Palabra de Dios para Todos

9 En realidad no necesito escribirles acerca de la ayuda para el pueblo de Dios, 2 porque sé que ustedes quieren ayudar. He estado hablando bien de ustedes por toda Macedonia y les he dicho que ustedes, los que viven en Acaya, han estado preparados para colaborar desde hace un año. Gracias a su buena voluntad de ayudar, casi todos aquí también quieren colaborar. 3 Les envío a los hermanos porque no quiero que todo lo bien que he hablado de ustedes sea en vano. Quiero que ustedes estén preparados como les dije a ellos que estarían. 4 Si algunos de Macedonia vienen conmigo y resulta que ustedes no están preparados, sería una vergüenza para nosotros por haber confiado tanto en ustedes, por no mencionar la vergüenza que sería para ustedes mismos. 5 Por eso me pareció necesario pedirles a los hermanos que fueran a verlos para que antes de que lleguemos se aseguraran de tener lista la ofrenda que prometieron. Eso hará que sea una ofrenda hecha voluntariamente y no por obligación.

Seamos generosos

6 Recuerden esto: el que siembra poco, cosecha poco, pero el que siembra mucho, cosecha mucho. 7 Cada uno debe dar lo que en su corazón ha decidido dar y no lo haga con tristeza ni por obligación. Dios ama a los que dan con alegría. 8 Dios tiene el poder de darles más bendiciones de las que necesitan para que siempre tengan lo suficiente para ustedes y también para que puedan ayudar generosamente a toda buena causa. 9 (A)Así como está escrito:

«El justo siembra sus bienes, da a los pobres.
    Nunca deja de hacer lo que es justo».[a]

10 Dios es quien da la semilla al que siembra y el pan al que se alimenta. De igual manera, les dará a ustedes muchas semillas y las hará crecer para hacer una gran cosecha de justicia de ustedes. 11 Ustedes tendrán toda clase de riquezas para que puedan ser generosos. La ofrenda que ustedes envíen con nosotros, motivará a muchos a dar gracias a Dios.

12 Ustedes no sólo están supliendo las necesidades del pueblo de Dios, sino que también están sirviéndole a él. La ayuda que ustedes ofrezcan servirá para que muchos le den gracias a Dios. 13 Muchos alabarán a Dios porque se darán cuenta de que ustedes obedecen las buenas noticias que anuncian sobre Cristo. Ellos verán que ustedes comparten generosamente lo que tienen con ellos y con los demás. 14 Ellos orarán por ustedes y desearán verlos gracias al superabundante generoso amor de Dios hacia ustedes. 15 ¡No tenemos palabras para agradecer a Dios por el regalo de su generoso amor!

9 Cuanto a la ministración para los santos, es por demás que yo os escriba; 2 pues conozco vuestra buena voluntad, de la cual yo me glorío entre los de Macedonia, que Acaya está preparada desde el año pasado; y vuestro celo ha estimulado a la mayoría. 3 Pero he enviado a los hermanos, para que nuestro gloriarnos de vosotros no sea vano en esta parte; para que como lo he dicho, estéis preparados; 4 no sea que si vinieren conmigo algunos macedonios, y os hallaren desprevenidos, nos avergoncemos nosotros, por no decir vosotros, de esta nuestra confianza. 5 Por tanto, tuve por necesario exhortar a los hermanos que fuesen primero a vosotros y preparasen primero vuestra generosidad antes prometida, para que esté lista como de generosidad, y no como de exigencia nuestra.

6 Pero esto digo: El que siembra escasamente, también segará escasamente; y el que siembra generosamente, generosamente también segará. 7 Cada uno dé como propuso en su corazón: no con tristeza, ni por necesidad, porque Dios ama al dador alegre. 8 Y poderoso es Dios para hacer que abunde en vosotros toda gracia, a fin de que, teniendo siempre en todas las cosas todo lo suficiente, abundéis para toda buena obra; 9 como está escrito:

Repartió, dio a los pobres;

Su justicia permanece para siempre.(A)

10 Y el que da semilla al que siembra, y pan al que come,(B) proveerá y multiplicará vuestra sementera, y aumentará los frutos de vuestra justicia, 11 para que estéis enriquecidos en todo para toda liberalidad, la cual produce por medio de nosotros acción de gracias a Dios. 12 Porque la ministración de este servicio no solamente suple lo que a los santos falta, sino que también abunda en muchas acciones de gracias a Dios; 13 pues por la experiencia de esta ministración glorifican a Dios por la obediencia que profesáis al evangelio de Cristo, y por la liberalidad de vuestra contribución para ellos y para todos; 14 asimismo en la oración de ellos por vosotros, a quienes aman a causa de la superabundante gracia de Dios en vosotros. 15 ¡Gracias a Dios por su don inefable!

Por eso, con mucho orgullo les dije a los hermanos de la región de Macedonia que ustedes, los de la región de Acaya, estaban dispuestos a ayudarlos desde el año pasado. Cuando los de Macedonia oyeron esto, la mayoría de ellos decidió ayudar.

