Daniel 7

7 In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel [a]had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream and told the sum of the matters. 2 Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of heaven brake forth upon the great sea. 3 And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another. 4 The first was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made to stand upon two feet as a man; and a man’s heart was given to it. 5 And, behold, another beast, a second, like to a bear; and [b]it was raised up on one side, and three ribs were in its mouth between its teeth: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh. 6 After this I beheld, and, lo, another, like a leopard, which had upon its back four wings of a bird; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it. 7 After this I saw in the night-visions, and, behold, a fourth beast, terrible and [c]powerful, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth; it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with its feet: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns. 8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another horn, a little one, before which three of the first horns were plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of a man, and a mouth speaking great things.
9 I beheld till thrones were [d]placed, and one that was ancient of days did sit: his raiment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like pure wool; his throne was fiery flames, and the wheels thereof burning fire. 10 A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousands of thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened. 11 I beheld at that time because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake; I beheld even till the beast was slain, and its body destroyed, and it was given [e]to be burned with fire. 12 And as for the rest of the beasts, their dominion was taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and a time.
13 I saw in the night-visions, and, behold, there came with the clouds of heaven one like unto a son of man, and he came even to the ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. 14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all the peoples, nations, and languages should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
15 As for me, Daniel, my spirit was grieved in the midst of [f]my body, and the visions of my head troubled me. 16 I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth concerning all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things. 17 These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, that shall arise out of the earth. 18 But the saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever. 19 Then I desired to know the truth concerning the fourth beast, which was diverse from all of them, exceeding terrible, whose teeth were of iron, and its nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with its feet; 20 and concerning the ten horns that were on its head, and the other horn which came up, and before which three fell, even that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake great things, whose look was more stout than its fellows. 21 I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them; 22 until the ancient of days came, and judgment was given [g]to the saints of the Most High, and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.
23 Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be a fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all the kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall [h]tread it down, and break it in pieces. 24 And as for the ten horns, out of this kingdom shall ten kings arise: and another shall arise after them; and he shall be diverse from the former, and he shall put down three kings. 25 And he shall speak words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High; and he shall think to change the times and the law; and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and half a time. 26 But the judgment shall be set, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end. 27 And the kingdom and the dominion, and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High: his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him. 28 [i]Here is the end of the matter. As for me, Daniel, my thoughts much troubled me, and my [j]countenance was changed in me: but I kept the matter in my heart.

네 짐승에 대한 다니엘의 환상
7 바빌로니아의 벨사살왕 원년에 다니엘이 밤에 꿈을 꾸고 환상을 본 내용을 이렇게 기록하였다:
2 내가 밤에 환상을 보니 [a]사방에서 바람이 큰 바다로 불어닥치더니
3 그 바다에서 모양이 각각 다른 네 마리의 큰 짐승이 나왔다.
4 그 첫째 짐승은 사자처럼 생겼으나 독수리의 날개가 있었다. 내가 보는 사이에 그 날개가 뽑히고 그 짐승은 사람처럼 두 발로 땅에 꼿꼿이 섰으며 또 사람의 마음을 받았다.
5 둘째 짐승은 곰처럼 생겼는데 그것은 앞발을 들고 세 갈빗대를 물고 있었다. 그때 “일어나 많은 고기를 삼켜라” 하는 음성이 들렸다.
6 그 후에 내가 보는 가운데 셋째 짐승이 나타났다. 그것은 표범처럼 생겼으며 그 등에는 새의 날개와 같은 네 날개가 있었다. 그리고 그 짐승은 머리가 네 개였으며 다스리는 권세를 받았다.
7 다음으로 내가 환상 가운데 본 넷째 짐승은 두렵고 무섭게 생겼으며 아주 강하게 보였다. 그것은 철 이빨을 가지고 마구 먹고 부수뜨리며 남은 것은 발로 짓밟았다. 이 짐승은 앞서 말한 다른 짐승과 달랐으며 또 열 뿔을 가지고 있었다.
8 내가 그 뿔을 유심히 보고 있을 때 작은 뿔 하나가 그 사이에서 나오더니 먼저 있던 뿔 가운데 세 개가 그 앞에서 뿌리째 뽑혀 나갔으며 이 작은 뿔에는 사람의 눈과 같은 눈이 있고 또 입이 있어 자랑하며 크게 떠벌리고 있었다.
