28 This brilliance around him looked like a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy day. This was how the appearance of the glory of Adonai looked. When I saw it, I fell on my face, and I heard the voice of someone speaking.
2 He said to me, “Human being! Stand up! I want to speak with you!”
Ezekiel 1:28-2:1
New International Version
28 Like the appearance of a rainbow(A) in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the radiance around him.(B)
This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory(C) of the Lord. When I saw it, I fell facedown,(D) and I heard the voice of one speaking.
Ezekiel’s Call to Be a Prophet
2 He said to me, “Son of man,[a](E) stand(F) up on your feet and I will speak to you.(G)”

- Ezekiel 2:1 The Hebrew phrase ben adam means human being. The phrase son of man is retained as a form of address here and throughout Ezekiel because of its possible association with “Son of Man” in the New Testament.
