You Are Built Up in Christ

2 For I want you to know how great a (A)struggle I have in your behalf and for those who are at (B)Laodicea, and for all those who have not [a]personally seen my face, 2 that their (C)hearts may be encouraged, having been (D)knit together in love, and that they would attain to all (E)the wealth [b]that comes from the full assurance of understanding, resulting in a (F)true knowledge of (G)God’s mystery, that is, Christ Himself, 3 in whom are hidden all (H)the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. 4 (I)I say this so that no one will deceive you with (J)persuasive arguments. 5 For even though I am (K)absent in body, I am nevertheless with you in spirit, rejoicing [c]to see [d]your (L)orderly manner and the (M)stability of your faith in Christ.

6 Therefore, as you have received (N)Christ Jesus the Lord, so [e](O)walk in Him, 7 having been firmly (P)rooted and now being (Q)built up in Him and (R)established [f]in [g]your faith, just as you (S)were instructed, and overflowing [h]with gratitude.

8 (T)See to it that there is no one who takes you captive through (U)philosophy and empty deception in accordance with human tradition, in accordance with the (V)elementary principles of the world, [i]rather than in accordance with Christ. 9 For in Him all the (W)fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, 10 and in Him you have been (X)made [j]complete, and (Y)He is the head [k]over every (Z)ruler and authority; 11 and in Him (AA)you were also circumcised with a circumcision performed without hands, in the removal of (AB)the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ, 12 having been (AC)buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also (AD)raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who (AE)raised Him from the dead. 13 And [l]when you were (AF)dead [m]in your wrongdoings and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He (AG)made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our wrongdoings, 14 having canceled (AH)the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and (AI)He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 When He had [n](AJ)disarmed the (AK)rulers and authorities, He (AL)made a public display of them, having (AM)triumphed over them through [o]Him.

16 Therefore, no one is to [p](AN)act as your judge in regard to (AO)food and (AP)drink, or in respect to a (AQ)festival or a (AR)new moon, or a (AS)Sabbath [q]day— 17 things which are only a (AT)shadow of what is to come; but the [r]substance [s]belongs to Christ. 18 Take care that no one keeps [t](AU)defrauding you of your prize by (AV)delighting in humility and the worship of the angels, [u]taking his stand on visions he has seen, [v](AW)inflated without cause by his (AX)fleshly mind, 19 and not holding firmly to (AY)the head, from whom (AZ)the entire body, being supplied and held together by the joints and [w]ligaments, grows with a growth [x]which is from God.

20 (BA)If you have died with Christ [y]to the (BB)elementary principles of the world, (BC)why, as if you were living in the world, do you submit yourself to (BD)decrees, such as, 21 “Do not handle, do not taste, do not touch!” 22 (which all refer (BE)to things destined to perish [z]with use)—in accordance with the (BF)commandments and teachings of man? 23 These are matters which do have the [aa]appearance of wisdom in [ab](BG)self-made religion and humility and (BH)severe treatment of the body, but are of no value against (BI)fleshly indulgence.

2 我願意你們曉得，我為你們和老底嘉人，並一切沒有與我親自見面的人，是何等地盡心竭力， 2 要叫他們的心得安慰，因愛心互相聯絡，以致豐豐足足在悟性中有充足的信心，使他們真知神的奧祕，就是基督， 3 所積蓄的一切智慧知識都在他裡面藏著。 4 我說這話，免得有人用花言巧語迷惑你們。 5 我身子雖與你們相離，心卻與你們同在，見你們循規蹈矩，信基督的心也堅固，我就歡喜了。

6 你們既然接受了主基督耶穌，就當遵他而行， 7 在他裡面生根建造，信心堅固，正如你們所領的教訓，感謝的心也更增長了。

防避不合真理的學問

8 你們要謹慎，恐怕有人用他的理學和虛空的妄言，不照著基督，乃照人間的遺傳和世上的小學，就把你們擄去。 9 因為神本性一切的豐盛，都有形有體地居住在基督裡面； 10 你們在他裡面也得了豐盛。他是各樣執政掌權者的元首。 11 你們在他裡面也受了不是人手所行的割禮，乃是基督使你們脫去肉體情慾的割禮。 12 你們既受洗與他一同埋葬，也就在此與他一同復活，都因信那叫他從死裡復活神的功用。

