26 Zifiţii s-au dus la Saul la Ghibea şi au zis: „Iată că David(A) este ascuns pe dealul Hachila, în faţa pustiei.” 2 Saul s-a sculat şi s-a pogorât în pustia Zif, cu trei mii de oameni aleşi din Israel, ca să caute pe David în pustia Zif. 3 A tăbărât pe dealul Hachila, în faţa pustiei, lângă drum. David era în pustie şi, înţelegând că Saul merge în urmărirea lui în pustie, 4 a trimis nişte iscoade şi a aflat că, în adevăr, Saul venise. 5 Atunci, David s-a sculat şi a venit la locul unde tăbărâse Saul şi a văzut locul unde era culcat Saul, cu Abner(B), fiul lui Ner, căpetenia oştirii lui. Saul era culcat în cort în mijlocul taberei şi poporul era tăbărât în jurul lui. 6 David a luat cuvântul şi, vorbind lui Ahimelec, Hetitul, şi lui Abişai, fiul Ţeruiei(C) şi fratele lui Ioab, a zis: „Cine vrea să se pogoare(D) cu mine în tabără la Saul?” Şi Abişai a răspuns: „Eu mă voi pogorî cu tine.” 7 David şi Abişai s-au dus noaptea la popor. Şi iată că Saul era culcat şi dormea în cort, în mijlocul taberei, şi suliţa lui era înfiptă în pământ, la capul lui. Abner şi poporul lui erau culcaţi în jurul lui. 8 Abişai a zis lui David: „Dumnezeu dă astăzi pe vrăjmaşul tău în mâinile tale; lasă-mă, te rog, să-l lovesc cu suliţa mea şi să-l pironesc dintr-o lovitură în pământ, ca să n-am nevoie să-i mai dau alta.” 9 Dar David a zis lui Abişai: „Nu-l omorî! Căci cine(E) ar putea pune mâna pe unsul Domnului şi să rămână nepedepsit?” 10 Şi David a zis: „Viu este Domnul că numai Domnul(F) îl poate lovi; fie că-i va veni ziua(G) să moară, fie că se va pogorî(H) într-un câmp de bătaie şi va pieri. 11 Să(I) mă ferească Domnul să pun mâna pe unsul Domnului! Ia numai suliţa de la căpătâiul lui, urciorul cu apă şi să plecăm.” 12 David a luat dar suliţa şi urciorul cu apă de la căpătâiul lui Saul şi au plecat. Nimeni nu i-a văzut, nici n-a băgat de seamă nimic şi nimeni nu s-a deşteptat, căci Domnul îi cufundase pe toţi într-un somn adânc(J). 13 David a trecut de cealaltă parte şi a ajuns departe pe vârful muntelui, la o mare depărtare de tabără. 14 Şi a strigat poporului şi lui Abner, fiul lui Ner: „N-auzi tu, Abner?” Abner a răspuns: „Cine eşti tu, care strigi către împăratul?” 15 Şi David a zis lui Abner: „Oare nu eşti tu bărbat? Şi cine este ca tine în Israel? Pentru ce atunci n-ai păzit pe împărat, stăpânul tău? Căci cineva din popor a venit să omoare pe împăratul, stăpânul tău. 16 Ce ai făcut tu nu este bine. Viu este Domnul că sunteţi vrednici de moarte, căci n-aţi vegheat asupra stăpânului vostru, asupra unsului Domnului. Uită-te acum unde este suliţa împăratului şi urciorul de apă, care erau la căpătâiul lui.” 17 Saul a cunoscut glasul lui David şi a zis: „Glasul tău(K) este, fiul meu David?” Şi David a răspuns: „Glasul meu, împărate, domnul meu!” 18 Şi a zis: „Pentru ce(L) urmăreşte domnul meu pe robul său? Ce-am făcut şi cu ce sunt vinovat? 19 Să binevoiască acum împăratul, domnul meu, să asculte cuvintele robului său: Dacă Domnul este Cel ce te aţâţă(M) împotriva mea, să primească mirosul unui dar de mâncare de la noi, dar dacă oamenii te atâţă, blestemaţi să fie înaintea Domnului, fiindcă ei mă izgonesc(N) azi ca să mă dezlipească de moştenirea(O) Domnului, zicându-mi: ‘Du-te de slujeşte unor dumnezei străini!’ 20 Oh, să nu-mi cadă sângele pe pământ departe de Faţa Domnului! Căci împăratul lui Israel a pornit să mă caute ca pe un purice(P), cum ar urmări o potârniche în munţi.” 21 Saul a zis: „Am păcătuit(Q); întoarce-te, fiul meu David, căci nu-ţi voi mai face rău, fiindcă în ziua aceasta viaţa mea a fost scumpă(R) înaintea ta. Am lucrat ca un nebun şi am făcut o mare greşeală.” 22 David a răspuns: „Iată suliţa împăratului; să vină unul din oamenii tăi s-o ia. 23 Domnul va(S) răsplăti fiecăruia după dreptatea lui şi după credincioşia lui, căci Domnul te dăduse azi în mâinile mele, şi eu n-am vrut să pun mâna pe unsul Domnului. 24 Şi după cum azi viaţa ta a avut un mare preţ înaintea mea, tot aşa şi viaţa mea va avea un mare preţ înaintea Domnului şi El mă va izbăvi din orice necaz.” 25 Saul a zis lui David: „Fii binecuvântat, fiul meu David! Tu vei face lucruri mari şi vei(T) birui.” David şi-a văzut de drum, şi Saul s-a întors acasă.

