Paul’s Defense before Felix

¹⁰ When the governor motioned for him to speak, Paul replied, “Because I know you have been a judge of this nation for many years, I am glad to offer my defense in what concerns me.^(A)

⁸ Then Paul made his defense: “Neither against the Jewish law,^(A) nor against the temple, nor against Caesar have I sinned in any way.”

¹⁶ I answered them that it is not the Roman custom to give someone up^[a] before the accused faces the accusers and has an opportunity for a defense against the charges.^(A)

Paul’s Defense before Agrippa

26 Agrippa said to Paul, “You have permission to speak for yourself.”

Then Paul stretched out his hand and began his defense:

¹⁶ At my first defense, no one stood by me, but everyone deserted me.^(A) May it not be counted against them.
