のまま残される。 12 川岸にはあらゆる種類の果樹が茂り、その葉は枯れず、落ちることもなく、いつも実がなっている。毎月、必ず新しい実がなる。神殿から流れ出る水で潤されているからだ。その実は食物に、葉は薬になる。」
イスラエルの境界
13 神である主はこう語ります。「イスラエルの十二の部族に土地を分割するときは、次のようにしなさい。ヨセフ（エフライムとマナセ）の部族には二区分を与えよ。 14 他の部族には、それぞれ平等に一区分が与えられる。わたしはあなたがたの先祖に、土地を与えると約束した。今、その土地を受け継ぐのだ。
15 北の境界線は、地中海からヘテロンに、さらにレボ・ハマテからツェダデに、 16 ダマスコとハマテの境にあるベロタとシブライムを経て、ハウランの境にあるハツェル・ハティコンに至る。 17 つまり地中海から、北はハマテと、南はダマスコと接しているハツァル・エナンまでである。 18 東の境界線は、ハツァル・エナンからハウラン山へと南下し、そこで西に曲がってガリラヤ湖の南岸から、イスラエルとギルアデとを分けるヨルダン川に沿って死海に下り、さらにタマルに至る。
19 南の境界線は、タマルから西に向かってメリバテ・カデシュの泉を通り、エジプト川（ワディ・エル・アリシュ）に沿って地中海に至る。
20 西側は地中海が境界線で、南の境界線から北の境界線が始まる所までである。
21 これらの境界線の内側を、イスラエルの部族に分割しなければならない。 22 その土地をあなたがたと、あなたがたの中に住んでいる外国人の相続地として割り当てるのだ。イスラエルの地で生まれた子どもはみな、たとえ親が外国人でも、イスラエルの市民権が与えられ、あなたがたの子どもと同じ権利を与えられる。 23 このような移住者全員に、現在住んでいる部族の間で土地を与えなければならない。

The River From the Temple
47 The man brought me back to the entrance to the temple, and I saw water(A) coming out from under the threshold of the temple toward the east (for the temple faced east). The water was coming down from under the south side of the temple, south of the altar.(B) 2 He then brought me out through the north gate(C) and led me around the outside to the outer gate facing east, and the water was trickling from the south side.
3 As the man went eastward with a measuring line(D) in his hand, he measured off a thousand cubits[a] and then led me through water that was ankle-deep. 4 He measured off another thousand cubits and led me through water that was knee-deep. He measured off another thousand and led me through water that was up to the waist. 5 He measured off another thousand, but now it was a river(E) that I could not cross, because the water had risen and was deep enough to swim in—a river that no one could cross.(F) 6 He asked me, “Son of man, do you see this?”
Then he led me back to the bank of the river. 7 When I arrived there, I saw a great number of trees on each side of the river.(G) 8 He said to me, “This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah,[b](H) where it enters the Dead Sea. When it empties into the sea, the salty water there becomes fresh.(I) 9 Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows. There will be large numbers of fish, because this water flows there and makes the salt water fresh; so where the river flows everything will live.(J) 10 Fishermen(K) will stand along the shore; from En Gedi(L) to En Eglaim there will be places for spreading nets.(M) The fish will be of many kinds(N)—like the fish of the Mediterranean Sea.(O) 11 But the swamps and marshes will not become fresh; they will be left for salt.(P) 12 Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river.(Q) Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit(R) fail. Every month they will bear fruit, because the water from the sanctuary(S) flows to them. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing.(T)”
The Boundaries of the Land
13 This is what the Sovereign Lord says: “These are the boundaries(U) of the land that you will divide among the twelve tribes of Israel as their inheritance, with two portions for Joseph.(V) 14 You are to divide it equally among them. Because I swore with uplifted hand to give it to your ancestors, this land will become your inheritance.(W)
15 “This is to be the boundary of the land:(X)
“On the north side it will run from the Mediterranean Sea(Y) by the Hethlon road(Z) past Lebo Hamath to Zedad, 16 Berothah[c](AA) and Sibraim (which lies on the border between Damascus and Hamath),(AB) as far as Hazer Hattikon, which is on the border of Hauran. 17 The boundary will extend from the sea to Hazar Enan,[d] along the northern border of Damascus, with the border of Hamath to the north. This will be the northern boundary.(AC)
18 “On the east side the boundary will run between Hauran and Damascus, along the Jordan between Gilead and the land of Israel, to the Dead Sea and as far as Tamar.[e] This will be the eastern boundary.(AD)
19 “On the south side it will run from Tamar as far as the waters of Meribah Kadesh,(AE) then along the Wadi of Egypt(AF) to the Mediterranean Sea.(AG) This will be the southern boundary.
