14 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write(A) this on a scroll as something to be remembered and make sure that Joshua hears it, because I will completely blot out(B) the name of Amalek(C) from under heaven.”

When Moses went and told the people all the Lord’s words and laws,(A) they responded with one voice, “Everything the Lord has said we will do.”(B) Moses then wrote(C) down everything the Lord had said.

He got up early the next morning and built an altar(D) at the foot of the mountain and set up twelve stone pillars(E) representing the twelve tribes of Israel. Then he sent young Israelite men, and they offered burnt offerings(F) and sacrificed young bulls as fellowship offerings(G) to the Lord. Moses(H) took half of the blood(I) and put it in bowls, and the other half he splashed(J) against the altar. Then he took the Book of the Covenant(K) and read it to the people. They responded, “We will do everything the Lord has said; we will obey.”(L)

The New Stone Tablets

34 The Lord said to Moses, “Chisel out two stone tablets like the first ones,(A) and I will write on them the words that were on the first tablets,(B) which you broke.(C) Be ready in the morning, and then come up on Mount Sinai.(D) Present yourself to me there on top of the mountain. No one is to come with you or be seen anywhere on the mountain;(E) not even the flocks and herds may graze in front of the mountain.”

So Moses chiseled(F) out two stone tablets like the first ones and went up Mount Sinai early in the morning, as the Lord had commanded him; and he carried the two stone tablets in his hands.(G)
