⁷ The king of Egypt^(A) did not march out from his own country again, because the king of Babylon^(B) had taken all his territory, from the Wadi of Egypt to the Euphrates River.

¹³ This is the message the Lord spoke to Jeremiah the prophet about the coming of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon^(A) to attack Egypt:^(B)

²⁵ The Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: “I am about to bring punishment on Amon god of Thebes,^(A) on Pharaoh,^(B) on Egypt and her gods^(C) and her kings, and on those who rely^(D) on Pharaoh. ²⁶ I will give them into the hands^(E) of those who want to kill them—Nebuchadnezzar king^(F) of Babylon and his officers. Later, however, Egypt will be inhabited^(G) as in times past,” declares the Lord.

¹⁹ Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am going to give Egypt to Nebuchadnezzar king^(A) of Babylon, and he will carry off its wealth. He will loot and plunder^(B) the land as pay for his army.^{(C) 20} I have given him Egypt^(D) as a reward for his efforts because he and his army did it for me, declares the Sovereign Lord.^(E)