20 “On the west side, the Mediterranean Sea will be the boundary to a point opposite Lebo Hamath.(AH) This will be the western boundary.(AI)
21 “You are to distribute this land among yourselves according to the tribes of Israel. 22 You are to allot it as an inheritance(AJ) for yourselves and for the foreigners(AK) residing among you and who have children. You are to consider them as native-born Israelites; along with you they are to be allotted an inheritance among the tribes of Israel.(AL) 23 In whatever tribe a foreigner resides, there you are to give them their inheritance,” declares the Sovereign Lord.(AM)

土地の分割
48 以下は、各部族と、その土地のリストである。ダンの所有地は、地中海に面する北西の境界線からヘテロン、レボ・ハマテを経て、さらに南はダマスコと、北はハマテと接する境界線上のハツァル・エナンまでである。ダンの地の東と西はそれぞれ境界線が境となっている。 2 アシェルの土地は、ダンの南で、東と西はそれぞれの境界線が境となっている。 3 ナフタリの土地は、アシェルの南で、東と西はそれぞれの境界線が境となっている。 4 マナセの土地は、ナフタリの南で、同じように、東と西はそれぞれ境界線が境となっている。 5-7 さらに南へと、エフライム、ルベン、ユダの土地が続き、その東と西は同じように境界線が境となっている。

13 その広さは祭司のための区域と同じで、二つ合わせると、長さ二万五千キュビト、幅二万キュビトになる。 14 この特別区の買売や交換は厳禁され、ほかの者に使わせてもいけない。それは主のために聖別された地だからである。
15 神殿のための特別区域の南にある、長さ二万五千キュビト、幅五千キュビトの細長い地は、一般用のもので、町を中心にして、家や牧場や農園を造るようにしなさい。 16 町は四千五百キュビト平方の正方形とする。 17 牧場は約二百五十キュビトの幅で、町の回りを囲むようにする。 18 聖なる区域に接したこの地域で、町の外にある残りの地は、東西にそれぞれ一万キュビトで、町の住民のための農園である。 19 町で働くイスラエル人なら、どの部族の者でもこの農園で働くことができる。 20 聖なる区域と町の所有地とを合わせた、この土地全体は二万五千キュビト平方である。
21-22 この区域の両側の、イスラエルの東と西の境までの地は君主のものである。ユダとベニヤミンとの土地にはさまれたこの土地は、聖なる区域と町の所有地との両側にあって、幅はそれぞれ二万五千キュビトである。

新しい町の門
30-31 「町の門には、それぞれイスラエルの各部族の名がつけられている。北側の四千五百キュビトの城壁には三つの門があり、ルベンの門、ユダの門、レビの門と名づけられている。 32 東側の四千五百キュビトの城壁にも、ヨセフの門、ベニヤミンの門、ダンの門と名づけられた門がある。 33 南側の城壁も同じ長さで、シメオンの門、イッサカルの門、ゼブルンの門と呼ばれる三つの門がある。 34 西側の四千五百キュビトの城壁にも、ガドの門、アシェルの門、ナフタリの門と呼ばれる三つの門がある。 35 町の周囲は一万八千キュビトあり、町の名は『神の都』と呼ばれる。」

The Division of the Land
48 “These are the tribes, listed by name: At the northern frontier, Dan(A) will have one portion; it will follow the Hethlon road(B) to Lebo Hamath;(C) Hazar Enan and the northern border of Damascus next to Hamath will be part of its border from the east side to the west side.
2 “Asher(D) will have one portion; it will border the territory of Dan from east to west.
3 “Naphtali(E) will have one portion; it will border the territory of Asher from east to west.
4 “Manasseh(F) will have one portion; it will border the territory of Naphtali from east to west.
5 “Ephraim(G) will have one portion; it will border the territory of Manasseh(H) from east to west.(I)
6 “Reuben(J) will have one portion; it will border the territory of Ephraim from east to west.
7 “Judah(K) will have one portion; it will border the territory of Reuben from east to west.
