31 Sedan sa David till Joav och alla dem som var med honom: ”Riv sönder era kläder! Ta på er säckkläder och gå framför Avners bår och håll dödsklagan!” Kung David följde också efter båren.
32 De begravde Avner i Hebron och kungen och allt folket grät och sörjde.
33 Kungen sjöng också en klagosång:
”Varför måste Avner dö som en laglös?

New International Version
31 Then David said to Joab and all the people with him, “Tear your clothes and put on sackcloth(A) and walk in mourning(B) in front of Abner.” King David himself walked behind the bier. 32 They buried Abner in Hebron, and the king wept(C) aloud at Abner’s tomb. All the people wept also.
33 The king sang this lament(D) for Abner:
“Should Abner have died as the lawless die?

31 And David said to Joab, and to all the people that were with him, Rend your clothes, and gird you with sackcloth, and mourn before Abner. And king David himself followed the bier.
32 And they buried Abner in Hebron: and the king lifted up his voice, and wept at the grave of Abner; and all the people wept.
33 And the king lamented over Abner, and said, Died Abner as a fool dieth?
