2 Поэтому я решил больше не приходить к вам только для того, чтобы вас огорчать. 2 Если я буду вас огорчать, то кто же сможет тогда порадовать меня? Кто, как не вы, которых я огорчаю? 3 Я написал вам то письмо[a] для того, чтобы, придя к вам, не оказаться огорчённым теми, о ком я хотел бы радоваться, и я уверен, что моя радость – это наша общая радость. 4 Мне очень нелегко было писать вам так; я писал со слезами и с болью в сердце. Но моей целью было не огорчить вас, а дать вам знать, как сильно я вас люблю.
Прощение грешника
5 Тот, кто доставил мне печаль, огорчил не только меня, а отчасти, чтобы не сказать больше, и всех вас. 6 Для этого человека достаточно того наказания, которое он уже получил от большинства из вас. 7 А теперь простите его и успокойте, чтобы ему не быть подавленным невыносимой печалью. 8 Умоляю вас, подтвердите свою любовь к нему.
9 Я писал вам также для того, чтобы проверить вас, будете ли вы послушны во всём. 10 А кого вы прощаете, того и я прощаю. А кого я прощаю, если ему действительно есть что прощать, того я прощаю ради вас перед Масихом, 11 чтобы сатана не смог нас перехитрить, а намерения сатаны мы прекрасно знаем.
Переживания в Троаде
12 Когда я пришёл в Троаду возвещать Радостную Весть о Масихе, то Повелитель открыл мне дверь для служения. 13 Но я не мог успокоиться, потому что не нашёл там моего брата по вере Тита. Поэтому я попрощался с верующими из Троады и отправился в Македонию.[b]
Победа через Масиха
14 Я благодарен Всевышнему, Который всегда ведёт нас, находящихся в единении с Масихом, в Своей триумфальной процессии и повсюду распространяет через нас благоухание познания о Нём. 15 Потому что мы для Всевышнего благовоние, возжигаемое Масихом, среди тех, кто принимает спасение[c], и тех, кто идёт к погибели. 16 Для одних мы – запах смертоносный, для других – живительное благоухание. И кто способен на такое служение?! 17 При этом мы не торгуем вразнос словом Всевышнего, как это делают многие. Будучи в единении с Масихом, мы говорим искренне перед Всевышним как люди, посланные Всевышним.

2 εκρινα γαρ εμαυτω τουτο το μη παλιν εν λυπη προς υμας ελθειν
2 ει γαρ εγω λυπω υμας και τις ο ευφραινων με ει μη ο λυπουμενος εξ εμου
3 και εγραψα τουτο αυτο ινα μη ελθων λυπην σχω αφ ων εδει με χαιρειν πεποιθως επι παντας υμας οτι η εμη χαρα παντων υμων εστιν
4 εκ γαρ πολλης θλιψεως και συνοχης καρδιας εγραψα υμιν δια πολλων δακρυων ουχ ινα λυπηθητε αλλα την αγαπην ινα γνωτε ην εχω περισσοτερως εις υμας
5 ει δε τις λελυπηκεν ουκ εμε λελυπηκεν αλλα απο μερους ινα μη επιβαρω παντας υμας
6 ικανον τω τοιουτω η επιτιμια αυτη η υπο των πλειονων
7 ωστε τουναντιον υμας χαρισασθαι και παρακαλεσαι μη πως τη περισσοτερα λυπη καταποθη ο τοιουτος
8 διο παρακαλω υμας κυρωσαι εις αυτον αγαπην
9 εις τουτο γαρ και εγραψα ινα γνω την δοκιμην υμων ει εις παντα υπηκοοι εστε
10 ω δε τι χαριζεσθε καγω και γαρ εγω ο κεχαρισμαι ει τι κεχαρισμαι δι υμας εν προσωπω χριστου
11 ινα μη πλεονεκτηθωμεν υπο του σατανα ου γαρ αυτου τα νοηματα αγνοουμεν
12 ελθων δε εις την τρωαδα εις το ευαγγελιον του χριστου και θυρας μοι ανεωγμενης εν κυριω
13 ουκ εσχηκα ανεσιν τω πνευματι μου τω μη ευρειν με τιτον τον αδελφον μου αλλα αποταξαμενος αυτοις εξηλθον εις μακεδονιαν
14 τω δε θεω χαρις τω παντοτε θριαμβευοντι ημας εν τω χριστω και την οσμην της γνωσεως αυτου φανερουντι δι ημων εν παντι τοπω
15 οτι χριστου ευωδια εσμεν τω θεω εν τοις σωζομενοις και εν τοις απολλυμενοις
16 οις μεν οσμη εκ θανατου εις θανατον οις δε οσμη εκ ζωης εις ζωην και προς ταυτα τις ικανος
17 ου γαρ εσμεν ως οι πολλοι καπηλευοντες τον λογον του θεου αλλ ως εξ ειλικρινειας αλλ ως εκ θεου κατεναντι θεου εν χριστω λαλουμεν

2 1 So I made up my mind that I would not make another painful visit to you.(A) 2 For if I grieve you,(B) who is left to make me glad but you whom I have grieved? 3 I wrote as I did,(C) so that when I came I would not be distressed(D) by those who should have made me rejoice. I had confidence(E) in all of you, that you would all share my joy. 4 For I wrote you(F) out of great distress and anguish of heart and with many tears, not to grieve you but to let you know the depth of my love for you.
Forgiveness for the Offender
5 If anyone has caused grief,(G) he has not so much grieved me as he has grieved all of you to some extent—not to put it too severely. 6 The punishment(H) inflicted on him by the majority is sufficient. 7 Now instead, you ought to forgive and comfort him,(I) so that he will not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. 8 I urge you, therefore, to reaffirm your love for him. 9 Another reason I wrote you(J) was to see if you would stand the test and be obedient in everything.(K) 10 Anyone you forgive, I also forgive. And what I have forgiven—if there was anything to forgive—I have forgiven in the sight of Christ for your sake, 11 in order that Satan(L) might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.(M)
Ministers of the New Covenant
12 Now when I went to Troas(N) to preach the gospel of Christ(O) and found that the Lord had opened a door(P) for me, 13 I still had no peace of mind,(Q) because I did not find my brother Titus(R) there. So I said goodbye to them and went on to Macedonia.(S)
14 But thanks be to God,(T) who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma(U) of the knowledge(V) of him everywhere. 15 For we are to God the pleasing aroma(W) of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.(X) 16 To the one we are an aroma that brings death;(Y) to the other, an aroma that brings life. And who is equal to such a task?(Z) 17 Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit.(AA) On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity,(AB) as those sent from God.(AC)

2 But I determined this with myself, that I would not come again to you in heaviness.
2 For if I make you sorry, who is he then that maketh me glad, but the same which is made sorry by me?
3 And I wrote this same unto you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.
4 For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that ye should be grieved, but that ye might know the love which I have more abundantly unto you.
5 But if any have caused grief, he hath not grieved me, but in part: that I may not overcharge you all.
6 Sufficient to such a man is this punishment, which was inflicted of many.
7 So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.
8 Wherefore I beseech you that ye would confirm your love toward him.
9 For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye be obedient in all things.
10 To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ;
11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
12 Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ's gospel, and a door was opened unto me of the Lord,
13 I had no rest in my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother: but taking my leave of them, I went from thence into Macedonia.
14 Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.
15 For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:
16 To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?
17 For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.
