¹⁵ Yet the Lord, the God of their fathers, ^(A)sent word to them again and again by His messengers, because He had compassion on His people and on His dwelling place;

³ “From the ^(A)thirteenth year of ^(B)Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, even to this day, ^[a]these ^(C)twenty-three years the word of the Lord has come to me, and I have spoken to you ^(D)again and again, but you have not listened.

³¹ So you testify against yourselves, that you ^(A)are ^[a]sons of those who murdered the prophets. ^32 [b]Fill up, then, the measure of the guilt of your fathers. ³³ You snakes, ^(B)you ^[c]offspring of vipers, how ^[d]will you escape the ^[e]sentence of ^[f](C)hell?

³⁴ “^(D)Therefore, behold, ^(E)I am sending you prophets and wise men and scribes; some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will ^(F)flog in your synagogues, and ^(G)persecute from city to city, ³⁵ so that upon you will fall the guilt of all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous ^(H)Abel to the blood of Zechariah, the ^(I)son of Berechiah, whom ^(J)you murdered between the ^[g]temple and the altar. ³⁶ Truly I say to you, all these things will come upon ^(K)this generation.

³⁷ “^(L)Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who ^(M)kills the prophets and stones those who have been sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, ^(N)the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were unwilling.
