²³ Who is like your people, like Israel? Is there another^[a] nation on earth whose God went to redeem it as a people, and to make a name for himself, doing great and awesome things for them,^[b] by driving out^[c] before his people nations and their gods?^[d]

¹⁴ He it is who gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all iniquity and purify for himself a people of his own who are zealous for good deeds.

⁹ But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people,^[a] in order that you may proclaim the mighty acts of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.
