1 Símon Pétur, þjónn og postuli Jesú Krists, heilsar þeim, sem hlotið hafa hina sömu dýrmætu trú og vér fyrir réttlæti Guðs vors og frelsara vors Jesú Krists.
2 Náð og friður margfaldist yður til handa með þekkingu á Guði og Jesú, Drottni vorum.
3 Hans guðdómlegi máttur hefur veitt oss allt, sem leiðir til lífs og guðrækni með þekkingunni á honum, sem kallaði oss með sinni eigin dýrð og dáð.
4 Með því hefur hann veitt oss hin dýrmætu og háleitu fyrirheit, til þess að þér fyrir þau skylduð verða hluttakendur í guðlegu eðli, er þér hafið komist undan spillingunni í heiminum, sem girndin veldur.
5 Leggið þess vegna alla stund á að auðsýna í trú yðar dyggð, í dyggðinni þekkingu,
6 í þekkingunni sjálfsögun, í sjálfsöguninni þolgæði, í þolgæðinu guðrækni,
7 í guðrækninni bróðurelsku og í bróðurelskunni kærleika.
8 Því ef þér hafið þetta til að bera og farið vaxandi í því, munuð þér ekki verða iðjulausir né ávaxtalausir í þekkingunni á Drottni vorum Jesú Kristi.
9 En sá, sem ekki hefur þetta til að bera, er blindur í skammsýni sinni og hefur gleymt hreinsun fyrri synda sinna.
10 Kostið þess vegna því fremur kapps um, bræður, að gjöra köllun yðar og útvalning vissa. Ef þér gjörið þetta, munuð þér aldrei hrasa.
11 Á þann hátt mun yður ríkulega veitast inngangur í hið eilífa ríki Drottins vors og frelsara Jesú Krists.
12 Þess vegna ætla ég mér ávallt að minna yður á þetta, enda þótt þér vitið það og séuð staðfastir orðnir í þeim sannleika, sem þér nú hafið öðlast.
13 Ég álít mér líka skylt, á meðan ég er í þessari tjaldbúð, að halda yður vakandi með því að rifja þetta upp fyrir yður.
14 Ég veit, að þess mun skammt að bíða, að tjaldbúð minni verði svipt. Það hefur Drottinn vor Jesús Kristur birt mér.
15 Og ég vil einnig leggja kapp á, að þér ætíð eftir burtför mína getið minnst þessa.

17 Því að hann meðtók af Guði föður heiður og dýrð, þá er raust barst honum frá hinni dýrlegu hátign: "Þessi er minn elskaði sonur, sem ég hef velþóknun á."
18 Þessa raust heyrðum vér sjálfir, koma frá himni, þá er vér vorum með honum á fjallinu helga.
19 Enn þá áreiðanlegra er oss því nú hið spámannlega orð. Og það er rétt af yður að gefa gaum að því eins og ljósi, sem skín á myrkum stað, þangað til dagur ljómar og morgunstjarna rennur upp í hjörtum yðar.
20 Vitið það umfram allt, að enginn þýðir neinn spádóm Ritningarinnar af sjálfum sér.
21 Því að aldrei var nokkur spádómur borinn fram að vilja manns, heldur töluðu menn orð frá Guði, knúðir af heilögum anda.
2 En falsspámenn komu einnig upp meðal lýðsins. Eins munu falskennendur líka verða á meðal yðar, er smeygja munu inn háskalegum villukenningum og jafnvel afneita herra sínum, sem keypti þá, og leiða yfir sig sjálfa bráða glötun.
2 Margir munu fylgja ólifnaði þeirra, og sakir þeirra mun vegi sannleikans verða hallmælt.
3 Af ágirnd munu þeir með uppspunnum orðum hafa yður að féþúfu. En dómurinn yfir þeim er löngu felldur og fyrnist ekki og glötun þeirra blundar ekki.
4 Ekki þyrmdi Guð englunum, er þeir syndguðu. Hann steypti þeim niður í undirdjúpin og setti þá í myrkrahella, þar sem þeir eru geymdir til dómsins.
5 Ekki þyrmdi hann hinum forna heimi, en varðveitti Nóa, prédikara réttlætisins, við áttunda mann, er hann lét vatnsflóð koma yfir heim hinna óguðlegu.
6 Hann brenndi borgirnar Sódómu og Gómorru til ösku og dæmdi þær til eyðingar og setti þær til viðvörunar þeim, er síðar lifðu óguðlega.