3 Sin embargo, les envío a Tito y a los dos hermanos para que los animen a preparar todo lo necesario para la ofrenda; así podrá verse que teníamos razón de estar orgullosos de ustedes. 4 Imagínense la vergüenza que pasaríamos nosotros, para no hablar de la que pasarían ustedes, si algunos hermanos de Macedonia me acompañaran y ustedes no tuvieran preparada la ofrenda. ¡Dónde quedaría nuestra confianza en ustedes! 5 Por eso, he creído necesario mandar a estos hermanos antes de que yo vaya a verlos. Ellos pueden ayudarlos a juntar la ofrenda que ustedes prometieron. Así ustedes mostrarán que dan con gusto y por amor, y no por obligación.

Demos con alegría

6 Acuérdense de esto: «El que da poco, recibe poco; el que da mucho, recibe mucho.» 7 Cada uno debe dar según crea que deba hacerlo. No tenemos que dar con tristeza ni por obligación. ¡Dios ama al que da con alegría! 8 Dios puede darles muchas cosas, a fin de que tengan todo lo necesario, y aun les sobre. Así podrán hacer algo en favor de otros. 9 Como dice la Biblia, refiriéndose al que es generoso:

«Siempre que ayuda a los pobres,
lo hace con generosidad;
y en todo sale triunfante.»

10 Dios da la semilla que se siembra y el pan que nos alimenta, así que también les dará a ustedes todo lo necesario, y hará que tengan cada vez más, para que puedan ayudar a otros. 11 Los hará ricos, para que puedan dar mucho. Así, serán más los que den gracias a Dios por el dinero que ustedes van a reunir y que nosotros vamos a llevar. 12 Porque la ayuda de ustedes no sólo servirá para que los hermanos tengan lo que necesitan, sino que también hará que ellos den gracias a Dios. 13 Esa ayuda demostrará que ustedes han confiado en la buena noticia y obedecen su mensaje. Por eso, ellos alabarán y honrarán a Dios. 14 También orarán por ustedes con mucho cariño, porque Dios les ha mostrado su bondad. 15 ¡Gracias a Dios por lo que nos ha dado! ¡Es tan valioso que no hay palabras para describirlo!

Preparing the Gift

9 For it is not necessary[a] for me to write you about this service[b] to the saints, 2 because I know your eagerness to help.[c] I keep boasting to the Macedonians about this eagerness of yours,[d] that Achaia has been ready to give[e] since last year, and your zeal to participate[f] has stirred up most of them.[g] 3 But I am sending[h] these brothers so that our boasting about you may not be empty in this case, so that you may be ready[i] just as I kept telling them. 4 For if any of the Macedonians should come with me and find that you are not ready to give, we would be humiliated[j] (not to mention you) by this confidence we had in you.[k] 5 Therefore I thought it necessary to urge these brothers to go to you in advance and to arrange ahead of time the generous contribution[l] you had promised, so this may be ready as a generous gift[m] and not as something you feel forced to do.[n] 6 My point is this: The person who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the person who sows generously[o] will also reap generously. 7 Each one of you should give[p] just as he has decided in his heart,[q] not reluctantly[r] or under compulsion,[s] because God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace overflow[t] to you so that because you have enough[u] of everything in every way at all times, you will overflow[v] in every good work. 9 Just as it is written, “He[w] has scattered widely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness remains forever.”[x] 10 Now God[y] who provides seed for the sower and bread for food will provide and multiply your supply of seed and will cause the harvest of your righteousness to grow. 11 You will be enriched in every way so that you may be generous on every occasion,[z] which is producing through us thanksgiving to God, 12 because the service of this ministry is not only providing for[aa] the needs of the saints but is also overflowing with many thanks to God. 13 Through the evidence[ab] of this service[ac] they will glorify God because of your obedience to your confession in the gospel of Christ and the generosity of your sharing[ad] with them and with everyone. 14 And in their prayers on your behalf, they long for you because of the extraordinary grace God has shown to you.[ae] 15 Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift![af]

9 There is no need(A) for me to write to you about this service(B) to the Lord’s people.(C) 2 For I know your eagerness to help,(D) and I have been boasting(E) about it to the Macedonians, telling them that since last year(F) you in Achaia(G) were ready to give; and your enthusiasm has stirred most of them to action. 3 But I am sending the brothers(H) in order that our boasting about you in this matter should not prove hollow, but that you may be ready, as I said you would be.(I) 4 For if any Macedonians(J) come with me and find you unprepared, we—not to say anything about you—would be ashamed of having been so confident. 5 So I thought it necessary to urge the brothers(K) to visit you in advance and finish the arrangements for the generous gift you had promised. Then it will be ready as a generous gift,(L) not as one grudgingly given.(M)

Generosity Encouraged

6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.(N) 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give,(O) not reluctantly or under compulsion,(P) for God loves a cheerful giver.(Q) 8 And God is able(R) to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need,(S) you will abound in every good work. 9 As it is written:

“They have freely scattered their gifts(T) to the poor;
    their righteousness endures forever.”[a](U)

10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food(V) will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.(W) 11 You will be enriched(X) in every way so that you can be generous(Y) on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.(Z)

12 This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs(AA) of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.(AB) 13 Because of the service(AC) by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God(AD) for the obedience that accompanies your confession(AE) of the gospel of Christ,(AF) and for your generosity(AG) in sharing with them and with everyone else. 14 And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. 15 Thanks be to God(AH) for his indescribable gift!(AI)
