Gideon river ner Baals altare
24 Och Gideon byggde upp ett altare där och kallade det ”Herren är frid”. Altaret finns fortfarande kvar i aviesriternas Ofra.
25 På natten sa Herren till Gideon att ta den andre i ordningen av faderns tjurar, den som var sju år gammal, föra fram den till hans fars baalsaltare, riva ner altaret och hugga sönder asherapålen som stod bredvid.
26 ”Bygg ett altare åt Herren, din Gud! Du ska bygga det uppe på denna kulle. Offra sedan tjuren som ett brännoffer till Herren och använd virket från den nedhuggna asherapålen som ved!”

Judges 6:24-26
New International Version
24 So Gideon built an altar to the Lord there and called(A) it The Lord Is Peace. To this day it stands in Ophrah(B) of the Abiezrites.
25 That same night the Lord said to him, “Take the second bull from your father’s herd, the one seven years old.[a] Tear down your father’s altar to Baal and cut down the Asherah pole[b](C) beside it. 26 Then build a proper kind of[c] altar to the Lord your God on the top of this height. Using the wood of the Asherah pole that you cut down, offer the second[d] bull as a burnt offering.(D)”