7 En hann frelsaði Lot, hinn réttláta mann, er mæddist af svívirðilegum lifnaði hinna guðlausu.
8 Sá réttláti maður bjó á meðal þeirra og mæddist í sinni réttlátu sálu dag frá degi af þeim ólöglegu verkum, er hann sá og heyrði.
9 Þannig veit Drottinn, hvernig hann á að hrífa hina guðhræddu úr freistingu, en refsa hinum ranglátu og geyma þá til dómsdags,
10 einkum þá, sem í breytni sinni stjórnast af saurlífisfýsn og fyrirlíta drottinvald. Þessir fífldjörfu sjálfbirgingar skirrast ekki við að lastmæla tignum.
11 Jafnvel englarnir, sem eru þeim meiri að mætti og valdi, fara ekki með guðlast, þegar þeir ákæra þá hjá Drottni.
12 Þessir menn eru eins og skynlausar skepnur, sem eru fæddar til að veiðast og tortímast. Þeir lastmæla því, sem þeir þekkja ekki, og munu þess vegna í spillingu sinni undir lok líða
13 og bera þannig úr býtum laun ranglætis. Þeir hafa yndi af að svalla um miðjan dag. Þeir eru skömm og smán, þegar þeir neyta máltíða með yður og svalla.
14 Augu þeirra eru full hórdóms, og þeim verður ekki frá syndinni haldið. Þeir fleka óstyrkar sálir, hjarta þeirra hefur tamið sér ágirnd. Það er bölvun yfir þeim.
15 Þeir hafa farið af rétta veginum og lent í villu. Þeir fara sömu leið og Bíleam, sonur Bósors, sem elskaði ranglætislaun.
16 En hann fékk ádrepu fyrir glæp sinn. Mállaus eykurinn talaði mannamál og aftraði fásinnu spámannsins.
17 Vatnslausir brunnar eru þessir menn, þoka hrakin af hvassviðri, þeirra bíður dýpsta myrkur.
18 Þeir láta klingja drembileg hégómaorð og tæla með holdlegum girndum og svívirðilegum lifnaði þá, sem fyrir skömmu hafa sloppið frá þeim, sem ganga í villu.
19 Þeir heita þeim frelsi, þótt þeir séu sjálfir þrælar spillingarinnar, því að sérhver verður þræll þess, sem hann hefur beðið ósigur fyrir.
20 Ef þeir, sem fyrir þekkingu á Drottni vorum og frelsara Jesú Kristi voru sloppnir frá saurgun heimsins, flækja sig í honum að nýju og bíða ósigur, þá er hið síðara orðið þeim verra en hið fyrra.
21 Því að betra hefði þeim verið að hafa ekki þekkt veg réttlætisins en að hafa þekkt hann og snúa síðan aftur frá hinu heilaga boðorði, sem þeim hafði verið gefið.
22 Fram á þeim hefur komið þetta sannmæli: "Hundur snýr aftur til spýju sinnar," og: "Þvegið svín veltir sér í sama saur."
3 Þetta er nú annað bréfið, sem ég skrifa yður, þér elskaðir, og í þeim báðum hef ég reynt að halda hinu hreina hugarfari vakandi hjá yður.
2 Það reyni ég með því að rifja upp fyrir yður þau orð, sem hinir heilögu spámenn hafa áður talað, og boðorð Drottins vors og frelsara, er postular yðar hafa flutt.
3 Þetta skuluð þér þá fyrst vita, að á hinum síðustu dögum munu koma spottarar er stjórnast af eigin girndum
4 og segja með spotti: "Hvað verður úr fyrirheitinu um komu hans? Því að frá því feðurnir sofnuðu stendur allt við sama eins og frá upphafi veraldar."
5 Viljandi gleyma þeir því, að himnar voru til forðum og jörð til orðin af vatni og upp úr vatni fyrir orð Guðs.
6 Þess vegna gekk vatnsflóðið yfir þann heim, sem þá var, svo að hann fórst.
7 En þeir himnar, sem nú eru ásamt jörðinni, geymast eldinum fyrir hið sama orð og varðveitast til þess dags, er óguðlegir menn munu dæmdir verða og tortímast.
8 En þetta eitt má yður ekki gleymast, þér elskuðu, að einn dagur er hjá Drottni sem þúsund ár og þúsund ár sem einn dagur.
9 Ekki er Drottinn seinn á sér með fyrirheitið, þótt sumir álíti það seinlæti, heldur er hann langlyndur við yður, þar eð hann vill ekki að neinir glatist, heldur að allir komist til iðrunar.
