6 Spune-ne, tu, cea mai frumoasă dintre femei,
unde a plecat iubitul tău?
Pe unde s-a întors iubitul tău,
ca să-l căutam şi noi împreună cu tine?
Sulamita
2 Iubitul meu a coborât în grădina lui,
la straturile de mirodenii,
ca să-şi păstorească turma în grădini
şi să culeagă crini.
3 Eu sunt a iubitului meu şi iubitul meu este al meu!
El îşi paşte turma printre crini.
Iubitul
4 Eşti frumoasă, draga mea, ca Tirţa,
încântătoare ca Ierusalimul,
straşnică, asemenea unei oştiri cu steaguri!
5 Întoarce-ţi ochii de la mine
fiindcă mă tulbură!
Părul tău este ca o turmă de capre
care coboară zbenguindu-se din Ghilad!
6 Dinţii tăi sunt asemenea unei turme de oi
care vine de la scăldătoare;
fiecare dintre ele are gemeni
şi nici una din ele nu este singură!
7 Tâmplele tale sunt ca nişte jumătăţi de rodie,
în spatele voalului!
8 Deşi am şaizeci de prinţese,
optzeci de ţiitoare
şi fecioare fără număr,
9 doar una este porumbiţa mea, desăvârşita mea,
singura fiică a mamei sale,
cea mai pură odraslă a celei ce a născut-o.
Fecioarele o privesc şi o binecuvântează,
prinţesele şi ţiitoarele o laudă.

10 Cine este aceasta care se iveşte asemenea zorilor,
frumoasă precum luna, pură precum soarele,
straşnică asemenea unei oştiri cu steaguri?

11 M-am coborât în grădina cu nuci
pentru a admira verdeaţa proaspătă din vale,
pentru a vedea dacă a înmugurit viţa
şi dacă a înflorit rodiul.
12 Înainte de a-mi da seama, inima m-a purtat
în carele poporului prinţului.[a]

to browse in the gardens
and to gather lilies.
3 I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine;(F)
he browses among the lilies.(G)

4 You are as beautiful as Tirzah,(H) my darling,
as lovely as Jerusalem,(I)
as majestic as troops with banners.(J)
5 Turn your eyes from me;
they overwhelm me.
Your hair is like a flock of goats
descending from Gilead.(K)
6 Your teeth are like a flock of sheep
coming up from the washing.
Each has its twin,
not one of them is missing.(L)
7 Your temples behind your veil(M)
are like the halves of a pomegranate.(N)
8 Sixty queens(O) there may be,
and eighty concubines,(P)
and virgins beyond number;
9 but my dove,(Q) my perfect one,(R) is unique,
the only daughter of her mother,
the favorite of the one who bore her.(S)
The young women saw her and called her blessed;
the queens and concubines praised her.

fair as the moon, bright as the sun,
majestic as the stars in procession?

11 I went down to the grove of nut trees
to look at the new growth in the valley,
to see if the vines had budded
or the pomegranates were in bloom.(T)
12 Before I realized it,
my desire set me among the royal chariots of my people.[a]
