Abijah and Civil War
13 In the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam, Abijah reigned over Judah. 2 He reigned for three years in Jerusalem. And the name of his mother was Micaiah the daughter of Uriel from Gibeah.
Now there was war between Abijah and between Jeroboam. 3 And Abijah joined in the battle with an army of four hundred thousand battle-hardened warriors,[a] chosen men, and Jeroboam put the battle in order against him with eight hundred thousand chosen men, an army of mighty warriors.
4 Then Abijah stood up on top of Mount Zemaraim that is in the hill country of Ephraim and said, “Hear me, O Jeroboam and all Israel! 5 Do you not all know that Yahweh the God of Israel gave the kingdom to David over Israel forever, to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt? 6 But Jeroboam the son of Nebat, a servant of Solomon the son of David, rose up and rebelled against his master, 7 and worthless men, sons of wickedness,[b] were gathered about him and became hostile against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was a boy and gentle of heart and was not strong enough to stand before them. 8 So now you yourselves are considering that you are strong before the kingdom of Yahweh which is in the hand the sons of David, since you yourselves are a great multitude and you have bull calves of gold that Jeroboam has made for idols. 9 Did you not drive out the priests of Yahweh, the sons of Aaron, the Levites? Have you not made for yourselves priests like all the peoples of the lands? All who come to be consecrated for priestly service[c] with a young bull or seven rams becomes a priest of what is not a god. 10 But as for us, Yahweh is our God, and we have not forsaken him. The priests serving Yahweh are the sons of Aaron, the Levites, according to their service. 11 They offer burnt offerings to Yahweh every morning[d] and every evening,[e] sweet spices of incense, and the rows of bread upon the pure table. And the golden lampstand with its lamps they keep kindled every evening,[f] for we are keeping the requirement of Yahweh our God, but you yourselves have forsaken him. 12 And look, God is with us at the head, and his priests have the trumpets for sounding blasts against you, O sons of Israel. Do not fight against Yahweh, the God of your ancestors,[g] for you will not succeed.”
13 Then Jeroboam sent around an ambush to come behind them. So they were in front of Judah, but the ambush was behind them. 14 When Judah turned, then behold, the battle against them was in front and behind, and they cried to Yahweh, and the priests blew on the trumpets. 15 Then the men of Judah shouted, and it happened that when the men of Judah were shouting, then God defeated Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah. 16 And the Israelites[h] fled from before Judah, and God gave them into their hand. 17 And Abijah and his people struck a great blow against them, and the dead from Israel that fell were five hundred thousand chosen men. 18 And the Israelites[i] were subdued at that time, and the people[j] of Judah were victorious, for they relied upon Yahweh the God of their ancestors.[k]
19 And Abijah pursued after Jeroboam and took cities from him: Bethel with its villages, Jeshanah with its villages, and Ephron with its villages. 20 And Jeroboam did not regain strength again in the days of Abijah. And Yahweh plagued him and he died. 21 But Abijah became strong, and he took to himself fourteen wives and fathered twenty-two sons and sixteen daughters. 22 Now the rest of the words of Abijah and his ways and his words are written in the story of the prophet Iddo.

13 (A)En el año dieciocho del rey Jeroboam, Abías comenzó a reinar sobre Judá. 2 Reinó tres años en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre era Micaías, hija de Uriel[a], de Guibeá. Y hubo guerra entre Abías y Jeroboam(B). 3 Abías comenzó la batalla con un ejército de valientes guerreros, 400,000 hombres escogidos, mientras que Jeroboam se puso en orden de batalla contra él con 800,000 hombres escogidos, valientes y fuertes.
4 Entonces Abías se levantó en el monte Zemaraim(C) que está en la región montañosa de Efraín, y dijo: «Escúchenme, Jeroboam y todo Israel: 5 ¿No saben ustedes que el Señor, Dios de Israel, dio a David el reino sobre Israel para siempre, a él y a sus hijos(D) con pacto de sal(E)? 6 Pero Jeroboam, hijo de Nabat, siervo de Salomón(F), hijo de David, se alzó y se rebeló contra su señor. 7 Con él se juntaron hombres indignos y malvados que prevalecieron sobre Roboam(G), hijo de Salomón, cuando Roboam era joven y tímido, y no pudo prevalecer contra ellos. 8 Y ahora ustedes intentan resistir al reinado del Señor que está en manos de los hijos de David, porque son una gran multitud y tienen con ustedes los becerros de oro que Jeroboam les hizo por dioses(H). 9 ¿No han echado fuera ustedes a los hijos de Aarón, y a los sacerdotes del Señor, y a los levitas, y se han hecho sacerdotes(I) como los pueblos de otras tierras? Cualquiera que venga a consagrarse(J) con un novillo y siete carneros, aun este puede llegar a ser sacerdote de los que no son dioses(K).
10 »Pero en cuanto a nosotros, el Señor es nuestro Dios, y no lo hemos abandonado; y los hijos de Aarón sirven al Señor como sacerdotes, y los levitas en sus funciones. 11 Y cada mañana y cada tarde ellos queman holocaustos e incienso aromático al Señor; y el pan(L) está colocado sobre la mesa limpia, y el candelabro de oro con sus lámparas para ser encendidas cada tarde(M). Porque nosotros guardamos la ordenanza del Señor nuestro Dios, pero ustedes lo han abandonado. 12 Así que Dios está con nosotros a la cabeza, y Sus sacerdotes con las trompetas de aviso para tocar la alarma contra ustedes(N). ¡Oh israelitas!, no luchen contra el Señor, Dios de sus padres, porque nada lograrán».