在罪中死蒙恩得活

13 你們從前在過犯和未受割禮的肉體中死了，神赦免了你們[a]一切過犯，便叫你們與基督一同活過來， 14 又塗抹了在律例上所寫攻擊我們、有礙於我們的字據，把它撤去，釘在十字架上。 15 既將一切執政的、掌權的擄來，明顯給眾人看，就仗著十字架誇勝。

16 所以，不拘在飲食上或節期、月朔、安息日，都不可讓人論斷你們。 17 這些原是後事的影兒，那形體卻是基督。 18 不可讓人因著故意謙虛和敬拜天使，就奪去你們的獎賞。這等人拘泥在所見過的[b]，隨著自己的慾心，無故地自高自大， 19 不持定元首。全身既然靠著他，筋節得以相助聯絡，就因神大得長進。

不要在世俗中活著

20 你們若是與基督同死，脫離了世上的小學，為什麼仍像在世俗中活著，服從那「不可拿、不可嘗、不可摸」等類的規條呢？ 22 這都是照人所吩咐所教導的。說到這一切，正用的時候就都敗壞了。 23 這些規條使人徒有智慧之名，用私意崇拜，自表謙卑，苦待己身，其實在克制肉體的情慾上是毫無功效。

2 Sapagkat ibig kong malaman ninyo kung gaano kalaki ang aking pakikipagbaka para sa inyo, at sa mga taga-Laodicea, at sa lahat ng hindi pa nakakakita sa akin ng mukhaan. 2 Ito ay upang mapalakas ang kanilang mga loob na magkaisa sila sa pag-ibig. At upang magkaroon sila ng lahat ng kayamanan ng lubos na katiyakan ng pang-unawa sa pagkaalam ng hiwaga ng Diyos, at ng Ama at ni Cristo. 3 Sa kaniya natatago ang lahat ng kayamanan ng karunungan at kaalaman. 4 Sinasabi ko ito sa inyo upang huwag kayong madaya ng sinuman ng mga salitang kaakit-akit. 5 Ito ay sapagkat kahit ako ay wala riyan sa aking laman, naririyan naman ako sa inyo sa aking espiritu, na nagagalak at nakakakita ng inyong kaayusan at ng katatagan ng inyong pananampalataya kay Cristo.

7 Kayo ay nag-ugat ng malalim, at natayo sa kaniya na matatag na nagtutumibay sa pananampalatayang itinuro sa inyo at umaapaw dito na may pasasalamat.

8 Mag-ingat kayo, na baka bihagin kayo ng sinuman sa pamamagitan ng pilosopiya at ng walang kabuluhang panlilin­lang, na ayon sa kaugalian ng mga tao, ayon sa mga espiritwal na kapangyarihan ng sanlibutanito at hindi naaayon kay Cristo.

9 Ito ay sapagkat nananahan sa kaniyang katawan ang lahat ng kapuspusan ng kalikasan ng Diyos. 10 Kayo ay ganap sa kaniya na siyang pangulo ng lahat ng pamunuan at kapama­halaan. 11 Sa kaniya, kayo ay nasa pagtutuli hindi sa pamama­gitan ng mga kamay, upang hubarin ninyo ang mga kasalanan sa laman, sa pamamagitan ng pagiging nasa pagtutuli na kay Cristo. 12 Kayo ay inilibing na kasama niya sa pamamagitan ng bawtismo. Dito, kayo rin naman ay mulingbinuhay na kasama niya sa pamamagitan ng inyong pananampalataya, sa paggawa ng Diyos na bumuhay sa kaniya mula sa mga patay.

13 Kayo, na mga patay dahil sa inyong mga pagsalangsang at sa hindi pagiging nasa pagkatuli ng inyong laman, ay binuhay na kasama niya. Kayo ay pinatawad na sa lahat ng mga pagsalangsang. 14 Binura na niya ang nasulat na mga batas na laban sa atin. Inalis niya ito sa kalagitnaan natin at ipinako ito sa krus. 15 Hinubaran na niya ng kapangyarihan ang mga pamunuan at mga kapamahalaan. Inilantad niya sila sa madla at inihayag niya ang kaniyang pagtatagumpay sa pamamagitan ng krus.

