12 And they mourned and wept and (A)fasted until evening for Saul and his son Jonathan, and for the people of the Lord and the house of Israel, because they had fallen by the sword. 13 Then David said to the young man who informed him, “Where are you from?” And he [a]answered, “(B)I am the son of a stranger, an Amalekite.” 14 And David said to him, “How is it you were not afraid (C)to reach out with your hand to destroy the Lord’s anointed?”

13 David said to the young man who brought him the report, “Where are you from?”
“I am the son of a foreigner, an Amalekite,(A)” he answered.
14 David asked him, “Why weren’t you afraid to lift your hand to destroy the Lord’s anointed?(B)”