16 Cuando los israelitas huyeron delante de Judá, Dios los entregó en sus manos(R). 17 Abías y su gente los derrotaron con una gran matanza, y cayeron muertos 500,000 hombres escogidos de Israel. 18 Así fueron humillados los israelitas en aquel tiempo, y los hijos de Judá prevalecieron porque se apoyaron en el Señor(S), Dios de sus padres. 19 Abías persiguió a Jeroboam, y le tomó varias ciudades: Betel[c] con sus aldeas, Jesana con sus aldeas y Efraín[d] con sus aldeas. 20 Jeroboam no volvió a recuperar poder en los días de Abías; y el Señor lo hirió y murió(T).
21 Abías se hizo poderoso. Tomó para sí catorce mujeres, y tuvo veintidós hijos y dieciséis hijas. 22 Los demás hechos de Abías, y sus caminos y sus palabras están escritos en la historia[e](U) del profeta Iddo(V).

13 耶罗波安王执政第十八年，亚比雅登基做犹大王， 2 在耶路撒冷执政三年。他母亲叫米该亚[a]，是基比亚人乌列的女儿。亚比雅和耶罗波安之间常有争战。 3 有一次，亚比雅率领四十万精兵出战，耶罗波安率领八十万精兵列阵迎战。
4 亚比雅站在以法莲山区的西玛莲山上说：“耶罗波安和全体以色列人啊，你们听我说， 5 你们不知道以色列的上帝耶和华曾经立下永世之约[b]，要把以色列国永远赐给大卫和他的子孙吗？ 6 尼八的儿子耶罗波安本是大卫的儿子所罗门的仆人，他却背叛他的主人， 7 召集一群无赖恶棍，与所罗门的儿子罗波安作对。那时，罗波安年轻怯懦，无力抵抗。
8 “现在你们仗着人多势众，又有耶罗波安制造的金牛犊作为你们的神明，便企图反抗大卫子孙所治理的耶和华的国度。 9 你们赶走了做耶和华祭司的亚伦之后裔和利未人，效法外族人的恶俗为自己设立祭司。任何人牵来一头公牛犊和七只公绵羊，就可以自封为假神的祭司。
10 “至于我们，耶和华是我们的上帝，我们没有背弃祂，我们有亚伦的后裔做祭司事奉耶和华，也有利未人各尽其职。 11 他们每天早晚向耶和华献燔祭，烧芬芳的香，把供饼摆在洁净[c]的桌子上，每晚点上金灯台的灯。我们遵守我们上帝耶和华的吩咐，你们却背弃祂。 12 上帝与我们同在，祂率领我们。祂的祭司就要吹响向你们进攻的号角。以色列人啊，不要与你们祖先的上帝耶和华作对，因为你们绝不会得胜。”
13 耶罗波安却在犹大人后面设伏兵，企图前后夹攻他们。 14 犹大人转身，发现自己前后受敌，就呼求耶和华。祭司吹响号角， 15 犹大人便吶喊，上帝使耶罗波安和以色列人败在亚比雅和犹大人面前。 16 以色列人从犹大人面前逃跑，上帝把他们交在犹大人手中。 17 亚比雅和他的军队大败以色列人，歼灭了他们五十万精兵。 18 这样，以色列人被击败，犹大人因为倚靠他们祖先的上帝耶和华而大获全胜。