8 “Bordering the territory of Judah from east to west will be the portion you are to present as a special gift. It will be 25,000 cubits[a] wide, and its length from east to west will equal one of the tribal portions; the sanctuary will be in the center of it.(L)
9 “The special portion you are to offer to the Lord will be 25,000 cubits long and 10,000 cubits[b] wide.(M) 10 This will be the sacred portion for the priests. It will be 25,000 cubits long on the north side, 10,000 cubits wide on the west side, 10,000 cubits wide on the east side and 25,000 cubits long on the south side. In the center of it will be the sanctuary of the Lord.(N) 11 This will be for the consecrated priests, the Zadokites,(O) who were faithful in serving me(P) and did not go astray as the Levites did when the Israelites went astray.(Q) 12 It will be a special gift to them from the sacred portion of the land, a most holy portion, bordering the territory of the Levites.
13 “Alongside the territory of the priests, the Levites will have an allotment 25,000 cubits long and 10,000 cubits wide. Its total length will be 25,000 cubits and its width 10,000 cubits.(R) 14 They must not sell or exchange any of it. This is the best of the land and must not pass into other hands, because it is holy to the Lord.(S)
15 “The remaining area, 5,000 cubits[c] wide and 25,000 cubits long, will be for the common use of the city, for houses and for pastureland. The city will be in the center of it 16 and will have these measurements: the north side 4,500 cubits,[d] the south side 4,500 cubits, the east side 4,500 cubits, and the west side 4,500 cubits.(T) 17 The pastureland for the city will be 250 cubits[e] on the north, 250 cubits on the south, 250 cubits on the east, and 250 cubits on the west. 18 What remains of the area, bordering on the sacred portion and running the length of it, will be 10,000 cubits on the east side and 10,000 cubits on the west side. Its produce will supply food for the workers of the city.(U) 19 The workers from the city who farm it will come from all the tribes of Israel. 20 The entire portion will be a square, 25,000 cubits on each side. As a special gift you will set aside the sacred portion, along with the property of the city.
21 “What remains on both sides of the area formed by the sacred portion and the property of the city will belong to the prince. It will extend eastward from the 25,000 cubits of the sacred portion to the eastern border, and westward from the 25,000 cubits to the western border. Both these areas running the length of the tribal portions will belong to the prince, and the sacred portion with the temple sanctuary will be in the center of them.(V) 22 So the property of the Levites and the property of the city will lie in the center of the area that belongs to the prince. The area belonging to the prince will lie between the border of Judah and the border of Benjamin.
23 “As for the rest of the tribes: Benjamin(W) will have one portion; it will extend from the east side to the west side.
24 “Simeon(X) will have one portion; it will border the territory of Benjamin from east to west.
25 “Issachar(Y) will have one portion; it will border the territory of Simeon from east to west.
26 “Zebulun(Z) will have one portion; it will border the territory of Issachar from east to west.
27 “Gad(AA) will have one portion; it will border the territory of Zebulun from east to west.
28 “The southern boundary of Gad will run south from Tamar(AB) to the waters of Meribah Kadesh, then along the Wadi of Egypt to the Mediterranean Sea.(AC)
29 “This is the land you are to allot as an inheritance to the tribes of Israel, and these will be their portions,” declares the Sovereign Lord.(AD)
The Gates of the New City
30 “These will be the exits of the city: Beginning on the north side, which is 4,500 cubits long, 31 the gates of the city will be named after the tribes of Israel. The three gates on the north side will be the gate of Reuben, the gate of Judah and the gate of Levi.
32 “On the east side, which is 4,500 cubits long, will be three gates: the gate of Joseph, the gate of Benjamin and the gate of Dan.
33 “On the south side, which measures 4,500 cubits, will be three gates: the gate of Simeon, the gate of Issachar and the gate of Zebulun.
