50 När Baal-Hanan dog blev Hadad kung. Han regerade från staden Pagi. Hans hustru hette Mehetabel och var dotter till Matred, som var dotter till Me-Sahab.

51-54 Efter Hadads död var dessa män Edoms stamfurstar:Timna, Alja, Jetet, Oholibama, Ela, Pinon, Kenas, Teman, Mibsar, Magdiel och Iram.

Jakobs ättlingar

1-2 Israels söner hette:Ruben, Simeon, Levi, Juda, Isaskar, Sebulon, Dan, Josef, Benjamin, Naftali, Gad och Aser.

Judas söner hette:Er, Onan och Sela. Dessa tre fick han med sin hustru Batsua, Suas dotter från Kanaan. Men den äldste sonen, Er, var så ogudaktig att Herren dödade honom.

Ers änka Tamar fick barn med sin svärfar Juda och födde tvillingarna Peres och Sera. Juda hade alltså fem söner.

Peres söner hette:Hesron och Hamul.

Seras söner hette:Simri, Etan, Heman, Kalkol och Dara.

Karmis son Akan var den som stal från Gud och därigenom drog olycka över folket.

Etan hade en son, Asarja.

Hesrons söner hette:Jerameel, Ram och Kelubai.

10 Ram var far till Amminadab och Amminadab var far till Naheson, en av ledarna i Juda.

11 Naheson var far till Salma och Salma var far till Boas.

12 Boas var far till Obed och Obed var far till Isai.

13-17 Isai hade sju söner. Den äldste hette Eliab, och sedan följde Abinadab, Simea, Netanel, Raddai och Osem. Hans sjunde och yngste son var David. Isai hade också döttrarna Seruja och Abigail. Serujas söner hette Abisai, Joab och Asael. Abigail hade med Jeter från Ismaels land sonen Amasa.

18 Kaleb, Hesrons son, hade två hustrur, Asuba och Jeriot. Med Asuba hade han sönerna Jeser, Sobab och Ardon.

19 När Asuba dog gifte sig Kaleb med Efrat, som födde honom sonen Hur.

20 Hur var far till Uri och Uri far till Besalel.

21 Hesron gifte sig med Makirs dotter när han var sextio år gammal, och med henne fick han sonen Segub. Makir var också far till Gilead.

22 Segub var far till Jair, som regerade över tjugotre städer i Gileads land.

23 Men Gesur och Aram tog ifrån honom dessa städer och även staden Kenat med dess sextio kringliggande byar. Alla dessa härstammade från Makir.

24 Efter Hesrons död i Kaleb-Efrata födde hans hustru Abia sonen Ashur, som sedan blev Tekoas far.

25 Jerameels, Hesrons äldste sons, söner hette:Ram, den äldste, Buna, Oren, Osem och Ahia.

26 Jerameel hade också en hustru som hette Atara. Hon födde Onam.

27 Rams söner hette:Maas, Jamin och Eker.

28 Onams söner hette:Sammai och Jada.Sammais söner hette:Nadab och Abisur.

29 Abisurs hustru Abihail födde sönerna Aban och Molid.

30 Nadabs söner hette Seled och Appaim. Seled dog barnlös,

31 men Appaim fick sonen Jisei. Jisei fick sonen Sesan och Sesan fick Alai.

32 Jada, Sammais bror, fick sönerna Jeter och Jonatan. Jeter dog utan barn,

34-35 Sesan hade inga söner, men flera döttrar. En av dem gav han som hustru till sin egyptiske tjänare Jarha. De fick sonen Attai.

36-41 Attais son hette Natan, och därefter följde i rakt nedstigande led Sabad, Eflal, Obed, Jehu, Asarja, Heles, Eleasa, Sisamai, Sallum, Jekamja och Elisama.

42 Kalebs, Jerameels brors, äldste son var Mesa. Han var far till Sif, som var far till Maresas, som var far till Hebron.

43 Hebrons söner hette Kora, Tappua, Rekem och Sema.

44 Sema var far till Raham, som var far till Jorkeam. Rekem var far till Sammai.

45 Sammai fick sonen Maon, som var far till Bet-Sur.

46 Kalebs bihustru Efa födde honom Haran, Mosa och Gases. Haran fick sonen Gases.

47 Jadais söner hette:Regem, Jotam, Gesan, Pelet, Efa och Saaf.

48-49 En annan av Kalebs bihustrur, Maaka, födde honom Seber, Tirhana, Saaf, far till Madmanna, och Seva, far till Makbena och Gibea. Kaleb hade också en dotter som hette Aksa.

50 Hur, Kalebs och hans hustru Efrats äldste son, fick sönerna Sobal, far till Kirjat-Jearim,

51 Salma, far till Bet-Lehem, och Haref, far till Bet-Gader.

52 Förutom Kirjat-Jearim hade Sobal sonen Haroe. Hälften av manahatiterna härstammade också från honom.

53 Av Kirjat-Jearim kom jeteriterna, outiterna, sumatiterna och misraiterna. Från dessa senare kom sorgatiterna och estaoliterna.

