10 He put the rest of the men under the command of Abishai(A) his brother and deployed them against the Ammonites. 11 Joab said, “If the Arameans are too strong for me, then you are to come to my rescue; but if the Ammonites are too strong for you, then I will come to rescue you. 12 Be strong,(B) and let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God. The Lord will do what is good in his sight.”(C)

10 He put his brother Abishai in charge of the rest of the army[a] and they were deployed[b] against the Ammonites. 11 Joab[c] said, “If the Arameans start to overpower me,[d] you come to my rescue. If the Ammonites start to overpower you,[e] I will come to your rescue. 12 Be strong! Let’s fight bravely for the sake of our people and the cities of our God! The Lord will do what he decides is best!”[f]

12 Be of good courage, and let us play the men for our people, and for the cities of our God: and the Lord do that which seemeth him good.