David Spares Saul Again
26 (A)Then the Ziphites came to Saul at Gibeah, saying, “Is not David hiding himself on the hill of Hachilah, which is on the east of Jeshimon?” 2 So Saul arose and went down to (B)the wilderness of Ziph with (C)three thousand chosen men of Israel to seek David in the wilderness of Ziph. 3 And Saul encamped on the hill of Hachilah, which is beside the road on the east of Jeshimon. But David remained in the wilderness. When he saw that Saul came after him into the wilderness, 4 David sent out spies and learned that Saul had indeed come. 5 Then David rose and came to the place where Saul had encamped. And David saw the place where Saul lay, with (D)Abner the son of Ner, the commander of his army. Saul was lying within (E)the encampment, while the army was encamped around him.
6 Then David said to Ahimelech the Hittite, and to Joab's brother (F)Abishai the son of Zeruiah, (G)“Who will go down with me into the camp to Saul?” And Abishai said, “I will go down with you.” 7 So David and Abishai went to the army by night. And there lay Saul sleeping within (H)the encampment, with his spear stuck in the ground (I)at his head, and Abner and the army lay around him. 8 Then Abishai said to David, (J)“God has given your enemy into your hand this day. Now please let me pin him to the earth with one stroke of the spear, and I will not strike him twice.” 9 But David said to Abishai, “Do not destroy him, for who can put out his hand (K)against the Lord's anointed and be guiltless?” 10 And David said, (L)“As the Lord lives, (M)the Lord will strike him, or (N)his day will come to die, (O)or he will go down into battle and perish. 11 (P)The Lord forbid that I should put out my hand against the Lord's anointed. But take now the spear that is (Q)at his head and the jar of water, and let us go.” 12 So David took the spear and the jar of water from Saul's head, and they went away. No man saw it or knew it, nor did any awake, for they were all asleep, because (R)a deep sleep from the Lord had fallen upon them.
13 Then David went over to the other side and stood far off on the top of the hill, with a great space between them. 14 And David called to the army, and to Abner the son of Ner, saying, “Will you not answer, Abner?” Then Abner answered, “Who are you who calls to the king?” 15 And David said to Abner, “Are you not a man? Who is like you in Israel? Why then have you not kept watch over your lord the king? For one of the people came in to destroy the king your lord. 16 This thing that you have done is not good. (S)As the Lord lives, you deserve to die, because you have not kept watch over your lord, the Lord's anointed. And now see where the king's spear is and the jar of water that was (T)at his head.”
17 Saul recognized David's voice and said, (U)“Is this your voice, my son David?” And David said, “It is my voice, my lord, O king.” 18 And he said, (V)“Why does my lord pursue after his servant? For what have I done? What evil is on my hands? 19 Now therefore let my lord the king hear the words of his servant. If it is the Lord who has stirred you up against me, may he accept an offering, but if it is men, may they be cursed before the Lord, (W)for they have driven me out this day that I should have no share in (X)the heritage of the Lord, saying, ‘Go, serve other gods.’ 20 Now therefore, let not my blood fall to the earth away from the presence of the Lord, for the king of Israel has come out to seek (Y)a single flea like one who hunts a partridge in the mountains.”
21 Then Saul said, (Z)“I have sinned. Return, my son David, for I will no more do you harm, because my life was precious in your eyes this day. Behold, I have acted foolishly, and have made a great mistake.” 22 And David answered and said, “Here is the spear, O king! Let one of the young men come over and take it. 23 (AA)The Lord rewards every man for his righteousness and his faithfulness, for the Lord gave you into my hand today, and I would not put out my hand against the Lord's anointed. 24 Behold, as your life was precious this day in my sight, so may my life be precious in the sight of the Lord, and may he deliver me out of all tribulation.” 25 Then Saul said to David, “Blessed be you, my son David! You will do many things and will (AB)succeed in them.” So David went his way, and Saul returned to his place.

