Gậy Của A-rôn
17 CHÚA dạy Môi-se: 2 “Hãy bảo dân Y-sơ-ra-ên, mỗi trưởng bộ tộc Y-sơ-ra-ên đem đến một cây gậy; nghĩa là mười hai cây gậy, mỗi cây cho bộ tộc của mình. 3 Con phải đề tên mỗi người trên cây gậy của mình, và đề tên A-rôn trên cây gậy của Lê-vi; vì phải có một cây gậy cho mỗi trưởng bộ tộc. 4 Con đem các gậy này đặt trong Trại Hội Kiến, trước Rương Giao Ước, là nơi Ta sẽ gặp con. 5 Gậy của người được Ta chọn sẽ trổ hoa, như vậy dân chúng sẽ không còn lý do gì để phàn nàn con nữa.”
6 Môi-se nói lại với người Y-sơ-ra-ên, và các trưởng bộ tộc vâng theo huấn thị, đem gậy đến. 7 Môi-se đem để mười hai cây gậy trong Trại Hội Kiến trước mặt CHÚA. Gậy của A-rôn ở giữa các gậy khác.
8 Ngày hôm sau, khi Môi-se trở vào Trại Hội Kiến, ông thấy cây gậy của A-rôn tượng trưng cho bộ tộc Lê-vi, đã đâm chồi, trổ hoa, và kết quả, có trái hạnh nhân đã chín. 9 Môi-se đem các cây gậy từ trong Trại Hội Kiến ra cho mọi người xem, họ sững sờ đứng nhìn, và cuối cùng các trưởng bộ tộc lấy gậy mình về.
10 Nhưng CHÚA lại bảo Môi-se: “Đem gậy của A-rôn đặt tại trước Rương Giao Ước, dùng nhắc nhở, cảnh cáo dân chúng về vụ nổi loạn này, để họ khỏi chết vì tai vạ và không bao giờ dám phàn nàn Ta nữa.” 11 Môi-se vâng lời CHÚA.
12 Người Y-sơ-ra-ên hoảng sợ nói với Môi-se: “Này chúng tôi bị diệt, chúng tôi bị chết, chúng tôi chết mất hết thảy! 13 Phàm ai đến gần Trại Hội Kiến đều chết, thì chúng tôi chết hết sao?”

Cây gậy của A-rôn trổ hoa
17 CHÚA bảo Mô-se, 2 “Hãy bảo dân Ít-ra-en mang mười hai cây gậy mỗi trưởng chi tộc mang một cây. Khắc tên của từng người trên mỗi cây gậy, 3 còn trên cây gậy của Lê-vi, khắc tên A-rôn. Mỗi trưởng chi tộc phải mang đến một cây gậy. 4 Để các cây gậy đó trong Lều Họp trước Rương Giao Ước, nơi ta gặp con. 5 Cây gậy của ai trổ lá tức là người đó được ta chọn. Như thế ta sẽ làm dân Ít-ra-en im miệng, để không còn phàn nàn mãi về các con.”
6 Vậy Mô-se nói với dân Ít-ra-en. Mỗi người trong mười hai trưởng tộc trao cho ông một cây gậy mỗi chi tộc một cái gậy. A-rôn cũng có một cây trong đống gậy đó. 7 Mô-se để các cây gậy trước mặt CHÚA trong Lều Giao Ước.
8 Sáng hôm sau khi Mô-se bước vào Lều thì ông thấy cây gậy của A-rôn, đại diện cho gia đình Lê-vi đã trổ lá. Cây gậy đó cũng ra nụ, hoa nở và ra trái hạnh nhân. 9 Vậy Mô-se lấy các cây gậy trước mặt CHÚA mang ra cho dân Ít-ra-en xem. Họ nhìn và ai nấy lấy cây gậy mình lại.
10 Rồi CHÚA phán cùng Mô-se,
“Hãy đặt cây gậy của A-rôn lại trước Rương Giao Ước. Nó sẽ dùng để nhắc nhở rằng dân nầy là dân luôn luôn phản nghịch ta, rồi chúng không còn kêu ca nữa để khỏi bị chết.” 11 Vậy Mô-se vâng lời CHÚA truyền dặn mình.
12 Dân Ít-ra-en bảo Mô-se, “Chúng tôi sẽ chết! Chúng tôi sẽ bị tiêu diệt, bị tiêu diệt hết! 13 Ai đến gần Lều Thánh của CHÚA sẽ chết. Vậy liệu chúng tôi có chết hết không?”

The Budding of Aaron’s Staff
17 [a]The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Speak to the Israelites and get twelve staffs(A) from them, one from the leader of each of their ancestral tribes.(B) Write the name of each man on his staff. 3 On the staff of Levi write Aaron’s name,(C) for there must be one staff for the head of each ancestral tribe. 4 Place them in the tent of meeting(D) in front of the ark of the covenant law,(E) where I meet with you.(F) 5 The staff belonging to the man I choose(G) will sprout,(H) and I will rid myself of this constant grumbling(I) against you by the Israelites.”
6 So Moses spoke to the Israelites, and their leaders gave him twelve staffs, one for the leader of each of their ancestral tribes, and Aaron’s staff was among them. 7 Moses placed the staffs before the Lord in the tent of the covenant law.(J)
8 The next day Moses entered the tent(K) and saw that Aaron’s staff,(L) which represented the tribe of Levi, had not only sprouted but had budded, blossomed and produced almonds.(M) 9 Then Moses brought out all the staffs(N) from the Lord’s presence to all the Israelites. They looked at them, and each of the leaders took his own staff.
10 The Lord said to Moses, “Put back Aaron’s staff(O) in front of the ark of the covenant law, to be kept as a sign to the rebellious.(P) This will put an end to their grumbling against me, so that they will not die.” 11 Moses did just as the Lord commanded him.
12 The Israelites said to Moses, “We will die! We are lost, we are all lost!(Q) 13 Anyone who even comes near the tabernacle of the Lord will die.(R) Are we all going to die?”

17 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and take of every one of them a rod according to the house of their fathers, of all their princes according to the house of their fathers twelve rods: write thou every man's name upon his rod.
3 And thou shalt write Aaron's name upon the rod of Levi: for one rod shall be for the head of the house of their fathers.
4 And thou shalt lay them up in the tabernacle of the congregation before the testimony, where I will meet with you.
5 And it shall come to pass, that the man's rod, whom I shall choose, shall blossom: and I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the children of Israel, whereby they murmur against you.
6 And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, and every one of their princes gave him a rod apiece, for each prince one, according to their fathers' houses, even twelve rods: and the rod of Aaron was among their rods.
7 And Moses laid up the rods before the Lord in the tabernacle of witness.
8 And it came to pass, that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds.
9 And Moses brought out all the rods from before the Lord unto all the children of Israel: and they looked, and took every man his rod.
10 And the Lord said unto Moses, Bring Aaron's rod again before the testimony, to be kept for a token against the rebels; and thou shalt quite take away their murmurings from me, that they die not.
11 And Moses did so: as the Lord commanded him, so did he.
12 And the children of Israel spake unto Moses, saying, Behold, we die, we perish, we all perish.
13 Whosoever cometh any thing near unto the tabernacle of the Lord shall die: shall we be consumed with dying?