16 Kaya nga, huwag ninyong hayaan na hatulan kayo ng sinuman patungkol sa pagkain, o sa inumin, o patungkol sa pagdiriwang ng kapistahan, o sa bagong buwan o sa mga araw ng Sabat. 17 Ang mga ito ay isang anino lamang ng mga bagay na darating ngunit ang katunayan ay si Cristo. 18 May taong nasisiyahan sa paggawa ng huwad na pagpapakumbaba at pagsamba sa mga anghel. Huwag ninyong hayaan ang gayong tao na dayain kayo at hindi ninyo makuha ang inyong gantimpala. Siya ay nagkukunwaring nakakita ng mga bagay na hindi naman niya nakita. Ang kaniyang isipang makalaman ay nagpalaki ng kaniyang ulo nang walang katuturan. 19 Siya ay hindi nanatiling nakaugnay sa tunay na ulo, na kung saan ang buong katawan ay lumalago sa pamamagitan ng paglago na mula sa Diyos. Ito ay sa mga ibinibigay ng mga kasukasuan at ng mga litid na siyang nagpapalusog at nag-uugnay-ugnay sa buong katawan.

20 Kung kayo nga ay namatay na kasama ni Cristo mula sa mgaespiritwal na kapangyarihan ng sanlibutan, bakit kayo, na waring nabubuhay pa sa sanlibutan, ay nagpapasakop pa sa mga batas? 21 Ang mga ito ay: Huwag kang hahawak, huwag kang titikim, huwag kang hihipo. 22 Ang mga batas na ito ay tumutukoy sa mga bagay na masisira, kapag ang mga ito ay ginagamit. Ang mga ito ay ayon sa mga utos at sa mga aral ng mga tao. 23 Ang mga bagay na ito ay waring may karunungan sa kusang pagsamba at huwad na pagpapakumbaba at pagpapahirap ng katawan. Ngunit ang mga ito ay walang kapangyarihan laban sa kalayawan sa laman.

2 I want you to know how hard I am contending(A) for you and for those at Laodicea,(B) and for all who have not met me personally. 2 My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart(C) and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery(D) of God, namely, Christ, 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.(E) 4 I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments.(F) 5 For though I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit(G) and delight to see how disciplined(H) you are and how firm(I) your faith in Christ(J) is.

Spiritual Fullness in Christ

6 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord,(K) continue to live your lives in him, 7 rooted(L) and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught,(M) and overflowing with thankfulness.

8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy,(N) which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces[a] of this world(O) rather than on Christ.

9 For in Christ all the fullness(P) of the Deity lives in bodily form, 10 and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head(Q) over every power and authority.(R) 11 In him you were also circumcised(S) with a circumcision not performed by human hands. Your whole self ruled by the flesh[b](T) was put off when you were circumcised by[c] Christ, 12 having been buried with him in baptism,(U) in which you were also raised with him(V) through your faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.(W)

13 When you were dead in your sins(X) and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you[d] alive(Y) with Christ. He forgave us all our sins,(Z) 14 having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness,(AA) which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.(AB) 15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities,(AC) he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them(AD) by the cross.[e]

Freedom From Human Rules

16 Therefore do not let anyone judge you(AE) by what you eat or drink,(AF) or with regard to a religious festival,(AG) a New Moon celebration(AH) or a Sabbath day.(AI) 17 These are a shadow of the things that were to come;(AJ) the reality, however, is found in Christ. 18 Do not let anyone who delights in false humility(AK) and the worship of angels disqualify you.(AL) Such a person also goes into great detail about what they have seen; they are puffed up with idle notions by their unspiritual mind. 19 They have lost connection with the head,(AM) from whom the whole body,(AN) supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow.(AO)

20 Since you died with Christ(AP) to the elemental spiritual forces of this world,(AQ) why, as though you still belonged to the world, do you submit to its rules:(AR) 21 “Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!”? 22 These rules, which have to do with things that are all destined to perish(AS) with use, are based on merely human commands and teachings.(AT) 23 Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility(AU) and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence.
