13 Когда Иеровоам стоял у жертвенника, чтобы возжечь кадильные благовония, из земель Иудеи в Вефиль, по слову Господа, пришел Божий человек. 2 Он крикнул жертвеннику по слову Господа:
– Жертвенник, жертвенник! Так говорит Господь: «Родится дому Давида сын по имени Иосия. На тебе принесет он в жертву тех самых жрецов святилищ[a], которые возжигают на тебе благовония, и сожжет на тебе человеческие кости»[b].
3 В тот же день Божий человек дал знамение:
– Вот знамение того, что это возвестил Господь: этот жертвенник расколется, а пепел на нем будет рассыпан.
4 Услышав, что Божий человек прокричал жертвеннику Вефиля, царь Иеровоам протянул руку от жертвенника и сказал:
– Возьмите его!
Но рука, которую он протянул к тому человеку, иссохла, и он не мог повернуть ее к себе. 5 А жертвенник раскололся, и пепел с него рассыпался, по знамению, что Божий человек дал по слову Господа.
6 Тогда царь сказал Божьему человеку:
– Умилостиви Господа, твоего Бога, и помолись за меня, чтобы моя рука выздоровела.
Божий человек умилостивил Господа, и рука царя выздоровела и стала, как прежде. 7 Царь сказал Божьему человеку:
– Пойдем ко мне в дом, подкрепись, а я одарю тебя.
8 Но Божий человек ответил царю:
– Даже если бы ты давал мне половину твоего добра, я не пошел бы с тобой и не стал бы ни есть здесь хлеба, ни пить воды. 9 Ведь словом Господа мне было велено: «Не ешь хлеба, не пей воды и не возвращайся тем путем, по которому идешь».
10 И он пошел другой дорогой, чтобы не возвращаться тем путем, по которому пришел в Вефиль.
Непослушание пророка
11 А в Вефиле жил один старый пророк, сыновья которого пришли и рассказали[c] ему обо всем, что совершил там в тот день Божий человек. Они передали отцу и то, что он сказал царю. 12 Отец спросил их:
– Какой дорогой он пошел?
И сыновья показали ему, какой дорогой пошел Божий человек из земель Иудеи. 13 Он сказал сыновьям:
– Оседлайте мне осла.
Когда они оседлали ему осла, он сел на него 14 и поехал за Божьим человеком. Он нашел его сидящим под дубом и спросил:
– Ты ли Божий человек, который пришел из земель Иудеи?
– Я, – ответил он.
15 Тогда пророк сказал ему:
– Пойдем ко мне в дом, поешь.
16 Он сказал:
– Я не могу вернуться с тобой и не могу здесь ни есть хлеба, ни пить воды. 17 Словом Господа мне было сказано: «Не ешь там хлеба, не пей воды и не возвращайся тем путем, по которому идешь туда».
18 Старый пророк ответил:
– Я такой же пророк, как и ты. Ангел сказал мне по слову Господа: «Верни его к себе домой, чтобы он поел хлеба и попил воды». (А это была ложь.)
19 И Божий человек возвратился с ним, ел и пил у него дома. 20 Пока они еще сидели за столом, к старому пророку, который возвратил его, было слово Господа. 21 Он закричал Божьему человеку, который пришел из земель Иудеи:
– Так говорит Господь: «Ты не послушался слова Господа и нарушил повеление, которое дал тебе Господь, твой Бог. 22 Ты вернулся, ел хлеб и пил воду там, где Он запретил тебе есть и пить. Поэтому твое тело не будет погребено в гробнице твоих отцов».
23 Когда Божий человек поел и попил, пророк, который возвратил его, оседлал для него осла. 24 Тот ушел, но по дороге на него напал лев и убил его. Его тело лежало брошенным на дороге, а возле него стояли осел и лев. 25 Люди, что проходили мимо, увидели лежащее тело и льва, стоящего возле тела. Они пошли и рассказали об этом в том городе, где жил старый пророк. 26 Когда пророк, который возвратил его с пути, услышал об этом, он сказал:
– Это тот Божий человек, который не послушался слова Господа. Господь отдал его льву, который растерзал и умертвил его, как Господь и говорил ему Своим словом.
27 Пророк сказал сыновьям:
– Оседлайте мне осла.
И они сделали это.
28 Он вышел и нашел тело, лежавшее на дороге, возле которого стояли осел и лев. Лев же не съел тела и не растерзал осла. 29 Пророк поднял тело Божьего человека, положил его на осла и привез обратно в город, чтобы оплакать и похоронить его. 30 Он положил тело в свою гробницу и оплакивал его, восклицая:
– О, мой брат!
31 Похоронив его, он сказал сыновьям:
– Когда я умру, похороните меня в гробнице, где погребен Божий человек; положите мои кости рядом с его костями[d]. 32 Ведь то, что он возвестил по слову Господа против жертвенника Вефиля и против всех святилищ на возвышенностях в городах Самарии, непременно исполнится.