10 En dagur Drottins mun koma sem þjófur, og þá munu himnarnir með miklum gný líða undir lok, frumefnin sundurleysast í brennandi hita og jörðin og þau verk, sem á henni eru, upp brenna.
11 Þar eð allt þetta ferst þannig, hversu ber yður þá ekki að ganga fram í heilagri breytni og guðrækni,
12 þannig að þér væntið eftir og flýtið fyrir komu Guðs dags, en vegna hans munu himnarnir leysast sundur í eldi og frumefnin bráðna af brennandi hita.
13 En eftir fyrirheiti hans væntum vér nýs himins og nýrrar jarðar, þar sem réttlæti býr.
14 Með því að þér nú, þér elskuðu, væntið slíkra hluta, þá kappkostið að vera flekklausir og lýtalausir frammi fyrir honum í friði.
15 Álítið langlyndi Drottins vors vera hjálpræði. Þetta er það, sem hinn elskaði bróðir vor, Páll, hefur ritað yður, eftir þeirri speki, sem honum er gefin.
16 Það gjörir hann líka í öllum bréfum sínum, hann talar í þeim um þetta. En í þeim er sumt þungskilið, er fáfróðir og staðfestulausir menn rangsnúa, eins og öðrum ritum, sjálfum sér til tortímingar.

1 Simon Peter, a servant(A) and apostle of Jesus Christ,(B)
To those who through the righteousness(C) of our God and Savior Jesus Christ(D) have received a faith as precious as ours:
2 Grace and peace be yours in abundance(E) through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.(F)
Confirming One’s Calling and Election
3 His divine power(G) has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him(H) who called us(I) by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises,(J) so that through them you may participate in the divine nature,(K) having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.(L)
5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge;(M) 6 and to knowledge, self-control;(N) and to self-control, perseverance;(O) and to perseverance, godliness;(P) 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.(Q) 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive(R) in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.(S) 9 But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind,(T) forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.(U)
10 Therefore, my brothers and sisters,[a] make every effort to confirm your calling(V) and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble,(W) 11 and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom(X) of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.(Y)
Prophecy of Scripture
12 So I will always remind you of these things,(Z) even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth(AA) you now have. 13 I think it is right to refresh your memory(AB) as long as I live in the tent of this body,(AC) 14 because I know that I will soon put it aside,(AD) as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me.(AE) 15 And I will make every effort to see that after my departure(AF) you will always be able to remember these things.
16 For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power,(AG) but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.(AH) 17 He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”[b](AI) 18 We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain.(AJ)
19 We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable,(AK) and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light(AL) shining in a dark place, until the day dawns(AM) and the morning star(AN) rises in your hearts.(AO) 20 Above all, you must understand(AP) that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God(AQ) as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.(AR)
False Teachers and Their Destruction
2 But there were also false prophets(AS) among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you.(AT) They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord(AU) who bought them(AV)—bringing swift destruction on themselves. 2 Many will follow their depraved conduct(AW) and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. 3 In their greed(AX) these teachers will exploit you(AY) with fabricated stories. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.
4 For if God did not spare angels when they sinned,(AZ) but sent them to hell,[c] putting them in chains of darkness[d] to be held for judgment;(BA) 5 if he did not spare the ancient world(BB) when he brought the flood on its ungodly people,(BC) but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others;(BD) 6 if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes,(BE) and made them an example(BF) of what is going to happen to the ungodly;(BG) 7 and if he rescued Lot,(BH) a righteous man, who was distressed by the depraved conduct of the lawless(BI) 8 (for that righteous man,(BJ) living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)— 9 if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials(BK) and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment.(BL) 10 This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire(BM) of the flesh[e] and despise authority.
Bold and arrogant, they are not afraid to heap abuse on celestial beings;(BN) 11 yet even angels, although they are stronger and more powerful, do not heap abuse on such beings when bringing judgment on them from[f] the Lord.(BO) 12 But these people blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like unreasoning animals, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed, and like animals they too will perish.(BP)
13 They will be paid back with harm for the harm they have done. Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight.(BQ) They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their pleasures while they feast with you.[g](BR) 14 With eyes full of adultery, they never stop sinning; they seduce(BS) the unstable;(BT) they are experts in greed(BU)—an accursed brood!(BV) 15 They have left the straight way and wandered off to follow the way of Balaam(BW) son of Bezer,[h] who loved the wages of wickedness. 16 But he was rebuked for his wrongdoing by a donkey—an animal without speech—who spoke with a human voice and restrained the prophet’s madness.(BX)
17 These people are springs without water(BY) and mists driven by a storm. Blackest darkness is reserved for them.(BZ) 18 For they mouth empty, boastful words(CA) and, by appealing to the lustful desires of the flesh, they entice people who are just escaping(CB) from those who live in error. 19 They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity—for “people are slaves to whatever has mastered them.”(CC) 20 If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing(CD) our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ(CE) and are again entangled in it and are overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning.(CF) 21 It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them.(CG) 22 Of them the proverbs are true: “A dog returns to its vomit,”[i](CH) and, “A sow that is washed returns to her wallowing in the mud.”
