Introduction

1 These are the words Moses spoke to all Israel across the Jordan in the wilderness,^(A) in the Arabah^(B) opposite Suph,^[a] between Paran^(C) and Tophel, Laban, Hazeroth,^(D) and Di-zahab. ² It is an eleven-day journey from Horeb^(E) to Kadesh-barnea^(F) by way of Mount Seir.^{(G) 3} In the fortieth year,^(H) in the eleventh month, on the first of the month, Moses told the Israelites everything the Lord had commanded him to say to them.
