5 Así que el rey Salomón terminó el trabajo que quería hacer para el templo del SEÑOR. Entonces reunió todo lo que su papá David había consagrado, la plata, el oro y todos los objetos. Llevó todo eso y lo depositó en los tesoros del templo de Dios.

Traslado del cofre del pacto al templo

(1 R 8:1-11)

²Entonces el rey Salomón reunió en Jerusalén a todos los ancianos líderes de Israel, a los jefes de las tribus y a los líderes de las familias de Israel para trasladar el cofre del pacto del SEÑOR desde Sion, la Ciudad de David, al templo. ³Así que todos los israelitas se reunieron ante el rey durante la fiesta del séptimo mes.

⁴Todos los ancianos líderes de Israel se hicieron presentes y los levitas levantaron el Cofre Sagrado. ⁵Los sacerdotes y los levitas llevaron el cofre, la carpa de reunión y los artículos sagrados que había en la carpa. ⁶El rey Salomón y todos los israelitas reunidos con él para este propósito celebraron el sacrificio de tantas ovejas y ganado ante el cofre del pacto que nadie pudo llevar la cuenta. ⁷Entonces los sacerdotes pusieron el Cofre Sagrado del SEÑOR en su lugar, bajo las alas de los querubines dentro del Lugar Santísimo en el templo. ⁸Los querubines extienden sus alas por encima del Cofre Sagrado y de sus travesaños desde arriba. ⁹Los travesaños son largos y desde el Lugar Santo se les ven las puntas sobresaliendo del Lugar Santísimo. Sin embargo, no se ven desde afuera y están ahí hasta el día de hoy. ¹⁰Lo único que había dentro del Cofre Sagrado eran las dos tablas que Moisés colocó dentro del cofre en Horeb, donde el SEÑOR hizo pacto con los israelitas después de que salieron de Egipto.

¹¹Cuando los sacerdotes salieron del Lugar Santo, pues todos los sacerdotes que se encontraban allí se habían purificado sin tener en cuenta su distribución de turnos, ¹²los levitas cantores, todos los de Asaf, Hemán y Jedutún, sus hijos y sus parientes, estaban de pie al lado oriental del altar, vestidos de lino y con címbalos, liras y arpas. Con ellos estaban 120 sacerdotes trompetistas. ¹³Tocaban las trompetas y cantaban al unísono alabando y dando gracias al SEÑOR. Hacían sonar las trompetas, los platillos y los otros instrumentos musicales mientras cantaban y alababan al SEÑOR diciendo: «Porque él es bueno y su fiel amor es para siempre». En ese momento se llenó el templo del SEÑOR con una nube. ¹⁴Debido a la nube, los sacerdotes no pudieron seguir celebrando el culto porque el templo de Dios estaba lleno de la gloria del SEÑOR.

The Ark Brought into the Temple

5 So ^(A)all the work that Solomon had done for the house of the Lord was finished; and Solomon brought in the things which his father David had dedicated: the silver and the gold and all the furnishings. And he put them in the treasuries of the house of God.

The Ark Brought into the Temple^(B)

²^(C)Now Solomon assembled the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the chief fathers of the children of Israel, in Jerusalem, that they might bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord up ^(D)from the City of David, which is Zion. ³^(E)Therefore all the men of Israel assembled with the king ^(F)at the feast, which was in the seventh month. ⁴So all the elders of Israel came, and the ^(G)Levites took up the ark. ⁵Then they brought up the ark, the tabernacle of meeting, and all the holy furnishings that were in the tabernacle. The priests and the Levites brought them up. ⁶Also King Solomon, and all the congregation of Israel who were assembled with him before the ark, were sacrificing sheep and oxen that could not be counted or numbered for multitude. ⁷Then the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the Lord to its place, into the ^(H)inner sanctuary of the ^[a]temple, to the Most Holy Place, under the wings of the cherubim. ⁸For the cherubim spread their wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubim overshadowed the ark and its poles. ⁹The poles extended so that the ends of the ^(I)poles of the ark could be seen from the holy place, in front of the inner sanctuary; but they could not be seen from outside. And ^[b]they are there to this day. ¹⁰Nothing was in the ark except the two tablets which Moses ^(J)put there at Horeb, ^[c]when the Lord made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they had come out of Egypt.

¹¹And it came to pass when the priests came out of the Most Holy Place (for all the priests who were present had ^[d]sanctified themselves, without keeping to their ^(K)divisions), ¹²^(L)and the Levites who were the singers, all those of Asaph and Heman and Jeduthun, with their sons and their brethren, stood at the east end of the altar, clothed in white linen, having cymbals, stringed instruments and harps, ^(M)and with them one hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets— ¹³indeed it came to pass, when the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord, and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the Lord, saying:

^(N)“For He is good,
For His mercy endures forever,”

that the house, the house of the Lord, was filled with a cloud, ¹⁴so that the priests could not ^[e]continue ministering because of the cloud; ^(O)for the glory of the Lord filled the house of God.
