The Furnishings of the House of Yahweh

Then (A)he made a bronze altar, [a]twenty cubits in length and twenty cubits in width and ten cubits in height. (B)And he made the sea of cast metal ten cubits from brim to brim, circular in form, and its height was five cubits, and [b]thirty cubits in [c]its circumference. Now figures like oxen were under it and encircling it, ten cubits, entirely encircling the sea. The oxen were in two rows, cast [d]in one piece. It stood on twelve oxen, three facing the north, three facing west, three facing south, and three facing east; and the sea was set on top of them, and all their rear parts turned inward. And it was a [e]handbreadth thick, and its brim was made like the brim of a cup, as a lily blossom; it (C)could hold 3,000 baths. (D)He also made ten lavers and set five on the right side and five on the left, in which to wash things, that is, in which they would rinse things for the burnt offering; but the sea was for the priests to wash in.

Then (E)he made the ten golden lampstands [f]in the way prescribed for them and he put them in the temple, five on the right side and five on the left. He also made (F)ten tables and placed them in the temple, five on the right side and five on the left. And he made one hundred golden bowls. Then he made (G)the court of the priests and (H)the great court and doors for the court, and overlaid their doors with bronze. 10 (I)And he put the sea on the right [g]side of the house toward the southeast.

11 (J)And Huram made the pots and the shovels and the bowls. So Huram completed doing the work which he did for King Solomon in the house of God: 12 the two pillars and the two bowls and the two capitals on top of the pillars, and the two networks to cover the two bowls of the capitals which were on top of the pillars, 13 and (K)the four hundred pomegranates for the two networks, two rows of pomegranates for each network to cover the two bowls of the capitals which were on the pillars. 14 (L)He also made the stands and he made the lavers on the stands, 15 and the one sea with the twelve oxen under it. 16 And the pots and the shovels and the flesh hooks and all its utensils, (M)Huram-abi made of polished bronze for King Solomon for the house of Yahweh. 17 On the plain of the Jordan the king cast them, in the clay ground between Succoth and Zeredah. 18 (N)Thus Solomon made all these utensils in great quantities, for the weight of the bronze could not be found out.

19 Solomon also made all the furniture which was in the house of God: even the golden altar and (O)the tables with the bread of the Presence on them, 20 and the lampstands with their lamps of pure gold, (P)to burn in front of the inner sanctuary [h]in the way prescribed; 21 and the flowers and the lamps and the tongs of gold, of purest gold; 22 and the snuffers and the bowls and the spoons and the firepans, of pure gold; and the entrance of the house, its inner doors for the Holy of Holies and the doors of the house, that is, of the nave, of gold.

1 The altar of brass. 2 The molten sea. 6 The caldrons. 7 The candlesticks, etc.

And he made an altar of brass twenty cubits long, and twenty cubits broad, and ten cubits high.

And he made a molten [a]Sea of ten cubits from brim to brim, round in compass, and five cubits high: and a line of thirty cubits did compass it about.

And under [b]it was the fashion of oxen, which did compass it round about, [c]ten in a cubit compassing the Sea about: two rows of oxen were cast when it was molten.

It stood upon twelve oxen: three looked toward the North, and three looked toward the West, and three looked toward the South, and three looked toward the East, and the Sea stood above upon them, and all their hinder parts were inward.

And the thickness thereof was an hand breadth, and the brim thereof was like the work of the brim of a cup, with flowers of [d]lilies: it contained [e]three thousand baths.

¶ He made also ten caldrons, and put five on the right hand, and five on the left, to wash in them, and to cleanse in them that which appertained to the burnt offerings: but the Sea was for the Priests to wash in.

¶ And he made ten candlesticks of gold (according to [f]their form) and put them in the Temple, five on the right hand, and five on the left.

¶ And he made ten tables, and put them in the Temple, five on the right hand, and five on the left: and he made an hundred basins of gold.

And he made the [g]court of the Priests, and the great court and doors for the court, and overlaid the doors thereof with brass.

10 And he set the Sea on the right side Eastward toward the South.

11 And Huram made [h]pots and besoms and basins, and Huram finished the work that he should make for King Solomon for the house of God,

12 To wit, two pillars, and the bowls and the chapiters on the top of the two pillars, and two grates to cover the two bowls of the chapiters which were upon the top of the pillars:

13 And four hundred pomegranates for the two grates, two rows of pomegranates for every grate to cover the two bowls of the chapiters, that were upon the pillars.

14 He made also bases, and made caldrons upon the bases:

15 And a Sea, and twelve bulls under it:

16 Pots also and besoms, and flesh hooks, and all these vessels made Huram [i]his father to King Solomon for the house of the Lord of shining brass.

17 In the plain of Jordan did the King cast them in clay between Succoth and Zeredathah.

18 And Solomon made all these vessels in great abundance: for the weight of brass could not be reckoned.

19 And Solomon made all the vessels that were for the house of God: the golden altar also and the tables, whereon the [j]showbread stood.

20 Moreover, the candlesticks with their lamps, to burn them after the manner before the Oracle, of pure gold.

21 And the flowers and the lamps, and the snuffers of gold, which was fine gold.

22 And the [k]hooks, and the basins, and the spoons, and the ash pans of pure gold: the entry also of the house and doors thereof within, even of the most holy place: and the doors of the house, to wit, of the Temple were [l]of gold.
