¹⁴ The most trusted ones^[a] were Carshena, Shethar, Admatha, Tarshish, Meres, Marsena, and Memucan. They were the seven officials^(A) of Persia and Media^(B) who had personal access to the king^(C) and occupied the highest positions in the kingdom.^(D)