Упорство Иеровоама
33 Но даже после этого Иеровоам не переменил своего злого пути и снова назначил священников из народа для святилищ на возвышенностях. Он посвящал в жрецы для святилищ на возвышенностях любого, кто хотел. 34 Таков был грех дома Иеровоама, который привел его к падению и к искоренению с лица земли.

King James Version
13 And, behold, there came a man of God out of Judah by the word of the Lord unto Bethel: and Jeroboam stood by the altar to burn incense.
2 And he cried against the altar in the word of the Lord, and said, O altar, altar, thus saith the Lord; Behold, a child shall be born unto the house of David, Josiah by name; and upon thee shall he offer the priests of the high places that burn incense upon thee, and men's bones shall be burnt upon thee.
3 And he gave a sign the same day, saying, This is the sign which the Lord hath spoken; Behold, the altar shall be rent, and the ashes that are upon it shall be poured out.
4 And it came to pass, when king Jeroboam heard the saying of the man of God, which had cried against the altar in Bethel, that he put forth his hand from the altar, saying, Lay hold on him. And his hand, which he put forth against him, dried up, so that he could not pull it in again to him.
5 The altar also was rent, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of the Lord.
6 And the king answered and said unto the man of God, Intreat now the face of the Lord thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again. And the man of God besought the Lord, and the king's hand was restored him again, and became as it was before.
7 And the king said unto the man of God, Come home with me, and refresh thyself, and I will give thee a reward.
8 And the man of God said unto the king, If thou wilt give me half thine house, I will not go in with thee, neither will I eat bread nor drink water in this place:
9 For so was it charged me by the word of the Lord, saying, Eat no bread, nor drink water, nor turn again by the same way that thou camest.
10 So he went another way, and returned not by the way that he came to Bethel.
11 Now there dwelt an old prophet in Bethel; and his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Bethel: the words which he had spoken unto the king, them they told also to their father.
12 And their father said unto them, What way went he? For his sons had seen what way the man of God went, which came from Judah.
13 And he said unto his sons, Saddle me the ass. So they saddled him the ass: and he rode thereon,
14 And went after the man of God, and found him sitting under an oak: and he said unto him, Art thou the man of God that camest from Judah? And he said, I am.
15 Then he said unto him, Come home with me, and eat bread.
16 And he said, I may not return with thee, nor go in with thee: neither will I eat bread nor drink water with thee in this place:
17 For it was said to me by the word of the Lord, Thou shalt eat no bread nor drink water there, nor turn again to go by the way that thou camest.
18 He said unto him, I am a prophet also as thou art; and an angel spake unto me by the word of the Lord, saying, Bring him back with thee into thine house, that he may eat bread and drink water. But he lied unto him.
19 So he went back with him, and did eat bread in his house, and drank water.
20 And it came to pass, as they sat at the table, that the word of the Lord came unto the prophet that brought him back:
21 And he cried unto the man of God that came from Judah, saying, Thus saith the Lord, Forasmuch as thou hast disobeyed the mouth of the Lord, and hast not kept the commandment which the Lord thy God commanded thee,
22 But camest back, and hast eaten bread and drunk water in the place, of the which the Lord did say to thee, Eat no bread, and drink no water; thy carcase shall not come unto the sepulchre of thy fathers.
23 And it came to pass, after he had eaten bread, and after he had drunk, that he saddled for him the ass, to wit, for the prophet whom he had brought back.
24 And when he was gone, a lion met him by the way, and slew him: and his carcase was cast in the way, and the ass stood by it, the lion also stood by the carcase.
25 And, behold, men passed by, and saw the carcase cast in the way, and the lion standing by the carcase: and they came and told it in the city where the old prophet dwelt.
26 And when the prophet that brought him back from the way heard thereof, he said, It is the man of God, who was disobedient unto the word of the Lord: therefore the Lord hath delivered him unto the lion, which hath torn him, and slain him, according to the word of the Lord, which he spake unto him.
27 And he spake to his sons, saying, Saddle me the ass. And they saddled him.
28 And he went and found his carcase cast in the way, and the ass and the lion standing by the carcase: the lion had not eaten the carcase, nor torn the ass.
29 And the prophet took up the carcase of the man of God, and laid it upon the ass, and brought it back: and the old prophet came to the city, to mourn and to bury him.
30 And he laid his carcase in his own grave; and they mourned over him, saying, Alas, my brother!
31 And it came to pass, after he had buried him, that he spake to his sons, saying, When I am dead, then bury me in the sepulchre wherein the man of God is buried; lay my bones beside his bones:
32 For the saying which he cried by the word of the Lord against the altar in Bethel, and against all the houses of the high places which are in the cities of Samaria, shall surely come to pass.