34 “On the west side, which is 4,500 cubits long, will be three gates: the gate of Gad, the gate of Asher and the gate of Naphtali.(AE)
35 “The distance all around will be 18,000 cubits.[f]
“And the name of the city from that time on will be:
the Lord is there.(AF)”

イエスの誕生
2 そのころ、皇帝アウグストが全ローマ帝国の住民登録をせよと命じました。 2 これは、クレニオがシリヤの総督だった時に行われた最初の住民登録でした。 3 登録のため、国中の者がそれぞれ先祖の故郷へ帰りました。 4 ヨセフは王家の血筋だったので、ガリラヤ地方のナザレから、ダビデ王の出身地ユダヤのベツレヘムまで行かなければなりません。 5 婚約者のマリヤも連れて行きましたが、この時にはもう、マリヤのお腹は目立つほどになっていました。 6 そして、ベツレヘムにいる間に、 7 マリヤは初めての子を産みました。男の子です。彼女はその子を布でくるみ、飼葉おけに寝かせました。宿屋が満員で、泊めてもらえなかったからです。
8 その夜、町はずれの野原では、羊飼いが数人、羊の番をしていました。 9 そこへ突然、天使が現れ、主の栄光があたり一面をさっと照らしたのです。これを見た羊飼いたちは恐ろしさのあまり震え上がりました。 10 天使は言いました。「こわがることはありません。これまで聞いたこともない、すばらしい出来事を知らせてあげましょう。すべての人への喜びの知らせです。 11 今夜、ダビデの町（ベツレヘム）で救い主がお生まれになりました。この方こそ主キリストです。 12 布にくるまれ、飼葉おけに寝かされている幼子、それが目じるしです。」 13 するとたちまち、さらに大ぜいの天使たちが現れ、神をほめたたえました。
14 「天では、神に栄光があるように。
地上では、平和が、
神に喜ばれる人々にあるように。」
15 天使の大軍が天に帰ると、羊飼いたちは、「さあ、ベツレヘムへ行こう。主が知らせてくださった、すばらしい出来事を見てこようではないか」と、互いに言い合いました。 16 羊飼いたちは息せき切って町まで駆けて行き、ようやくヨセフとマリヤとを捜しあてました。飼葉おけには幼子が寝ていました。 17 何もかも天使の言ったとおりです。羊飼いたちはこのことをほかの人に話して聞かせました。 18 それを聞いた人たちはみなひどく驚きましたが、 19 マリヤはこれらのことをすべて心に納めて思い巡らしていました。 20 羊飼いたちは、天使が語ったとおり幼子に会えたので、神を賛美しながら帰って行きました。
21 八日たち、割礼を行う日になり、その子は、母の胎内に宿る前から天使に示されたとおり、「イエス」と名づけられました。
22 モーセの律法によるきよめ（母親のきよめと幼子の献児）の時が来ると、両親はイエスを主にささげるため、エルサレムに連れて来ました。 23 モーセの律法には、「女から最初に生まれる子が男であれば、その子を主にささげなければならない」とあったのです。 24 両親は、決まりどおり、「山鳩一つがい、または家鳩のひな二羽」をきよめの供え物としてささげました。 25 その日、神殿には、エルサレムに住むシメオンという人がいました。信仰のあつい正しい人で、聖霊に満たされ、イスラエルにメシヤ（救い主）の来るのを待ち望んでいました。 26 神が遣わされるその方を見るまでは絶対に死なない、と聖霊のお告げを受けていたのです。 27 その日彼は、聖霊に導かれて神殿に来て、マリヤとヨセフがイエスを主にささげるためにやって来るのに出会ったのです。 28 シメオンはイエスを抱き上げ、神を賛美しました。
29 「主よ。今こそ私は安心して死ねます。
30 お約束どおり、この目でメシヤを見、
31 あなたが遣わされた救い主に
お会いしたのですから。
32 この方はすべての国を照らす光、
あなたの民イスラエルの光栄です。」
33 ヨセフとマリヤはそこに立ったまま、驚いてシメオンの言うことを聞いていました。 34-35 シメオンは両親を祝福してから、マリヤに言いました。「剣があなたの胸を刺し通すでしょう。イスラエルの多くの人がこの子を信じようとしないで、滅びるからです。しかし、この子によって大きな喜びを受ける人も多くいます。こうして、多くの人の思いが現されるのです。」
36-37 その日、女預言者アンナも神殿にいました。彼女はアセル族のパヌエルの娘で、非常に年をとっていました。七年の結婚生活の後、未亡人で通し、もう八十四歳にもなっていたのです。彼女は神殿を一歩も離れず、祈りと断食に明け暮れ、神に仕える毎日を送っていました。 38 この時、そこにいたアンナも神に感謝をささげ、救い主の来るのを待ちわびていたエルサレムのすべての人に、メシヤがおいでになったことを語りました。
少年イエス
39 モーセの律法どおりにすべてのことをすませると、ヨセフとマリヤはガリラヤのナザレに帰りました。 40 イエスは成長してたくましくなり、たいへん賢い子だと評判になるほどでした。神も絶えずイエスを祝福してくださいました。
41 さて、両親は過越の祭り（パン種を入れないパンを食べる、年に一度のユダヤ人の祭り）には、毎年かかさずエルサレムに行きました。 42 十二歳の時、イエスは祭りの慣習に従って、両親についてエルサレムに行きました。 43 祭りが終わると、両親は帰途につきましたが、イエスはそのままエルサレムに残っていました。そうとは知らない両親は、 44 てっきりほかの人たちといっしょに帰っているものと考え、気にもとめず、その日一日、旅を続けました。ところが、夕方になってもイエスの姿が見あたりません。あわてて、親族や友人たちの間を捜し始めました。 45 それでも見つからず、とうとう、捜しながらエルサレムまで引き返しました。
46 三日後、ようやくイエスの居場所がわかりました。なんと、神殿で律法の教師たちを相手にむずかしい議論をしていたのです。 47 取り巻く見物人はみな、イエスの知恵と答えに舌を巻いていました。 48 両親は、わが子が落ち着きはらって座っているのを見て、驚きました。「どうしてこんなことをしたのです。お父さんもお母さんも、どんなに心配して捜し回ったか知れないんですよ」とマリヤが言いました。 49 ところがイエスは、「なぜ捜したのですか。ぼくが父の家（神殿）にいるとわからなかったのですか」と答えました。 50 こう言われても、どういうことか、両親にはさっぱりわかりませんでした。
51 それからイエスは、両親といっしょにナザレに帰り、彼らによく仕えました。マリヤは、このことをみな心にとめておきました。
52 イエスは身長も伸び、ますます知恵も加わって、神にも人にも愛されました。

2 In those days Caesar Augustus(A) issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world.(B) 2 (This was the first census that took place while[a] Quirinius was governor of Syria.)(C) 3 And everyone went to their own town to register.
4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem(D) the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him(E) and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.
8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel(F) of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid.(G) I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior(H) has been born to you; he is the Messiah,(I) the Lord.(J) 12 This will be a sign(K) to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace(L) to those on whom his favor rests.”
