¹⁷ Sigh, but not aloud; make no mourning for the dead. ^(A)Bind on your turban, and ^(B)put your shoes on your feet; do not cover your lips, ^(C)nor eat the bread of men.”

³⁰ But David went up the ascent of the Mount of Olives, weeping as he went, ^(A)barefoot and ^(B)with his head covered. And all the people who were with him covered their heads, and they went up, ^(C)weeping as they went.

^10 (A)“The priest who is chief among his brothers, on whose head the anointing oil is poured and who has been consecrated to wear the garments, ^(B)shall not let the hair of his head hang loose nor tear his clothes.

⁶ And Moses said to Aaron and to Eleazar and Ithamar his sons, ^(A)“Do not let the hair of your heads hang loose, and do not tear your clothes, lest you die, and ^(B)wrath come upon all the congregation; but let your brothers, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning that the Lord has kindled.

²² And ^(A)you shall do as I have done; ^(B)you shall not cover your lips, ^(C)nor eat the bread of men. ^23 (D)Your turbans shall be on your heads and your shoes on your feet; you shall not mourn or weep, but ^(E)you shall rot away in your iniquities and groan to one another.
