34 And Moshe went up from the plains of Moav unto Mt Nevo to the top of Pisgah, that is, over against Yericho. And Hashem showed him all Eretz Gil`ad, unto Dan,
2 And all Naphtali, and Eretz Ephrayim, and Menasheh, and all Eretz Yehudah, unto the Western [Mediterranean] Sea,
3 And the Negev, and the plain of the valley of Yericho, the Ir Hatemarim (City of Date Palms), unto Tzoar.
4 And Hashem said unto him, This is HaAretz which I swore unto Avraham, unto Yitzchak, and unto Ya’akov, saying, I will give it unto thy zera; I have caused thee to see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not go over thither.
5 So Moshe Eved Hashem died there in Eretz Moav, as Hashem had said.
6 And He buried him in a valley in Eretz Moav, over against Beit Peor; but no man knoweth of his kever unto this yom. [See Yeshayah 53:9 on Moshiach’s kever.]
7 And Moshe was me’ah v’esrim shanah when he died; his eyesight was not weakened, nor his natural force reduced.
8 And the Bnei Yisroel wept for Moshe in the plains of Moav shloshim yom; then the yamim of weeping and mourning for Moshe were ended.
9 And Yehoshua ben Nun was full of the ruach chochmah; for Moshe had laid his hands upon him; and the Bnei Yisroel were heedful unto him, and did as Hashem commanded Moshe.
10 And there arose not a navi since in Yisroel like unto Moshe, whom Hashem knew panim el panim (face to face),
11 In all the otot and the mofetim, which Hashem sent him to do in Eretz Mitzrayim to Pharaoh, and to all his avadim, and to all his land,
12 And in all that yad hachazakah, and in all the morah hagadol (great terror) which Moshe did in the sight of kol Yisroel.

34 (vii) Moshe ascended from the plains of Mo’av to Mount N’vo, to the summit of Pisgah, across from Yericho. There Adonai showed him all the land — Gil‘ad as far as Dan, 2 all Naftali, the land of Efrayim and M’nasheh, the land of Y’hudah all the way to the sea beyond, 3 the Negev, and the ‘Aravah, including the valley where Yericho, the City of Date-Palms, as far away as Tzo‘ar. 4 Adonai said to him, “This is the land concerning which I swore to Avraham, Yitz’chak and Ya‘akov, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’ I have let you see it with your eyes, but you will not cross over there.”
5 So Moshe, the servant of Adonai, died there in the land of Mo’av, as Adonai had said. 6 He was buried in the valley across from Beit-P‘or in the land of Mo’av, but to this day no one knows where his grave is.
7 Moshe was 120 years old when he died, with eyes undimmed and vigor undiminished. 8 The people of Isra’el mourned Moshe on the plains of Mo’av for thirty days; after this, the days of crying and mourning for Moshe ended.
9 Y’hoshua the son of Nun was full of the Spirit of wisdom, for Moshe had laid his hands on him, and the people of Isra’el heeded him and did what Adonai had ordered Moshe.
10 Since that time there has not arisen in Isra’el a prophet like Moshe, whom Adonai knew face to face. 11 What signs and wonders Adonai sent him to perform in the land of Egypt upon Pharaoh, all his servants and all his land! 12 What might was in his hand! What great terror he evoked before the eyes of all Isra’el!

De dood van Mozes
34 Daar, in de vlakte van Moab, klom Mozes toen de berg Nebo op. Dat is één van de bergen van de Pisga die tegenover Jericho liggen. Vanaf die berg liet de Heer hem het hele land zien, vanaf het gebied van Gilead tot aan het gebied van Dan, 2 het hele gebied van Naftali, het gebied van Efraïm en Manasse, het hele gebied van Juda tot aan de Grote Zee, 3 het Zuiderland en de vlakte in het dal van Jericho (de Palmstad) tot aan Zoar. 4 De Heer zei tegen hem: "Dit is het land dat Ik aan Abraham, Izaäk en Jakob heb beloofd toen Ik hen zwoer: 'Ik zal dit land aan je familie ná jou geven.' Ik heb het je nu laten zien. Maar je zal niet oversteken om er binnen te gaan." 5 Toen stierf Mozes, de dienaar van de Heer, daar in het land Moab, zoals de Heer had gezegd. 6 En de Heer begroef hem in een dal in het land Moab, bij Bet-Peor. Nog steeds weet niemand waar zijn graf is. 7 Mozes was 120 jaar toen hij stierf. Zijn ogen waren niet slecht geworden en hij was nog steeds sterk. 8 De Israëlieten treurden 30 dagen lang over Mozes in de vlakte van Moab.
9 En Jozua, de zoon van Nun, was vol van de Geest van wijsheid. Want Mozes had hem vóór zijn dood de handen opgelegd. De Israëlieten gehoorzaamden hem, zoals de Heer had bevolen.
10 Er is nooit meer een profeet in Israël geweest met wie de Heer zó persoonlijk sprak. Hij sprak direct met Mozes, zoals iemand spreekt met zijn vriend. 11 Door niemand anders heeft de Heer nog zulke machtige dingen gedaan. Niemand anders heeft later nog zulke wonderen gedaan als Mozes deed in Egypte. 12 Niemand heeft meer zulke indrukwekkende dingen gedaan als Mozes voor Israël heeft gedaan.

34 Toen beklom Mozes vanuit de vlakte van Moab de top van de Pisga op de berg Nebo, tegenover Jericho. De Here toonde hem het beloofde land en hij keek uit over Gilead tot aan Dan: 2 hij zag Naftali liggen en Efraïm, Manasse en daar verderop Juda, dat zich uitstrekt tot aan de Middellandse Zee. 3 Ook zag hij de Negev en het dal van de Jordaan en Jericho, de stad van de palmbomen, en Soar. 4 ‘Dat is het beloofde land,’ zei de Here tegen Mozes. ‘Ik beloofde Abraham, Isaak en Jakob dat Ik het hun nakomelingen zou geven. Nu hebt u het gezien, maar u zult het niet binnengaan.’ 5 Zo stierf Mozes, de dienaar van de Here, in het land Moab, zoals de Here had gezegd. 6 En de Here begroef hem in een dal bij Bet-Peor in Moab, maar tot nu toe weet niemand precies waar hij ligt. 7 Mozes was honderdtwintig jaar oud toen hij stierf, maar zijn ogen waren nog goed en hij was nog net zo sterk als een jonge man. 8 Het volk Israël rouwde dertig dagen om hem op de vlakte van Moab.
9 Jozua, de zoon van Nun, was vervuld met de Geest van de wijsheid, want Mozes had hem de handen opgelegd. Daarom gehoorzaamden de Israëlieten hem en leefden volgens de wetten en regels die de Here Mozes had gegeven. 10 Er is daarna in Israël nooit meer een profeet zoals Mozes geweest, want de Here sprak met hem van aangezicht tot aangezicht. 11,12 Hij deed op bevel van de Here verbazingwekkende wonderen, grote en angstaanjagende wonderen voor de farao en zijn hele hofhouding in Egypte en voor het hele volk Israël in de woestijn.
