Si David ay Tinanggihan ng mga Filisteo
29 Ang mga Filisteo'y nagtipun-tipon sa Afec at ang mga Israelita naman ay sa tabi ng malaking bukal sa libis ng Jezreel. 2 Nang ang mga pinunong Filisteo ay patungo na sa labanan kasama ang kani-kanilang pangkat na may daan-daan at may libu-libo, nakita nila ang pangkat ni David; ang mga ito'y nasa hulihan at kahanay ng pangkat ni Aquis. 3 Itinanong ng mga prinsipeng Filisteo, “Sino ang mga Hebreong ito? Ano ang ginagawa nila rito?”
Sumagot si Aquis, “Si David iyan na lingkod ni Haring Saul. Siya'y mahigit nang isang taong kasa-kasama ko. Buhat nang magkasama kami, wala akong maipipintas sa kanya.”
4 Nagalit ang mga pinunong Filisteo. Sinabi nila kay Aquis, “Pabalikin mo na sila sa lugar na ibinigay mo sa kanila. Hindi natin sila isasama sa labanan. Baka kung nandoon na, tayo pa ang labanan nila. Baka samantalahin niya ang pagkakataon upang maalis ang galit sa kanya ni Saul. 5 Hindi(A) ba iyan ang David na kanilang binabanggit sa awit na:
‘Pumatay si Saul ng libu-libo
si David nama'y sampu-sampung libo?’”
6 Tinawag ni Aquis si David. Sinabi niya, “Saksi si Yahweh, ang Diyos na buháy,[a] ikaw ay naging tapat sa akin. At para sa akin, nais kong kasama ka sa pakikidigma naming ito sapagkat buhat nang magkasama tayo'y wala akong masasabing masama laban sa iyo. Ngunit ayaw kang isama ng ibang pinuno. 7 Kaya, magbalik ka na para hindi magalit sa iyo ang mga pinuno ng mga Filisteo.”
8 Itinanong ni David, “Ano ba ang nagawa kong masama buhat nang sumama ako sa inyo at ayaw ninyo akong isama sa pakikipaglaban sa inyong mga kaaway?”
9 Sumagot si Aquis, “Alam kong wala kang ginawang masama. Natitiyak kong ikaw ay tapat, tulad ng isang anghel ng Diyos, ngunit ayaw kang isama ng mga pinunong Filisteo. 10 Kaya, pagliwanag bukas ng umaga, isama mong lahat ang mga tauhan mo at bumalik na kayo sa lugar na ibinigay ko sa inyo. Huwag sasama ang loob mo. Wala akong masasabing anuman laban sa iyo.”
11 Kinabukasan ng umaga, si David at ang mga tauhan nito'y nagbalik sa lupain ng mga Filisteo; nagpatuloy naman ang mga Filisteo ng pagsugod sa Jezreel.

The Philistines Reject David
29 Then (A)the Philistines gathered together all their armies (B)at Aphek, and the Israelites encamped by a fountain which is in Jezreel. 2 And the (C)lords of the Philistines [a]passed in review by hundreds and by thousands, but (D)David and his men passed in review at the rear with Achish. 3 Then the princes of the Philistines said, “What are these Hebrews doing here?”
And Achish said to the princes of the Philistines, “Is this not David, the servant of Saul king of Israel, who has been with me (E)these days, or these years? And to this day I have (F)found no fault in him since he defected to me.”
4 But the princes of the Philistines were angry with him; so the princes of the Philistines said to him, (G)“Make this fellow return, that he may go back to the place which you have appointed for him, and do not let him go down with us to (H)battle, lest (I)in the battle he become our adversary. For with what could he reconcile himself to his master, if not with the heads of these (J)men? 5 Is this not David, (K)of whom they sang to one another in dances, saying:
(L)‘Saul has slain his thousands,
And David his ten thousands’?”
6 Then Achish called David and said to him, “Surely, as the Lord lives, you have been upright, and (M)your going out and your coming in with me in the army is good in my sight. For to this day (N)I have not found evil in you since the day of your coming to me. Nevertheless the lords do not favor you. 7 Therefore return now, and go in peace, that you may not displease the lords of the Philistines.”
8 So David said to Achish, “But what have I done? And to this day what have you found in your servant as long as I have been with you, that I may not go and fight against the enemies of my lord the king?”
9 Then Achish answered and said to David, “I know that you are as good in my sight (O)as an angel of God; nevertheless (P)the princes of the Philistines have said, ‘He shall not go up with us to the battle.’ 10 Now therefore, rise early in the morning with your master’s servants (Q)who have come with [b]you. And as soon as you are up early in the morning and have light, depart.”
11 So David and his men rose early to depart in the morning, to return to the land of the Philistines. (R)And the Philistines went up to Jezreel.

2 And the lords of the Philistines passed on by hundreds, and by thousands: but David and his men passed on in the rereward with Achish.
3 Then said the princes of the Philistines, What do these Hebrews here? And Achish said unto the princes of the Philistines, Is not this David, the servant of Saul the king of Israel, which hath been with me these days, or these years, and I have found no fault in him since he fell unto me unto this day?
4 And the princes of the Philistines were wroth with him; and the princes of the Philistines said unto him, Make this fellow return, that he may go again to his place which thou hast appointed him, and let him not go down with us to battle, lest in the battle he be an adversary to us: for wherewith should he reconcile himself unto his master? should it not be with the heads of these men?
5 Is not this David, of whom they sang one to another in dances, saying, Saul slew his thousands, and David his ten thousands?
6 Then Achish called David, and said unto him, Surely, as the Lord liveth, thou hast been upright, and thy going out and thy coming in with me in the host is good in my sight: for I have not found evil in thee since the day of thy coming unto me unto this day: nevertheless the lords favour thee not.
7 Wherefore now return, and go in peace, that thou displease not the lords of the Philistines.
8 And David said unto Achish, But what have I done? and what hast thou found in thy servant so long as I have been with thee unto this day, that I may not go fight against the enemies of my lord the king?
9 And Achish answered and said to David, I know that thou art good in my sight, as an angel of God: notwithstanding the princes of the Philistines have said, He shall not go up with us to the battle.
10 Wherefore now rise up early in the morning with thy master's servants that are come with thee: and as soon as ye be up early in the morning, and have light, depart.
11 So David and his men rose up early to depart in the morning, to return into the land of the Philistines. And the Philistines went up to Jezreel.