The Day of the Lord
3 Dear friends,(CI) this is now my second letter to you. I have written both of them as reminders(CJ) to stimulate you to wholesome thinking. 2 I want you to recall the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets(CK) and the command given by our Lord and Savior through your apostles.(CL)
3 Above all, you must understand that in the last days(CM) scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires.(CN) 4 They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised?(CO) Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.”(CP) 5 But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word(CQ) the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water.(CR) 6 By these waters also the world of that time(CS) was deluged and destroyed.(CT) 7 By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire,(CU) being kept for the day of judgment(CV) and destruction of the ungodly.
8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.(CW) 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise,(CX) as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient(CY) with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.(CZ)
10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief.(DA) The heavens will disappear with a roar;(DB) the elements will be destroyed by fire,(DC) and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare.[j](DD)
11 Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives 12 as you look forward(DE) to the day of God and speed its coming.[k](DF) That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat.(DG) 13 But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth,(DH) where righteousness dwells.
14 So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless(DI) and at peace with him. 15 Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience(DJ) means salvation,(DK) just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him.(DL) 16 He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable(DM) people distort,(DN) as they do the other Scriptures,(DO) to their own destruction.
17 Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard(DP) so that you may not be carried away by the error(DQ) of the lawless(DR) and fall from your secure position.(DS) 18 But grow in the grace(DT) and knowledge(DU) of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.(DV) To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.(DW)

1 Júdas, þjónn Jesú Krists, bróðir Jakobs, heilsar hinum kölluðu, sem eru elskaðir af Guði föður og varðveittir Jesú Kristi.
2 Miskunn, friður og kærleiki margfaldist yður til handa.
3 Þér elskaðir, mér var það ríkt í huga að rita yður um sameiginlegt hjálpræði vort. En nú kemst ég ekki hjá því að skrifa og hvetja yður til að berjast fyrir þeirri trú, sem heilögum hefur í eitt skipti fyrir öll verið í hendur seld.
4 Því að inn hafa læðst nokkrir menn, sem fyrir löngu var ritað um að þessi dómur biði þeirra. Þeir eru óguðlegir menn, sem misnota náð Guðs vors til taumleysis og afneita vorum einasta lávarði og Drottni, Jesú Kristi.
5 Ég vil minna yður á, þótt þér nú einu sinni vitið það allt, að Drottinn frelsaði lýðinn úr Egyptalandi, en tortímdi samt síðar þeim, sem ekki trúðu.
6 Og englana, sem ekki gættu tignar sinnar, heldur yfirgáfu eigin bústað, hefur hann í myrkri geymt í ævarandi fjötrum til dóms hins mikla dags.
7 Eins og Sódóma og Gómorra og borgirnar umhverfis þær, sem drýgt höfðu saurlifnað á líkan hátt og þeir og stunduðu óleyfilegar lystisemdir, þær liggja fyrir sem dæmi, líðandi hegningu eilífs elds.
8 Á sama hátt saurga og þessir draumvilltu menn líkamann, meta að engu drottinvald og lastmæla tignum.
9 Eigi dirfðist einu sinni höfuðengillinn Míkael að leggja lastmælisdóm á djöfulinn, er hann átti í orðadeilu við hann um líkama Móse, heldur sagði: "Drottinn refsi þér!"
10 En þessir menn lastmæla öllu því, sem þeir þekkja ekki, en spilla sér á því sem þeir skilja af eðlisávísun eins og skynlausar skepnur.
11 Vei þeim, því að þeir hafa gengið á vegi Kains og hrapað í villu Bíleams fyrir ávinnings sakir og tortímst í þverúð Kóra.
12 Þessir menn eru blindsker við kærleiksmáltíðir yðar, er þeir sitja að veislum með yður og háma í sig blygðunarlaust. Þeir eru vatnslaus ský, sem rekast fyrir vindum, tré, sem bera ekki ávöxt að hausti, tvisvar dauð og rifin upp með rótum.