54 Salmas ättlingar var Bet-Lehem, netofatiterna, Atrot-Bet-Joab, den andra hälften av manahatiterna och sorgiterna.

55 Från honom härstammar också de skriftlärdes familjer som bodde i Jaebes, nämligen tireatiterna, simeatiterna och sukatiterna. Alla dessa var kaineer som härstammade från Hammat, stamfadern i Rekabs släkt.

Timna, Alvah, Jetheth, 52 Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon, 53 Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar, 54 Magdiel and Iram. These were the chiefs of Edom.

Er, Onan and Shelah.(AH) These three were born to him by a Canaanite woman, the daughter of Shua.(AI) Er, Judah’s firstborn, was wicked in the Lord’s sight; so the Lord put him to death.(AJ) Judah’s daughter-in-law(AK) Tamar(AL) bore Perez(AM) and Zerah to Judah. He had five sons in all.

The sons of Zerah:

Zimri, Ethan, Heman, Kalkol and Darda[r]—five in all.

The son of Karmi:

Achar,[s](AP) who brought trouble on Israel by violating the ban on taking devoted things.[t](AQ)

Azariah.

The sons born to Hezron(AR) were:

From Ram Son of Hezron

10 Ram(AS) was the father of

Amminadab(AT), and Amminadab the father of Nahshon,(AU) the leader of the people of Judah. 11 Nahshon was the father of Salmon,[v] Salmon the father of Boaz, 12 Boaz(AV) the father of Obed and Obed the father of Jesse.(AW)

13 Jesse(AX) was the father of

Eliab(AY) his firstborn; the second son was Abinadab, the third Shimea, 14 the fourth Nethanel, the fifth Raddai, 15 the sixth Ozem and the seventh David. 16 Their sisters were Zeruiah(AZ) and Abigail. Zeruiah’s(BA) three sons were Abishai, Joab(BB) and Asahel. 17 Abigail was the mother of Amasa,(BC) whose father was Jether the Ishmaelite.

Caleb Son of Hezron

18 Caleb son of Hezron had children by his wife Azubah (and by Jerioth). These were her sons: Jesher, Shobab and Ardon. 19 When Azubah died, Caleb(BD) married Ephrath, who bore him Hur. 20 Hur was the father of Uri, and Uri the father of Bezalel.(BE)

21 Later, Hezron, when he was sixty years old, married the daughter of Makir the father of Gilead.(BF) He made love to her, and she bore him Segub. 22 Segub was the father of Jair, who controlled twenty-three towns in Gilead. 23 (But Geshur and Aram captured Havvoth Jair,[w](BG) as well as Kenath(BH) with its surrounding settlements—sixty towns.) All these were descendants of Makir the father of Gilead.

24 After Hezron died in Caleb Ephrathah, Abijah the wife of Hezron bore him Ashhur(BI) the father[x] of Tekoa.

Jerahmeel Son of Hezron

25 The sons of Jerahmeel the firstborn of Hezron:

Ram his firstborn, Bunah, Oren, Ozem and[y] Ahijah. 26 Jerahmeel had another wife, whose name was Atarah; she was the mother of Onam.

27 The sons of Ram the firstborn of Jerahmeel:

Maaz, Jamin and Eker.

28 The sons of Onam:

Shammai and Jada.

The sons of Shammai:

Nadab and Abishur.

29 Abishur’s wife was named Abihail, who bore him Ahban and Molid.

30 The sons of Nadab:

Seled and Appaim. Seled died without children.

31 The son of Appaim:

Ishi, who was the father of Sheshan.

Sheshan was the father of Ahlai.

32 The sons of Jada, Shammai’s brother:

Jether and Jonathan. Jether died without children.

33 The sons of Jonathan:

Peleth and Zaza.

These were the descendants of Jerahmeel.

34 Sheshan had no sons—only daughters.

He had an Egyptian servant named Jarha. 35 Sheshan gave his daughter in marriage to his servant Jarha, and she bore him Attai.

46 Caleb’s concubine Ephah was the mother of Haran, Moza and Gazez. Haran was the father of Gazez.

47 The sons of Jahdai:

Regem, Jotham, Geshan, Pelet, Ephah and Shaaph.

48 Caleb’s concubine Maakah was the mother of Sheber and Tirhanah. 49 She also gave birth to Shaaph the father of Madmannah(BN) and to Sheva the father of Makbenah and Gibea. Caleb’s daughter was Aksah.(BO) 50 These were the descendants of Caleb.

The sons of Hur(BP) the firstborn of Ephrathah:

Shobal the father of Kiriath Jearim,(BQ) 51 Salma the father of Bethlehem, and Hareph the father of Beth Gader.

52 The descendants of Shobal the father of Kiriath Jearim were:

Haroeh, half the Manahathites, 53 and the clans of Kiriath Jearim: the Ithrites,(BR) Puthites, Shumathites and Mishraites. From these descended the Zorathites and Eshtaolites.

54 The descendants of Salma:

Bethlehem, the Netophathites,(BS) Atroth Beth Joab, half the Manahathites, the Zorites, 55 and the clans of scribes[aa] who lived at Jabez: the Tirathites, Shimeathites and Sucathites. These are the Kenites(BT) who came from Hammath,(BU) the father of the Rekabites.[ab](BV)
