7 From there they journeyed to Gudgodah, and from Gudgodah to Jotbathah, a land flowing with streams of water. 8 At that time Yahweh set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of the covenant of Yahweh to stand before[a] Yahweh, to serve him and to bless the people in his name until this day. 9 Therefore there was not[b] for Levi an allotment or an inheritance along with his brothers; rather Yahweh is his inheritance just as Yahweh your God promised[c] to him.

7 From there they traveled to Gudgodah and on to Jotbathah, a land with streams of water.(A) 8 At that time the Lord set apart the tribe of Levi(B) to carry the ark of the covenant(C) of the Lord, to stand before the Lord to minister(D) and to pronounce blessings(E) in his name, as they still do today.(F) 9 That is why the Levites have no share or inheritance among their fellow Israelites; the Lord is their inheritance,(G) as the Lord your God told them.)