13 Þeir eru ofsalegar hafsbylgjur, sem freyða eigin skömmum, reikandi stjörnur, sem eiga dýpsta myrkur í vændum til eilífðar.
14 Um þessa menn spáði líka Enok, sjöundi maður frá Adam, er hann segir: "Sjá, Drottinn er kominn með sínum þúsundum heilagra
15 til að halda dóm yfir öllum og til að sanna alla óguðlega menn seka um öll þau óguðlegu verk, sem þeir hafa drýgt, og um öll þau hörðu orð, sem óguðlegir syndarar hafa talað gegn honum."
16 Þessir menn eru möglarar, umkvörtunarsamir og lifa eftir girndum sínum. Munnur þeirra mælir ofstopaorð og þeir meta menn eftir hagnaði.
17 En, þér elskaðir, minnist þeirra orða, sem áður hafa töluð verið af postulum Drottins vors Jesú Krists.
18 Þeir sögðu við yður: "Á síðasta tíma munu koma spottarar, sem stjórnast af sínum eigin óguðlegu girndum."
19 Þessir menn eru þeir, sem valda sundrungu, holdlegir menn, sem eigi hafa andann.
20 En þér, elskaðir, byggið yður sjálfa upp í yðar helgustu trú. Biðjið í heilögum anda.
21 Varðveitið sjálfa yður í kærleika Guðs, og bíðið eftir náð Drottins vors Jesú Krists til eilífs lífs.
22 Verið mildir við suma, þá sem eru efablandnir,
23 suma skuluð þér frelsa, með því að hrífa þá út úr eldinum. Og suma skuluð þér vera mildir við með ótta, og hatið jafnvel kyrtilinn, sem flekkaður er af holdinu.
24 En honum, sem megnar að varðveita yður frá hrösun og láta yður koma fram fyrir dýrð sína, lýtalausa í fögnuði,

The Sin and Doom of Ungodly People
3 Dear friends,(G) although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share,(H) I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend(I) for the faith(J) that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people.(K) 4 For certain individuals whose condemnation was written about[b] long ago have secretly slipped in among you.(L) They are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.(M)
5 Though you already know all this,(N) I want to remind you(O) that the Lord[c] at one time delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe.(P) 6 And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their proper dwelling—these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day.(Q) 7 In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah(R) and the surrounding towns(S) gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.(T)
8 In the very same way, on the strength of their dreams these ungodly people pollute their own bodies, reject authority and heap abuse on celestial beings.(U) 9 But even the archangel(V) Michael,(W) when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses,(X) did not himself dare to condemn him for slander but said, “The Lord rebuke you!”[d](Y) 10 Yet these people slander whatever they do not understand, and the very things they do understand by instinct—as irrational animals do—will destroy them.(Z)
11 Woe to them! They have taken the way of Cain;(AA) they have rushed for profit into Balaam’s error;(AB) they have been destroyed in Korah’s rebellion.(AC)
12 These people are blemishes at your love feasts,(AD) eating with you without the slightest qualm—shepherds who feed only themselves.(AE) They are clouds without rain,(AF) blown along by the wind;(AG) autumn trees, without fruit and uprooted(AH)—twice dead. 13 They are wild waves of the sea,(AI) foaming up their shame;(AJ) wandering stars, for whom blackest darkness has been reserved forever.(AK)
14 Enoch,(AL) the seventh from Adam, prophesied about them: “See, the Lord is coming(AM) with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones(AN) 15 to judge(AO) everyone, and to convict all of them of all the ungodly acts they have committed in their ungodliness, and of all the defiant words ungodly sinners have spoken against him.”[e](AP) 16 These people are grumblers(AQ) and faultfinders; they follow their own evil desires;(AR) they boast(AS) about themselves and flatter others for their own advantage.
A Call to Persevere
17 But, dear friends, remember what the apostles(AT) of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold.(AU) 18 They said to you, “In the last times(AV) there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.”(AW) 19 These are the people who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.(AX)
20 But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up(AY) in your most holy faith(AZ) and praying in the Holy Spirit,(BA) 21 keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait(BB) for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.(BC)
22 Be merciful to those who doubt; 23 save others by snatching them from the fire;(BD) to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.[f](BE)
Doxology
24 To him who is able(BF) to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence(BG) without fault(BH) and with great joy— 25 to the only God(BI) our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore!(BJ) Amen.(BK)