15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”
16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger.(M) 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.(N) 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God(O) for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.
21 On the eighth day, when it was time to circumcise the child,(P) he was named Jesus, the name the angel had given him before he was conceived.(Q)
Jesus Presented in the Temple
22 When the time came for the purification rites required by the Law of Moses,(R) Joseph and Mary took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord 23 (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, “Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord”[b]),(S) 24 and to offer a sacrifice in keeping with what is said in the Law of the Lord: “a pair of doves or two young pigeons.”[c](T)
25 Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout.(U) He was waiting for the consolation of Israel,(V) and the Holy Spirit was on him. 26 It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Messiah. 27 Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law required,(W) 28 Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying:
29 “Sovereign Lord, as you have promised,(X)
you may now dismiss[d] your servant in peace.(Y)
30 For my eyes have seen your salvation,(Z)
31 which you have prepared in the sight of all nations:
32 a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
and the glory of your people Israel.”(AA)
33 The child’s father and mother marveled at what was said about him. 34 Then Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother:(AB) “This child is destined to cause the falling(AC) and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against, 35 so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your own soul too.”
36 There was also a prophet,(AD) Anna, the daughter of Penuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, 37 and then was a widow until she was eighty-four.[e](AE) She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying.(AF) 38 Coming up to them at that very moment, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem.(AG)
39 When Joseph and Mary had done everything required by the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee to their own town of Nazareth.(AH) 40 And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was on him.(AI)
The Boy Jesus at the Temple
41 Every year Jesus’ parents went to Jerusalem for the Festival of the Passover.(AJ) 42 When he was twelve years old, they went up to the festival, according to the custom. 43 After the festival was over, while his parents were returning home, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but they were unaware of it. 44 Thinking he was in their company, they traveled on for a day. Then they began looking for him among their relatives and friends. 45 When they did not find him, they went back to Jerusalem to look for him. 46 After three days they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. 47 Everyone who heard him was amazed(AK) at his understanding and his answers. 48 When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother(AL) said to him, “Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father(AM) and I have been anxiously searching for you.”
49 “Why were you searching for me?” he asked. “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?”[f](AN) 50 But they did not understand what he was saying to them.(AO)
51 Then he went down to Nazareth with them(AP) and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart.(AQ) 52 And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.(AR)