33 After this thing Jeroboam returned not from his evil way, but made again of the lowest of the people priests of the high places: whosoever would, he consecrated him, and he became one of the priests of the high places.
34 And this thing became sin unto the house of Jeroboam, even to cut it off, and to destroy it from off the face of the earth.

13 看哪，有一個神人遵照耶和華的話從猶大來到伯特利。耶羅波安正站在壇旁燒香； 2 神人遵照耶和華的話向壇呼叫，說：「壇哪，壇哪！耶和華如此說：『看哪，大衛家必生一個兒子，名叫約西亞，他必將在你上面燒香的丘壇祭司，宰殺在你上面，人的骨頭也必燒在你上面。』」 3 當日，神人設個預兆，說：「這是耶和華說的預兆：『看哪，這壇必破裂，壇上的灰必傾倒出來。』」 4 耶羅波安王聽見神人向伯特利的壇呼叫的話，就從壇上伸手，說：「拿住他！」王向神人所伸的手卻萎縮了，不能彎回。 5 壇也破裂了，壇上的灰傾倒出來，正如神人遵照耶和華的話所設的預兆。 6 王對神人說：「請你為我禱告，向耶和華—你的 神懇求恩惠，使我的手復原。」於是神人向耶和華懇求，王的手就復原了，如平常一樣。 7 王對神人說：「請你跟我回宮，讓你恢復心力，我必給你賞賜。」 8 神人對王說：「你就是把你一半的王宮給我，我也不跟你進去，也不在這地方吃飯喝水， 9 因為耶和華的話這樣吩咐我說：『不可吃飯喝水，也不可從你去的原路回來。』」 10 於是神人從別的路回去，不從他到伯特利來的原路回去。
伯特利的老先知
11 有一個老先知住在伯特利，他的兒子來，把神人當日在伯特利所做的一切事和他向王所說的話，都告訴了父親。 12 父親對他們說：「神人從哪條路去了呢？」他的兒子都看到[a]從猶大來的神人所去的路。 13 老先知吩咐兒子說：「你們為我備驢。」他們備好了驢，他就騎上， 14 去追神人，遇見神人坐在橡樹底下，就對他說：「你是不是從猶大來的神人？」他說：「是我。」 15 老先知對他說：「請你跟我一起回家吃飯。」 16 神人說：「我不能跟你回去，與你同行，也不能在這地方跟你一起吃飯喝水， 17 因為有耶和華的話吩咐我說：『你在那裏不可吃飯喝水，也不可從你去的原路回來。』」 18 老先知對他說：「我也是先知，和你一樣。有天使遵照耶和華的話對我說：『你去帶他一同回你的家，給他吃飯喝水。』」老先知在欺騙他。 19 於是神人跟老先知回去，在他家裏吃飯喝水。
20 他們坐席的時候，耶和華的話臨到那帶神人回來的先知， 21 他就對從猶大來的神人宣告說：「耶和華如此說：『你既違背耶和華的指示，不遵守耶和華—你 神的命令， 22 反倒回來，在耶和華禁止你吃飯喝水的地方吃了飯喝了水，因此你的屍體必不得葬在你祖先的墳墓裏。』」 23 神人吃喝完了，老先知為他帶回來的先知備驢。 24 神人就去了，在路上有隻獅子遇見他，把他咬死。他的屍體倒在路上，驢站在屍體旁邊，獅子也站在屍體旁邊。 25 看哪，有人經過，看見屍體倒在路上，獅子站在屍體旁邊，就來到老先知所住的城裏述說這事。
26 那帶神人回來的先知聽見了，就說：「這是那違背了耶和華指示的神人，所以耶和華把他交給獅子；獅子撕裂他，咬死他，正如耶和華對他說的話。」 27 老先知吩咐他兒子說：「你們為我備驢。」他們就備了驢。 28 他去了，發現神人的屍體倒在路上，驢和獅子站在屍體旁邊，獅子卻沒有吃屍體，也沒有撕裂驢。 29 老先知把神人的屍體抬起，馱在驢上，帶回自己的城裏，要為他哀哭，為他安葬。 30 老先知把屍體葬在自己的墳裏，為他哀哭，說：「哀哉！我的弟兄啊！」 31 安葬之後，老先知對他兒子說：「我死了，你們要把我葬在神人所葬的墳裏，使我的屍骨在他的屍骨旁邊， 32 因為他遵照耶和華的話，指着伯特利的壇和撒瑪利亞各城丘壇神殿所宣告的話必定應驗。」
耶羅波安的嚴重罪行
33 這事以後，耶羅波安仍不離開他的惡道，立平民百姓為丘壇的祭司；凡願意的，他都分別為聖，立為丘壇的祭司。 34 這事使耶羅波安的家陷入罪裏，甚至他的家被剪除，從地面上消滅了。