9 내가 또 보고 있을 때 왕좌들이 놓이고 영원히 살아 계시는 분이 그의 보좌에 앉으셨다. 그의 옷은 눈처럼 희고 그의 머리털은 깨끗한 양털과 같으며 바퀴가 달린 그 보좌는 불꽃처럼 타올라
10 그 앞에서 불이 강물처럼 흘러 나왔다. 그리고 그를 섬기는 천사들이 수백만이나 되었고 또 수억의 사람들이 그 앞에 서서 심판을 받기 위해 기다리고 있었으며 법정이 열리고 거기에는 책들이 펴져 있었다.
11 그 작은 뿔이 자랑하며 떠들어대는 소리에 내가 보니 넷째 짐승이 죽음을 당하고 그 시체는 절단되어 불 속에 던져졌으며
12 그 나머지 짐승들은 권세를 빼앗겼으나 일정한 기간 동안 생명만은 살아 남도록 되어 있었다.
13 내가 또 밤의 환상 가운데 보니 사람처럼 생긴 분이 하늘의 구름을 타고 와서 영원히 살아 계시는 하나님 앞으로 인도되었다.
14 하나님이 그에게 권세와 영광과 왕권을 주어 세상 모든 나라와 민족들이 그를 섬기게 하셨으므로 그 권세는 영원히 지속될 것이며 그의 나라는 결코 망하지 않을 것이다.
환상에 대한 해석
15 나 다니엘은 그 환상을 보고 몹시 심란하여
16 그 보좌 곁에 선 한 천사에게 가서 이 모든 것이 무엇을 뜻하는지 물었다. 그러자 그는 그 뜻을 나에게 이렇게 말하였다.
17 “그 큰 네 짐승은 세상에 일어날 네 왕이다.
18 그러나 가장 높으신 분의 성도들이 그 나라를 얻어 영원히 소유할 것이다.”
19 그런 다음 나는 넷째 짐승에 대한 뜻을 알고 싶어했는데 그것은 다른 짐승과 달라서 아주 무섭게 생겼으며 철 이빨과 구리 발톱을 가지고 마구 먹고 부수뜨리고 나머지는 발로 짓밟았으며
20 또 그 머리에는 열 뿔이 있었다. 그리고 다른 한 뿔이 나오자 먼저 있던 세 뿔이 그 앞에서 빠졌으며 새로 나온 그 뿔에는 눈과 입이 있어 크게 자랑하고 다른 뿔과 달라 아주 강하게 보였다.
21 내가 보니 이 뿔이 전쟁을 일으켜 성도들과 싸워 이겼다.
22 그러자 영원히 살아 계시며 가장 높으신 하나님이 오셔서 자기 백성이 유리한 쪽으로 심판을 선언하셨으며 때가 되자 성도들이 나라를 얻었다.
23 [b]나에게 설명을 해 주는 천사가 다시 말하였다. “넷째 짐승은 앞으로 세상에 나타날 네 번째 나라이다. 이것은 다른 모든 나라와 달라서 온 세상을 삼키고 밟아 부수뜨릴 것이다.
24 그 열 뿔은 이 나라에서 일어날 열 명의 왕이며 그 외에 또 한 왕이 일어날 것이다. 그는 먼저 있던 왕들과 달라 세 왕을 굴복시킬 것이다.
25 그가 장차 가장 높으신 하나님을 대적하여 말할 것이며 성도들을 괴롭힐 것이다. 그가 또 때와 법을 변경시키려고 할 것이며 성도들은 [c]3년 반 동안 그의 지배를 받을 것이다.
26 “그러나 심판이 시작되면 그는 권력을 빼앗기고 아주 망해 버릴 것이며
27 천하의 모든 나라와 권세가 가장 높으신 하나님의 백성에게 주어질 것이다. [d]그들의 나라는 영원히 지속되고 모든 통치자들이 [e]그들을 섬기며 복종할 것이다.”
28 이것으로 그 꿈의 해석은 끝났다. 나 다니엘은 얼굴이 창백해질 정도로 몹시 심란하였으나 그 일을 감추고 아무에게도 말하지 않았다.
