9 David a zis: „A mai rămas cineva din casa lui Saul, ca să-i fac bine(A) din pricina lui Ionatan?” 2 Era un slujitor din casa lui Saul, numit Ţiba(B), pe care l-au adus la David. Împăratul i-a zis: „Tu eşti Ţiba?” Şi el a răspuns: „Robul tău, da!” 3 Împăratul a zis: „Nu mai este nimeni din casa lui Saul, ca să mă port cu el cu o bunătate ca bunătatea(C) lui Dumnezeu?” Şi Ţiba a răspuns împăratului: „Mai este un fiu al lui Ionatan, olog(D) de picioare”. 4 Împăratul a zis: „Unde este?” Şi Ţiba a răspuns împăratului: „Este în casa lui Machir(E), fiul lui Amiel, la Lodebar”. 5 Împăratul David l-a trimis să-l ia din casa lui Machir, fiul lui Amiel, din Lodebar. 6 Şi Mefiboşet, fiul lui Ionatan, fiul lui Saul, a venit la David, a căzut cu faţa la pământ şi s-a închinat. David a zis: „Mefiboşet!” Şi el a răspuns: „Iată robul tău!” 7 David i-a zis: „Nu te teme, căci vreau să-ţi fac bine(F) din pricina tatălui tău Ionatan. Îţi voi da înapoi toate pământurile tatălui tău, Saul, şi vei mânca totdeauna la masa mea”. 8 El s-a închinat şi a zis: „Cine este robul tău, ca să te uiţi la un câine mort(G) ca mine?” 9 Împăratul a chemat pe Ţiba, slujbaşul lui Saul, şi i-a zis: „Dau fiului stăpânului tău tot ce(H) era al lui Saul şi tot ce avea toată casa lui. 10 Tu să lucrezi pământurile pentru el, tu, fiii tăi şi robii tăi, şi să strângi roadele, ca fiul stăpânului tău să aibă pâine de mâncare, şi Mefiboşet, fiul stăpânului tău, va mânca(I) totdeauna la masa mea”. Şi Ţiba avea cincisprezece fii şi douăzeci de robi. 11 El a zis împăratului: „Robul tău va face tot ce porunceşte împăratul, domnul meu, robului său”. Şi Mefiboşet a mâncat la masa lui David, ca unul din fiii împăratului. 12 Mefiboşet avea un fiu mic, numit(J) Mica, şi toţi cei ce locuiau în casa lui Ţiba erau robii lui Mefiboşet. 13 Mefiboşet locuia la Ierusalim, căci mânca(K) totdeauna la masa împăratului. El era olog(L) de amândouă picioarele.

9 Davide disse: «E' forse rimasto qualcuno della casa di Saul, a cui io possa fare del bene a causa di Giònata?». 2 Ora vi era un servo della casa di Saul, chiamato Zibà, che fu fatto venire presso Davide. Il re gli chiese: «Sei tu Zibà?». Quegli rispose: «Sì». 3 Il re gli disse: «Non c'è più nessuno della casa di Saul, a cui io possa usare la misericordia di Dio?». Zibà rispose al re: «Vi è ancora un figlio di Giònata storpio dei piedi». 4 Il re gli disse: «Dov'è?». Zibà rispose al re: «E' in casa di Machìr figlio di Ammièl a Lodebàr». 5 Allora il re lo mandò a prendere in casa di Machìr figlio di Ammièl a Lodebàr. 6 Merib-Bàal figlio di Giònata, figlio di Saul, venne da Davide, si gettò con la faccia a terra e si prostrò davanti a lui. Davide disse: «Merib-Bàal!». Rispose: 7 «Ecco il tuo servo!». Davide gli disse: «Non temere, perché voglio trattarti con bontà per amore di Giònata tuo padre e ti restituisco tutti i campi di Saul tuo avo e tu mangerai sempre alla mia tavola». 8 Merib-Bàal si prostrò e disse: «Che cos'è il tuo servo, perché tu prenda in considerazione un cane morto come sono io?». 9 Allora il re chiamò Zibà servo di Saul e gli disse: «Quanto apparteneva a Saul e a tutta la sua casa, io lo dò al figlio del tuo Signore. 10 Tu dunque con i figli e gli schiavi lavorerai per lui la terra e ne raccoglierai i prodotti, perché abbia pane e nutrimento la casa del tuo signore; quanto a Merib-Bàal figlio del tuo signore, mangerà sempre alla mia tavola». Ora Zibà aveva quindici figli e venti schiavi. 11 Zibà disse al re: «Il tuo servo farà quanto il re mio signore ordina al suo servo». Merib-Bàal dunque mangiava alla tavola di Davide come uno dei figli del re. 12 Merib-Bàal aveva un figlioletto chiamato Micà; tutti quelli che stavano in casa di Zibà erano al servizio di Merib-Bàal.

David’s Kindness to Mephibosheth
9 Now David said, “Is there still anyone who is left of the house of Saul, that I may (A)show him [a]kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”
2 And there was a servant of the house of Saul whose name was (B)Ziba. So when they had called him to David, the king said to him, “Are you Ziba?”
He said, “At your service!”
3 Then the king said, “Is there not still someone of the house of Saul, to whom I may show (C)the kindness of God?”
And Ziba said to the king, “There is still a son of Jonathan who is (D)lame in his feet.”
4 So the king said to him, “Where is he?”
And Ziba said to the king, “Indeed he is in the house of (E)Machir the son of Ammiel, in Lo Debar.”
5 Then King David sent and brought him out of the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, from Lo Debar.
6 Now when (F)Mephibosheth[b] the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, had come to David, he fell on his face and prostrated himself. Then David said, “Mephibosheth?”
And he answered, “Here is your servant!”
7 So David said to him, “Do not fear, for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your grandfather; and you shall eat bread at my table continually.”
8 Then he bowed himself, and said, “What is your servant, that you should look upon such (G)a dead dog as I?”
9 And the king called to Ziba, Saul’s servant, and said to him, (H)“I have given to your master’s son all that belonged to Saul and to all his house. 10 You therefore, and your sons and your servants, shall work the land for him, and you shall bring in the harvest, that your master’s son may have food to eat. But Mephibosheth your master’s son (I)shall eat bread at my table always.” Now Ziba had (J)fifteen sons and twenty servants.
11 Then Ziba said to the king, “According to all that my lord the king has commanded his servant, so will your servant do.”
“As for Mephibosheth,” said the king, “he shall eat at [c]my table like one of the king’s sons.” 12 Mephibosheth had a young son (K)whose name was Micha. And all who dwelt in the house of Ziba were servants of Mephibosheth. 13 So Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem, (L)for he ate continually at the king’s table. And he (M)was lame in both his feet.