26 Зифиты пришли к Шаулу в Гиву и сказали:

2 И Шаул спустился в пустыню Зиф с тремя тысячами лучших исраильтян, чтобы найти там Давуда. 3 Шаул разбил свой лагерь рядом с дорогой на холм Хакила, что напротив Иешимона, но Давуд стоял в пустыне. Когда он увидел, что Шаул последовал за ним туда, 4 он послал лазутчиков и узнал, что Шаул действительно пришёл.
5 Давуд отправился в путь и пришёл туда, где разбил свой лагерь Шаул. Он увидел, где Шаул и начальник войска Авнер, сын Нера, легли спать. Шаул лежал в центре того места, где расположился лагерь, а войско находилось вокруг него.
6 Давуд спросил хетта Ахи-Малика и Авишая, брата Иоава, сына Церуи:
– Кто спустится вместе со мной в лагерь к Шаулу?
– Я спущусь с тобой, – сказал Авишай.
7 Давуд и Авишай подошли к войску ночью и видят: Шаул спит в лагере, а его копьё воткнуто в землю у его изголовья. Авнер и воины лежали вокруг него.
8 Авишай сказал Давуду:
– Сегодня Аллах отдал врага в твои руки. Позволь же мне пригвоздить его к земле одним ударом копья. Мне даже не понадобится второго удара.
9 Но Давуд сказал Авишаю:
– Не губи его. Кто может поднять руку на помазанника Вечного и остаться невиновным? 10 Верно, как и то, что жив Вечный, – сказал он, – Вечный сам сразит его. Либо придёт его время, и он умрёт, либо он пойдёт в бой и погибнет. Но не приведи Вечный мне поднять руку на помазанника Вечного. 11 Возьми-ка копьё и кувшин для воды у его изголовья, и пойдём.
12 Давуд взял копьё и кувшин для воды у изголовья Шаула, и они ушли. Никто не видел и не знал об этом, и никто не проснулся. Все они спали, потому что Вечный погрузил их в глубокий сон.
13 Давуд перешёл на другую сторону реки и встал на вершине горы вдали, между ними было большое расстояние. 14 Он закричал войску и Авнеру, сыну Нера:
– Авнер! Ответь мне!
Авнер ответил:
– Кто ты такой, что зовёшь царя?
15 Давуд сказал:
– Ведь ты мужчина? Кто в Исраиле подобен тебе? Почему же ты не охранял твоего господина царя? Некто из народа приходил, чтобы погубить твоего господина царя. 16 Скверно же ты поступил! Верно, как и то, что жив Вечный, – ты и твои люди заслуживаете смерти, потому что вы не охраняли вашего господина, помазанника Вечного. Посмотри вокруг себя. Где копьё царя и кувшин для воды, которые были у его изголовья?
17 Шаул узнал голос Давуда и сказал:
– Твой ли это голос, Давуд, сын мой?
– Это мой голос, господин мой царь, – ответил Давуд. – 18 Зачем мой господин преследует своего раба? Что я сделал и в каком зле повинен? 19 Пусть же мой господин царь выслушает слова своего раба. Если Вечный настроит тебя против меня, то я совершу жертвоприношение Ему. Но если это сделали люди, пусть они будут прокляты перед Вечным! Они лишили меня моей доли в наследии Вечного и сказали: «Ступай, служи другим богам!»[a] 20 Не дай же моей крови пролиться на землю вдали от Вечного. Царь Исраила ищет меня, как блоху, гоняется за мной по горам, как за куропаткой.
21 Шаул сказал:
– Я согрешил. Вернись, Давуд, сын мой. Сегодня моя жизнь была для тебя драгоценной, и я не буду больше пытаться причинить тебе вред. Я поступал как безумец и совершил огромную ошибку.
22 – Вот копьё царя, – ответил Давуд. – Пусть кто-нибудь из твоих молодых слуг перейдёт сюда и возьмёт его. 23 Вечный вознаграждает каждого человека за его праведность и верность. Сегодня Вечный отдал тебя в мои руки, но я не поднял руки на помазанника Вечного. 24 Пусть как твоя жизнь была сегодня для меня драгоценной, так ценится у Вечного моя жизнь, и пусть Он избавит меня от всякой беды.
25 Шаул сказал Давуду:
– Благословен ты, сын мой Давуд, ты совершишь великие дела и, несомненно, преуспеешь.
И Давуд пошёл своим путём, а Шаул вернулся домой.

- 26:19 Исраил был землёй, которую Всевышний даровал Своему народу в наследие. И поэтому изгнание Давуда с этой земли рассматривается им как лишение его законных прав на его часть земли. Кроме того, изгоняя его в чужие земли, злопыхатели Давуда лишают его возможности поклоняться истинному Богу в Его святилище.
